Nutrition & Education Committee (NEC)
∙ As part of effort to market FPM to Member-Owners (MOs), working on list of important points to be presented in slides at orientation meetings. ∙ Article on early spring greens planned for April’s Honest Slate. ∙ Researching update to GMO policy paragraph of FPM.
Communications Committee (CC)
∙ Continues to recruit and train contributors. Several MOs reached out via email and we welcomed a guest to our March meeting. ∙ Met with several standing committees (NEC, ARC, EC) to develop regular columns. ∙ Remains open to extra MO help for research, data entry, interviewing/reporting, and editorial tasks. All work done remotely. ∙ Submit news, questions, or article ideas to: honestslate@honestweight.coop. ∙ Copy deadline for May 2022 issue and next meeting are Apr. 25; next publishing date is May 5.
Sales and Fiscal Performance
(for 8 mos. ending Feb. 28, 2022) ∙ Ordinary/Operating Income decreased by $184,051 or 67% to $89,010 vs. $273,062 last year and came in under budgeted amount of $301,529 by $212,519 or 70%. ∙ Net Income decreased $137,405 to –$34,803 vs. $102,602 last year and came in under budgeted $140,628 by $175,431. ∙ EBITDA decreased by $208,794 to $309,967 vs. $518,761 last year and came in under budgeted amount of $510,449 by $200,482. ∙ Total Expenses were up $173,098 or 2.4% to $7,398,462 vs. $7,225,364 last year and came in over budgeted $7,332,319 by $66,143 or 0.9%. ∙ Cost of Goods were up $29,644 or 0.26% at $11,331,682 vs. $11,302,038 last year and came in under budgeted $11,408,557 by $76,875 or 0.67%. ∙ Overall Gross Profit was down $10,954 or 0.15% at $7,487,472 vs. $7,498,426 last year and came in under budgeted $7,633,848 by $146,376 or 1.92%. Gross Margin was 39.79% vs. 39.88% last year and came in under budgeted 40.09%.
Anti-Racism Committee (ARC)
∙ Interviewing new trainers update. ∙ CCO is rolling out DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) training to managers via NCG (National Co+op Grocers). ∙ Requests Board approval to budget money for Racial Equity training within the staff development training for next fiscal year.
Environment Committee (EC)
∙ March 3 Zero Waste workshop successful, gaining 2 new committee members. ∙ Discussion underway to develop "Zero Waste Corner" column for Honest Slate; related workshops continue. ∙ Next meeting 3pm April 11.
Honest Arts Committee (HAC)
∙ Next meeting 3pm April 18. ∙ Discussion continues on displaying vintage "Honest Weight" scales in-store. ∙ Unclaimed leftover exhibit artwork will be donated to Goodwill.
