Summer is well under way as is the time for enjoying your beautiful backyard. Mid-peninsula homeowners in need of a little re-design inspiration can explore these 6 tips for upgrading the outdoor living experience. 1. CONNECT TO THE OUTDOORS WITH BI-FOLDING GLASS WALLS

Make lush outdoor grounds all the more visible by swapping traditional French doors with bi-folding glass walls. This modern trend garners abundant natural light, while blending the indoors with the backyard. Residents can choose between accordionlike doors or an expansive retractable wall depending on the home’s design. 2. CUSTOMIZED STUDIO SHEDS Bay Area homeowners have found plenty of ways to maximize space, the latest being backyard studio sheds. San Mateo and Santa Clara County residents can build a permit-free, personalized retreat as long as its under 120-square-feet. These pint-size studios serve as artist spaces, home offices, and even serve as backyard bars and lounges. 3. OUTDOOR TUBS AND SHOWERS Residents looking to take advantage of mid-peninsula’s warm summer climate can design a secluded, stone-studded shower just off the pool, or add an outdoor, sink-in tub off of a main bedroom. While this may not be Hawaii, the area’s temperate climate garners plenty of warm nights for enjoying a steamy bath under the stars. 4.
