The Hoster

MSWHITE Review One assumption you can make about the album title and cover of MSWHITE's new album, Squares, Is that the band, might have a thing for shapes. However if you listen to there music it seems like they're more interested in shape shifting. At times, they recall the muscular anguish of legends like Glassjaw and Refused, while other moments make you think of more radio friendly acts like The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. It's one big melting pot, soaring, punishing, atmospheric, and completely cathartic, it's a band that's not afraid to have something for everyone. So get some friends and spin a few tracks from Squares, and I guarantee you'll feel like anything but the albums title.

Interview What's the meaning behind the band's name? Well, when we started the project, we would like to covey something starting from our name. Most of people link our music to dark emotions, especially in Italy, and we, as most bands i think, were trying to do something different. That's why we decided to put the concept of light in our name, a white light contrasting to the common dark idea people have about our music. Starting from the idea of light and trying to describe what we feel about that, we reached Missed White as final name, conveying the sense of absence of such vision. As time passed, repeating the name and playing on its pronunciation, we decided to shorten it into MSWHITE which sounded quite better also. The overall sense is that we consider our music full of good karma and light emotions, that's what we want people to feel while listening to it. How did the band start?? Me (Andrea, Vocals) and Paolo met about 3 years ago, we've got common friends and we were both trying to start a band. Andrea (bass) joined the team immediately, Paolo and him have already played together in the past and the groove between them was consolidated. Luca and Davide joined together in the same moment, they were old friends and they found the band through ads. Starting from that point, the band has never had any lineup change of quarrels of any type, we were lucky, we were all lookin for the same thing and we found each other. What's the message you transmit with your music?? As I told before, we try to convey good karma with our music, that's a thing we all care a lot about. Lyrics are about my life and my REFLECTIONS on it, I try to explain what I learn everyday from life. What's your method at the time of writing a song?? I usually compose the main idea, the guitar riff or the chorus most of times, and then we develop it together into a song, moving parts again and again until we are all satisfied, everyone in the band is fundamental in the writing process, it a group work.

Who are your music influences?? We listen to very few bands similar to us! Most of us have got musical tastes very far from what we do. By the way, the bands we most admire and take inspiration from are Dance Gavin Dance, Norma Jean, Emarosa, The Chariot, and Underoath. What plans do you guys have for the future?? Touring U.S.A. first of all! We're going to be on tour with Enter Shikari, Haste The Day, Sleeping With Sirens and Lightsgoblue in the period between 1 Oct and 10 Nov. It will be our first time in U.S. we are really excited about that. We are moving to Tampa, FL for the whole next year and we're looking forward to playing as much as possible all around United States. Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour?? Well the funniest episode happened lately was during our last video shoot. We set the playback in a lake and once the backline has been put in the water, since it was late evening, we went to sleep to shoot the video the day after. When we woke up, we discovered that the water level had heightened up a lot and Paolo's snare was floating in the middle of the lake. At 9qm we've got to swim till the center of the lake to take it back. The water was about 5 degrees. What country would you love to play? After U.S., United kingdom is by far the place we want to play most. With what bands would you love to share a stage?? I'm going to be repetitive ahah, I think that sharing the stage with one of the bands I listed in our influences will be like a dream. Apart from them, I personally add Paramore. Talk about the direction the band is going, are you OK with that? I'm more than OK, it's what we all worked for in the last years. In MSWHITE no decision is taken without the agreement of all parts, we do believe in what we're doing and we're going to go on like that till this project will be alive.

The Fletchers

With a name like The Fletchers, it wouldn't be uncommon to think of some plaid wearing ska guys skanking up the place, but surprisingly their music is more like a time machine back to the golden days of early 90's indie rock, complete with jangly guitars, sun soaked harmonies, and an outline of fuzz and apathy. Songs like "Beaches" and "Hideaway House" sound like an unapologetic mash-up of The Pixies and even Pete and Pete theme song writers Polaris. While, "Wasted" and "Above This" sounds like an American version of Oasis, or Supergrass. Ignore the name, crank up your speakers and be transported back to the days grungy indie guys, sweating out beautiful tunes.

