ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING NEWS

Work to start on £6.1m Technology Centre extension Multi-million-pound project to transform higher technical training We’re thrilled to be extending our Technology Centre to 6,000sq m as part of our project to enable us to offer higher technical training, especially in advanced manufacturing to train our apprentices. Our current state-of-the-art facilities include vast specialist workshop spaces for all our building, trades and engineering pathways to accommodate hands on training. The extension, as well as an extensive refurbishment of the existing facilities, will see an investment in new equipment and resources.

Julia Heap, Principal and CEO of Hopwood Hall College, said: “There’s so much excitement for the opportunities that will be offered through extending our Technology Centre. This project will allow us to continue to provide the highest quality training while also meeting the skills gap. “It’s fantastic news for the whole community and we can’t wait for future students to start reaping the rewards!” Paul Pritchard, Centre Director for our Technology Centre, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be in the position to build the extension to our facilities.

“It will give us the opportunity to work with AMPI (Advanced Machinery and Productivity Institute) and GMCA to deliver manufacturing and engineering skills. “These valued skills will support employers of all sizes to create pathways in employment, as well as supporting Mayor Andy Burnham’s carbon emissions vision.” Whether you want to employ an apprentice, train your workforce or become one of our T-Level partners, contact our Engineering & Manufacturing Employer Skills Consultant on 0161 655 6971 or email louise.putland@hopwood.ac.uk

We hired our apprentice through Hopwood Hall College because we felt it would help us grow as a business and bring further skills into our team.

Hopwood Hall College has a great reputation for its great engineering workshop and training. Hiring our new apprentices was really easy for us, you listened to our brief for what type of candidates we required and they haven’t disappointed. Their courses are well ran and the onsite facilities are fantastic.

We tried local colleges and training providers in the past, all of which have let us down, we then approached Hopwood Hall College.

Since we started working with Hopwood Hall College we have developed a good working partnership and would recommend any other businesses to use Hopwood Hall College for future apprentices.

It’s enabled us to grow as a company, it became increasing difficult and frustrating to source fully skilled and experienced staff, so we decided to recruit raw apprentices which we could train to the exact high standards which we require. We have now taken on three apprentices via Hopwood Hall College and we would not hesitate to recruit from Hopwood Hall again.
