Fun and Games! 12 Questions?

Dear Key Club members, Happy May month! After experiencing the 63rd Annual Leadership Training Conference in April, I have sprouted from my roots and taken on the job of Brooklyn Tech Key Club’s Bulletin Editor. Assist me in my job by submitting articles about events and photos to go along with them! By doing so, we are displaying our key club’s achievements and progress through our newsletters. In addition, these articles could be viewed by our district editor whom may feature our key club in the district newsletter. Talk about pride, let’s show everyone what Brooklyn Tech Key Club is all about!

MAY March of Dimes was a walk for the premature babies. The goal was to walk 3.5 miles and gather up donations. It was an event where you could chill with your friends, have fun, and at the same time help walk for a cause. The volunteers supplied us with water every half a mile we walked, which was good because we would stay hydrated. This walk was a good way to help walk for the premature babies and have fun with key club as well - Project Captain Johnny Leung

Caring — our way of life Jumpstart — May 19th, 2011 The Jumpstart event in May was very inspirational and fun. It was an event where we organized books, made paper cut outs and created vocabulary for books. This event was aimed towards helping younger children and to enhance the learning experience for them. As a collective, the students at Brooklyn Tech were able to help children and provide supplies to preschoolers. Many students donated supplies such as index cards, glue sticks, post-its, construction paper and crayons. This was an enjoyable event, especially knowing our hard work would go to a good cause and help others. -Vivian Fung

AIDS Walk — May 15th, 2011 We were volunteering at the AIDS walk. It was one of the rainiest days ever. The volunteers were getting ready and putting water bottles on the tables for the people when the walk started. There were tons of people. When the walk started, everyone was lined up getting ready to pass out the water. One by one, the walkers took the water bottles. Some even took more than one from different people! There were many people that were walking. The people lined up shouted out cheers for those who were walking to keep going because they had another 4 miles to go. In the middle of giving out water, it started to rain. Everyone wore ponchos but the walkers and the volunteers still had their spirit. In the end, we ran out of water and our job was done. Volunteer Jessica Lau

Special Olympics — May 21st, 2011 The Special Olympics at Abraham Lincoln High School gave a chance for people with disabilities to compete at games and to have fun with their family and friends. The Special Olympics was a great way to interact with people that were not as fortunate as us. When I met these people I saw how they were courageous in competing in these events. Towards the ends, there was a final relay race that consisted of people with disabilities and the people that were volunteering. I was in that final relay race. Members from my team were encouraged to win. I felt good winning with them and I loved their reactions. It was a great and fun event.

RECAP OF APRIL— THE LEADERSHIP TRAINING CONFERENCE The 63rd Annual Leadership Training Conference was an unforgettable experience for all Key Club members who attended! Brooklyn Tech Key Club made sure not to come back to Brooklyn empty handed. Instead we carried with us our winning awards. Our past immediate president Mandy Wong was awarded Distinguished Key Clubber Award! Plus, our key club was awarded the Platinum Standard- Single Service Award for the Coney Island Beach Cleanup. Along with this, our LTC video won second place in the Video Contest and we, SWAGONOMICS, our Key Club dance crew, brought home 1st in the LTC Talent Show.