What's the meaning behind the band's name? Originally it was based on my girlfriends favorite show as a kid: Murder, she wrote....but in 2003 when I was naming the band there was already a Jessica fletchers in the uk...so we made it the fletchers for short. How did you guys get started with all this?? In the summer of 2002, with guitar in hand, Gary crashed a party and had a chance meeting with the host and bass player Dan Coffey, and soon after The Fletchers were born. The band made its home-base in the college town of New Brunswick, NJ, known for the vibrant music scene, which fostered bands like the Smithereens and the Bouncing Souls. What's the message to transmit with your music?? Learning from life and the power of Hope, people and life, the strength in human nature and resiliency What's your method at the time of writing a song?? Gary Kaplan is the primary song writer and has written words first, music first, songs from dreams and life experiences incl inspirations and relationships of all kinds. Who are your music influences?? Bands ranging from the Rolling Stones to the Stone Roses, and Pavement to the Velvet Underground (been compared also to XTC, Blur, Husker Du, REM) What plans do you guys have for the future?? We are about to begin recording our third album and thinking about a north east tour Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show?? Leaving our bass player at a rest stop when he needed to go to the rest room on the way to a gig. Came back to get him after a very tense 20 min. If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are, 多Who would you guys send to look for help? I would send Cliff the drummer as drummers are usually the strongest and most expendable...just kidding...he is very tough and probably would be the only one to survive 65 miles And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, 多Who would you eat first? Cliff again looks like he would be the best option...he is lean and mean and tall good for a bond fire or roast on a spit. He is also the youngest Fletchers and might be tastier What country you guys would love to play? I think we would be warmly received in The UK....it would be something we would really be psyched about With what bands you guys would love to share stage?? Teenage fanclub, The Shines, Nick Cave, Billy Brag , Robyn Hitchcock, The Hives, The Strokes and many many others Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is moving so far? Yes we are very psyched for the future and the way the music is progressing... To check out more of us by going to www.thefletchersmusic.com

The Cellophane Flowers

This London band has some serious influences, Animal Colllective, PJ Harvey, The Jesus And Mary Chain, and Parliament? So how does this cocktail of Indie gods and Funk superstars combine to form The Cellophane Flowers music? Well, you can hear it in the slinky bass lines, on the prowl vocal gestures that recall Gwen Stefani in her No Doubt prime, and guitar squalls and glitter riffs. While they have a ways to go before they get their place on the pedestal with the idols they adore, they aren't far off, and with each new song becoming bigger grand gestures, it won't be long before we put The Cellophane Flowers in the history books.

What's the meaning behind the band's name? It's about a world of manufactured beauty – Lennon called it plastic soul. How did the band start? Nick and Ian knew and played together in a previous band, Fra was found in the papers and Luca was found in the pub. We all had such different influences we had to start a band! What's the message to transmit with your music? Alienation. What's your method at the time of writing a song? That depends – some we jam and then take away to write lyrics, others Fra or Ian bring in. Some take ten minutes to finish, some take three months. Who are your music influences? They change week by week – you can check out the latest on our MySpace page. But if it's melodic and different, chances are we like it. What plans do you guys have for the future? To keep playing, keep recording, keep touring. And maybe get a pet. Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show? We wear dresses sometimes. If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are, ¿Who would you guys send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first? We'd send the person who could walk 66 miles without collapsing(so probably sporty Luca...). I'm not sure who we'd eat first, but we would probably give Fra first choice as she's the vegetarian. What country you guys would love to play? All of them – so long as no more than 64 miles from the nearest restaurant. With what bands you guys would love to share stage?? Kings of Leon. Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is going actually? Yes.

Review Dogs and cats are back! We saw the battle between these two animals, but in this second part, both will have to come together to help more than anything: humans and themselves from the evil revenge of Kitty Galore. The film turned out to be very fun, many of the scenes of the film were really awesome. Although many may not like “Childrens Movie, I think it's worth giving it a chance. Many people have talked about the first one was better and so on. In my opinion I think the second is very good. I would say that the cast to give life to these animals is a very funny and like most sequels that now in days end up being bad, I think this second part is very good and maybe not so as the first, but still well worth it one or several watchs. Rate: 4.2/5

Talking Movies

Review McKay and Ferrell are back! The team had worked in several films together behore, which many of them belong to the best ones Ferrel had done, bring a new comedy that will make you laugh out loud. In The Other Guys we see Ferrel with Mark Wahlberg as two detectives which aren’t really pretty much the best thing, under the shadow of Highsmith (Samuel L. Jackson) and Danson (Dwayne Johnson), which after the strange and somewhat absurd death of the last two ( Jackson and Johnson), Hoitz (Wahlberg), who had been stuck with Gamble after shot Derek Jeter during the World Series, and Gamble (Ferrel), a guy who is interested in paperworks more than hitting the streets, end in such a short time involved in a case where more and more no one wants to be part of and involve strange things with it... The movie is actually funny. If you're a fan of Ferrell's hilarious humor and / or are of those who tend to laugh at almost anything, the film is for you. Personally, I laughed a lot. Although I ain’t a big fan of Ferrell, in my opinion is a very good film. For those who want to have a good time laughing, The Other Guys is a great option. Although remember that to see this movie, it is advisable not to go with mood. Rating: 4.8/5

Director: Brian McCay Writer: Brian McKay Cast: Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Will Ferrel, Mark Wahlberg, Damon Wayan Jr., Rob Riggle, Michael Keaton, Steve Coogan. Eva Mendes.

