Taxonomy Project I collected 30 vintage Ladybird Children’s books and found that there was big community of people who also collected and searched for these books. Though there are websites and blogs available for collects, they are not well designed and have little character. I designed a new site, Memory Lane, devoted to nostalgia and remembering fond objects from my childhood and that of others my age. Target audience: female, mid 20s to late 30s, actively uses social media sites such as pinterest, twitter and facebook. Ladybird category homepage
Taxonomy - Finals I think the mood and feel of the finished site design successfully reflects the nostalgic theme and would like to develop it further into a more social community allowing people to upload and share their own Memory Lane.

Data Visualising I collected data from Clinton’s best selling birthday cards such as the style of cards, gender split, sizes and prices in order to see if any trends became apparent. I wanted to convert this information into icons in order visually represent some of this information as a new greetings card design. Competition Brief - Finals I produced a conversational print for the Cath Kidston Competition, aimed at a young woman furnishing her first home alone. I wanted the print to be bright with quirky hand drawn icons. I chose a vintage kitchen theme. Think homely slow cooked meals, vintage casserole dishes and mum’s Yorkshire puddings, with a modern twist. Target audience: female, in first own home, starting to look back and long for home comforts and happy memories such as mum’s home made cooking! I am happy with the style of the individual icons and how each icon has its own little details. The flow of the print is nice and works at different scales. I also created a coordinating print (far right) which uses some of the simpler icons in a fuller ditsy print.

Perfume Brief: Enigma A perfume for the modern day princess who doesn’t need a prince to rescue her. Strong, independent, elegant and feminine. I decided upon the name Enigma for the perfume as it fits nicely with the contradictory characteristics of my target customer and tied in nicely with the nod to mystical fairytales. The box has a sturdy feel with contrasting feminine bow and glam gold touches. Links to Rationale and Development: http://nataliewilliamson.wordpress.com/category/studioprojects/perfume-brief/
