Special Guest from the Netherlands: Bertjan Pot The IDSwest team is thrilled to announce that renowned designer Bertjan Pot will be speaking at IDSwest 2014 on the Livingspace Design Stage. Bertjan is well known for his Random Light design which started as a material experiment. Born in 1975, in Nieuwleusen, The Netherlands, Bertjan designs mostly interior products and is fascinated by techniques, textures, structures, patterns and colours. Material research is the start of almost every product. His technical interest and creative fantasies are pushing the boundaries of industrial production. Alongside their own projects, Studio Bertjan Pot is also working with many other companies and institutions including Moooi, Arco, Goods, Montis, Feld, Gelderland and Established & Sons. Come down to IDSwest to hear Bertjan speak about his design process and inspiration and to see some of his work.

FALKEN REYNOLDS INTERIORS DESIGNING SPACES “Mornings are typically spent at the studio on unglamorous administration tasks, but we focus on creative work in the afternoons—sketching, searching for materials, working through a technical detail or heading to a showroom in the neighbourhood. Nearly every day we have a client meeting in the studio and a trip to a job site to check on construction progress. From there, we’ll meet with some of our favourite local furniture suppliers. Communication and organization take up the majority of our time—not as glamorous, but necessary. When we’re lucky, we end our days by attending a design industry function or catching up with fellow designers and artists over wine.” − Angela Robinson

Sarah Richardson is an award-winning designer, recognized around the world for jaw-dropping transformations that turn ordinary spaces into magazine-worthy rooms with an incredible wow factor. Designer Bertjan Pot is well known for his Random Light, which began as a material research project. Many Studio Bertjan Pot products start this way and the outcome is usually an interior product with fascinating techniques, structures, patterns and colours. Most experiments are impulsively inspired by a curiosity for how things would function or how something would look. From there Bertjan takes on challenges with manufacturers to explore possibilities and push boundaries. The reward for each challenge is a new one.
Amanda Forrest has built a dynamic, successful design career through positive, productive relationships and thoughtful solutions that define each project. Known for her strong ability to lead a team of expert designers and talented craftspeople, Amanda takes a fresh, sophisticated approach to design that’s vibrant and modern, yet classic. Amanda prides herself on having an enduring style that meets the demands of her clients’ daily lives while building relationships that often transcend the design project.