That’s right, it’s already announced that that the perverse genius (Jigsaw) is ending his work. Saw 7, say the makers of this film and even the trailer, will be the last film in the series. Until now they have announced several things, which have already been discussed by fans a while now, one of them is: The Return of Dr. Gordon. For those who started the series a little further from the 2nd or 3rd or later, Dr. Gordon was one of the two victims in the first part of this series, and since then at the end of the film his end had been among ¿Still Alive or Dead?. But like many fans of the series had been planting from a while now, it was officially discovered that the doctor was in several scenes later in the series after 1st part. But the doctor is not alone in coming to the final game, as the victims in the film are many of the survivors of the whole saga. There will also be a special appearance by singer of Linkin Park and Dead by Sunset: Chester Bennington. Which as seen in the trailer and goes on the Internet, is one of the victims of the game. Although the movie looks to be one of the most epic of the series, I would like to talk about several things that are and have been present and would be in the series for the first time or from a while now: 3D and The Battle for the Legacy of Jigsaw between Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) and Jill Tucker (Betsy Russell)

SAW 3D To finish the great saga of SAW, the team behind the film announced that the series will join to the 3D franchise, which has taken a great welcoming to the public since the big hit Avatar. Since then, the 3D has grown and nearly 90% of movies today are made with this format. But how will this affect the movie? Will this become one of the biggest movies in the gore genre or would be a failure? Well, in my opinion the answer is a Maybe. I think many might be with me when I say it does not depends on the 3D but inthe script; which has been a major problem for many in the series. For many the film has become more gore, just blood & organs, and less story. So I think for those who loved the movie for the gore may not be so disappointed, while those looking for a story well done, we’d have to wait until the movie comes out, no one knows, maybe there might be an story. Now here something that many may agree with me and look forward to...

Jigsaw’ s Legacy: Mark vs. Jill From the fourth film, Mark and Jill were introduced. One an homocide agent and on the other hand, Jigsaw’s wife. And although from the fifth film we saw that Mark joined the command to continue Jigsaw's legacy as we saw it after being "washed" mentally, but in the sixth part we saw that Mark had an opponent who would have to face: Jill Tucker. A trap? Another game? These questions can come to us. But in the end I think this is one of the best things to come in the film and has made the story a little more interesting and cool. But there multiple endings for these two, since from the beginning I started all this, the 7th part will be the last of the series. It was planned an 8th part, but in the end by several things, 7th would be the last part.. So, the question that come out is: Does both die or one stay alive? I think the end of this film would be one of the most expected things from all this.

Conclusión So it can be discussed that the series finale for the big fans of SAW is something expected and brings mysteries like: Who’s Bobby Dagen? Many people say here in the Internet, that he may be the mastermind behind Jigsaw. This and more would be waiting and the best thing is that all this would be on 3D. But the big question is: Will it be a grand finale or a big disappointment? We’d have to wait....

Preparing for:

SAW 7

As I write this, missing a few weeks for the highly anticipated Underoath’s new album —I say much anticipated, because the Aaron’s departure, who for many was a big “shock” and kinda bad news and leave us all in a wondering position. Also because maybe we all loved Aaron’s voice or way of drumming and the departure, as I later said, leave us asking what would be next. Well as I saiid, many questions came out all around the web and comments appeared pretty much ASAP, even for many fans, the departure was the end of the band—. Two or three questions that we can add that generally emerged when the departure came out was: Who would be the new drummer then? Who would take care of the clean vocals? And would it be now ONLY screamo or those who enjoyed clean vocals would had any hope at all? Well, those questions have been answered during the course of the recording, let’s see if we could answer few of those questions:

Who was going to get the drums stick from now on? Although for many Aaron could never be replaced, it was logic the band needed a drummer to continue. And so pretty days after the Aaron’s departure, the questions was answered when Norma Jean former drummer Daniel Davidson joined the band. According to sources, he had participated in the band’s previous album, the sixth to be specific, Lost in the Sound of Separation with the percussion. As Daniel entered the band, the seventh album started to be recorded.

Who would sing clean vocals in songs? And, it would be all just screaming or would there be hope at all for those who enjoy clean vocals? Although not the same, the band has released two songs where we can listen, obviously not the same, but Spencer (vocals) get in charge of the clean vocals part, which is not new as in songs before we could hear him sing few clean parts as well. Is it the same? Totally No. But I think we might need to adjust to this new particular clean vocals. Although you never know... About the hopes, I would leave it on: Maybe.

Conclusion The album, so far what I’ve listened, really had surprised me. Isn’t the same, I think that’s obvious. But as many fans had said out there: Is the return of Underoath. As many might know, the band began as metal, kinda only screamo; and maybe with this new release they’re planning to come back to the Old Roots. Although it is true that it comes as a new Underoath. With Aaron’s departure, there remains no official members, or rather said from the original band, and with this I think with this new album it might be the beginning of something new; and who knows, sometimes new isn’t bad. But we would have to wait until November 9th when the album comes out. When we get all down the road... At the end of the disambiguation.
