hog Festival committee guarantees another exciting year in Barclay Square. During the day, visitors to the festival can enjoy the Kids Zone rides and children’s games, magicians, ventriloquists, scooter and diaper derby races, and much more. Steele promises that “because there are around 18 food stands and 40 vendors, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.” Since the festival’s beginnings, Barclay Square has been the location for the celebration. Today, the festival has become the major summer attraction. Although it’s tough to estimate the number of attendees each day, Steele commented, “People keep coming back because of the free local, regional, and national entertainers and the clean, family environment.” Performances on the bandstand always draw the largest crowds. Over the last 20 years, it is estimated that there have been more than 130 bands in addition to the variety of entertainment that is selected to perform. Some highlights this year include The McClymonts, a multi-award winning band composed of three sisters from Australia who are ready to introduce their music and themselves to American; A Johnny Cash Tribute Show performed by residents of Johnstown; and one of America’s premier Rock n’ Roll shows will be performed by the band Midnight Special. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and then again at 9 p.m. each night of the festival, with the exception of July 4 when the firework performance fills the sky at 9:30. The complete schedule of events and highlights for the week are listed inside this issue and also found at the Festival Committee’s website: www.groundhogfestival.com. •••

English Channel Band is comprised of Vicki Monahan(vocals), Tom Harmon (vocals and guitar), Alan Kallmeyer (drums), John Reidel (vocals/keyboard/sound), and Gary Edmondson (bass guitar). Tom and Gary played together in a band for years, as well as John and Alan. They came together in 2003, forming English Channel, with a focus mainly on British classic rock n’ roll. In 2008, the band was feeling the need of something or "someone" new and fresh. Since that time, the playlist has expanded greatly to utilize her powerful voice and dramatic stage presence. Vicki’s ability to connect with the audience through the songs or in between songs has only added to the appeal of the band. Whether she is belting out Janis Joplin, or showing her softer side with a sultry ballad, Vicki has taken English Channel to a whole new level. She has been the driving force behind their expansion from solely British rock to all classic rock. English Channel is adding more songs to their playlist every day. Whether in a bar, outdoor festival, or at a private event, the goal of English Channel is to entertain the audience and have them on their feet, dancing and singing along to some great classic rock. ‘GRANPA’ CRATCHET - STRoLLING IN PARK Wednesday, July 6 — 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., 1 to 2 p.m. & 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 7 — 12 to 1 p.m., 2 to 3 p.m. & 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 8 — 12 to 1 p.m., 3 to 4 p.m. & 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 9 — 10 to 11 a.m., Noon to 1 p.m. & 2-3 p.m. When you think of the good ole days, what comes to mind? the trio of Brooke, Sam and Mollie, also know as, The McClymonts. From a very young age the sisters spent many weekends traveling up and down the east coast of Australia performing the hard yards of the well-worn country music talent quests. Today, the girls continue the reign as one of Australia’s most watched and touring groups. Since the Australian release of Chaos and Bright Lights, the critically-acclaimed trio has spent a lot of their time promoting the Gold-certified release by making numerous TV appearances on such shows as “The Today Show,” “Sunrise,” the highly-rated lifestyle show “Geta-Way,” and many others. They have become darlings of the media in Australia. Add to these accomplishments such honors as the CMA Australian Awards for Best Group of Duo, New Talent of the Year and Vocal Collaboration of the Year, as well as numerous nominations. In 2008, they also received the Australian MO Awards “Group of the Year” and landed sponsorships with Toyota and Telstra, the US equivalent of Verizon. Today, EMG is proud to unveil the talented sister trio to North American audiences. The bright-eyed, strong willed and hard-working sisters are ready to introduce their music and themselves to America. A large variety of salads will be available to include hot German potato salad, broccoli, pasta, cole slaw, turkey salad, and a variety of Jello salads. AvERAGE JoE BAND -CLASSIC RoCK Saturday, July 9 — 4-5:30 p.m. The Average Joe Band was formed when Lee Taylor
( lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player) started hosting an open jam at the Warehouse Pub and Grill in DuBois, PA every Thursday night. He had been doing this for a year when he met Bruce Walker (bass player, vocalist, and harmony’s). Chris Snyder (drummer) joined the band when he decided to come to the open jam. Tim Ball (lead guitarist) came to us by way of an ad. Little did I know when we agreed to have him join the band that he also played harmonica and violin. Needless to say from day one, as we musicians say, we jelled, it clicked, we worked. Every Thursday night the four of us played together at the open jam. People kept asking, “What’s the name of your band?” We didn’t have a name. We were simply jamming and entertaining the people. Then out of the blue Bruce Walker says “we are just your ordinary every day Average Joe’s. So the name stuck. KAHuNA BEACH PARTY
