It is at this time of the year when our tableware attracts the main focus, as the annual festivities encourage us to gather together and eat and drink more than we might usually allow ourselves. Entertaining guests can be a stressful experience, so having tableware that you are proud to showcase will help you feel more at ease and reflect the finer points of your taste and design style to other diners. It is easy to panic and clutter the table with the likes of vases and candleholders. Even though they are attractive additions for any table setting, keeping the table looking simple and elegant without too many objects can be highly effective – making the whole dining experience a more pleasurable one. There will always be a place for formal table settings, but latest trends have veered towards a playful approach, mixing and matching colours, plates and glasses for a more artistic and casual look. Mixing old and new is also an excellent way to add interest to the table. For example, placing some vintage champagne glasses with contemporary plateware can achieve a wonderful combination. Enjoying meals together with friends and family is where memories are made, so invest wisely in your tableware and it will stand the test of time and help make these cherished moments even more special.
