Spring 2023 Collection
This ‘vintage’ project from the 90’s mixed on-trend, lush florals with bold tartan plaids, and was originally developed for a Vegas client’s mountain home. The blending of these two contrasting motifs was unexpected and playful and seemed well-timed for an update. It’s OK to call the 90’s vintage right?
The inspiration behind our 2023 Spring Collection struck while reorganizing our archived project samples. This 90’s plaid-meets-floral hand tufted rug was at first jarring, but quickly resonated as a way to layer our newest floral fabrics and wallpapers with understated plaid and herringbone rugs. The result is a playful layering of feminine maximalism grounded by structured, masculine patterns.
MAUVE + TEAL COLOR STORY
Our Mauve & Teal color story has its roots in the 90’s, yet feels fresh and updated for today’s interiors. We love the feeling of a collected interior that has evolved over time and have worked with varying shades and saturations across each color grouping, resulting in perfectly mismatched ‘coordinating’ rugs, fabrics, and wall coverings. The rugs have been designed to add a quiet grounding to the room and allow the floral fabrics and wallpapers to steal the show.

Our design team shares decades of experience creating completely custom designs based on our client’s vision, and was tasked with updating the original floral & plaid rug design for today’s client. The above photos illustrate the custom design process; 1. Creating a series of initial quick sketches to explore different design approaches, 2. Pulling the color poms and developing the color direction from the client’s color story, 3. Developing the most successful design approach with further detail, in this case a richly detailed floral border on a plaid ground translated to resemble an architectural trellis, 4. Creating a color CAD to visualize all the elements together before proceeding with sampling.

Our Master Series rugs are the pinnacle of hand weaving and are designed, dyed, woven, and finished right here in our Connecticut Studio. Our team was tasked with customizing our Teff Cooley’s Grid, adding color across the linen warp and wool weft, to create an ombre plaid effect across the design. The above photos illustrate a few steps of the design process; 1. Selecting the color of the linen warp and wool weft and identifying color placement across the pattern, 2. The CAD process showing the color placement, and how the colors will interact across the warp and weft, 3. The initial sample on the loom showing the adjustments of the weft colors during development, 4. The magic of the ombre linen warp and wool weft intersecting on the loom.

Laredo Plaid Flatweave
Our Laredo Plaid Flatweave has been updated with fresh new colorways developed to coordinate across the 6 collection color stories. The large-scale plaid features multiple areas where the warp and weft intersect, resulting in an exciting play of pattern and color, mixing across the rug. The stair runner installation by Platner & Co is a perfect example of adjusting the pattern repeat for a perfectly tailored result.

Americana Color Story
Our Americana color story was inspired by summers in New England - an American flag on a weathered shingle cottage overlooking the water. Hits of saturated red are subdued by rose and blush, paired back with a preppy khaki and navy.

Elizabeth’s Cloth Curves
Our Elizabeth’s Cloth Curves rug features an undulating twill weave, scaled up to suit today’s spacious interiors. Most colorways feature a more saturated face color with a slightly lighter reverse, resulting in a ‘summer/winter’ effect when the rugs are flipped seasonally. The photos on the following page show the face and reverse of each sample. Our Elizabeth’s Cloth collection is handdyed and hand-woven in India and offered at a great price point, perfect for the active household.

Elizabeth’s Cloth Curves
Our Curves Mini rug is designed as the bold and modern cousin to the Curves pattern, with a smaller scale and stronger colors. Most colorways feature contrasting color on the face and reverse, resulting in a dramatic effect when flipped seasonally! Our Denim colorway reverses to white, our Celadon colorway transforms from a fresh green to a subtle teal, while our Indigo/Brick colorway pushes the effect to the maximum going from a rich teal with warm undertones, reversing to a warm brick mélange with cool undertones. The photos on the following page show the face and reverse of each sample.

Our Peachy Green color story uses unexpected color combinations for a fresh and playful aesthetic. We love the combination of peach, mint, and teal, with an accent of rich cerulean for some punch and a bit of well-needed whimsy.

Teff Piro Weave
The Piro Weave is our take on a handsome herringbone and has become one of our most popular Teff collection patterns. The design feels both modern and traditional, and is offered in 18 colorways ranging from subtle glassy-blue mélanges, to our new bold Sunshine Strie. The small-scale pattern created by the linen warp & wool weft works equally well for area rugs as for stair runners, and the tightness of the weave makes it as durable as it is versatile.

Our Vintage Sherbet color story is a throwback to the early 70’s, combining bright sunshine yellow with marigold, mint and army green. The wallpapers are reminiscent of a vintage treasure you might find behind a kitchen cabinet during a cottage remodel. Our Laredo Plaid Flatweave pulls the story together pairing the bold scale of the plaid with the punchy vintage colors.

Our Cooley’s Grid was designed in our CT Weaving Studio and combines a highly-technical weave structure with rich color mélanges resulting in an understated design that is anything but simple. The pattern is defined by a vertical and horizontal design intersecting across a detailed ground, resulting in a complex sequence of large and small-scale elements. We have expanded the pattern to 11 standard colorways, and custom color mélanges are easily achievable.

Our Dark & Stormy color story leans into the masculine with the introduction of dark navy, greys and black. We love the pop of cerulean and hints of lilac to take the edge off – just what a good dark & stormy should do.

Our Belden Collection rugs are inspired by our Made-in-CT Master Series Classic Grids, but are hand-dyed and hand-woven in India, and are offered at a competitive price point with a quicker lead-time. Each of our rug types have distinct advantages and we can help you decide which is best for your project. The Gardin Grid was originally introduced in the 80’s and quickly became a designer favorite due to it’s versatile scale. Woven to be completely reversible, the 2 colors alternate from front to back, maximizing the summer/winter effect when rugs are flipped seasonally.
