WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF PRESBYOPIA?

The transparent lens rests on the inside of the eye behind the iris and changes shape to focus the light on the retina so you can see.

When a person is young, the lens is soft, flexible and can change shape easily. This allows you to focus on objects both near and far. After age 40, the lens becomes stiffer and can not easily change shape. This makes reading difficult, it becomes more difficult to perform tasks that require close observation.

There is no way to stop or reverse the normal aging process that causes presbyopia. However, presbyopia can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses or surgery. If you do not correct presbyopia, you may feel discomfort caused by headaches and eye fatigue.

WAYS TO CORRECT PRESBYOPIA

Use reading glasses: If presbyopia is the only problem in vision (you do not have nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism), you may only need glasses. Reading glasses help correct vision problems by bending (refracting) the light before it enters the eye.

If glasses are already used for other vision problems, the use of bifocal, trifocal or progressive lenses will now be needed.

Contact lenses: Some people prefer to wear contact lenses instead of glasses. There are two types of contact lenses that help treat presbyopia: • Monovision contacts. These contact lenses correct the vision of one eye to see far and the other to see up close.

• Multifocal contacts. These lenses have different rings or zones with different graduations. With this design, both near and far vision are used at the same time.

Refractive surgery: Some people decide to undergo surgery to get monovision. This can reduce the need to wear glasses to see near and far objects.

¿Qué es la presbicia?

L

a presbicia “ojo viejo” es cuando los ojos pierden gradualmente la capacidad para ver objetos de cerca. Se puede comenzar a notar la presbicia poco después de los 40 años.

¿CUÁLES SON LAS CAUSAS DE LA PRESBICIA?

El cristalino transparente se apoya en el interior del ojo detrás del iris y cambia de forma para enfocar la luz sobre la retina para que puedas ver.

Cuando una persona es joven, el cristalino es suave, flexible y puede cambiar de forma fácilmente. Esto le permite enfocar objetos tanto de cerca como de lejos. Después de los 40 años, el cristalino se vuelve más rígido y no puede cambiar de forma fácilmente. Esto dificulta la lectura, se hace más difícil realizar tareas que requieren ver de cerca.

No hay manera de detener ni revertir el proceso normal de envejecimiento que causa la presbicia. Sin embargo, la presbicia puede corregirse con anteojos, lentes de contacto o cirugía. Si no corrige la presbicia, puede sentir molestia causada por dolores de cabeza y fatiga ocular.

MANERAS DE CORREGIR LA PRESBICIA

Usar anteojos de lectura: Si la presbicia es el único problema en la visión (no se tiene miopía, hipermetropía ni astigmatismo), puede que sólo se necesite utilizar anteojos. Los anteojos de lectura ayudan a corregir los problemas de visión de cerca doblando (refractando) la luz antes de que ingrese en el ojo.

Si ya se usa anteojos para otros problemas de visión, ahora se necesitará el uso de lentes bifocales, trifocales o progresivos.

• Los bifocales corrigen la visión de cerca y de lejos. Una línea que puede ser vista o no, divide el lente. La parte inferior del lente refracta la luz para la visión de cerca. La parte superior refracta la luz de manera que pueda ver objetos distantes.

• Los trifocales tienen tres zonas en el lente para corregir la visión de cerca, la visión intermedia y la visión de lejos.

• Los lentes progresivos corrigen la visión como los bifocales y los trifocales. Sin embargo, en lugar de tener una línea que divide cada área refractiva, la refracción cambia gradualmente en el lente desde arriba hacia abajo.

Lentes de contacto: Algunas personas prefieren usar lentes de contacto en lugar de anteojos. Existen dos tipos de lentes de contacto que ayudan a tratar la presbicia: •Contactos de monovisión. Estos lentes de contacto corrigen la visión de un ojo para ver de lejos y del otro para ver de cerca.

Con un láser, el oftalmólogo cambia la forma de la córnea para una visión clara de lejos en un ojo y de cerca en el otro. Despite the atmosphere of celebration and joy that is experienced at Christmas and New Year, some people experience emotions such as sadness, melancholy and depression.

With the arrival of Christmas and the New Year the atmosphere changes, it becomes festive, full of multicolored lights, there are many parties, hugs and gifts, but is everything happiness? for most, but not for all.

It is very common for some people to experience feelings of nostalgia, sadness or even depression.

Psychologist Arely Martínez Jiménez, explained that they can be presented by three main factors, the family, the social and economic that practically go hand in hand.

She said that there may be problems in the family or that some member is no longer present, also because of the pressure that society makes on how to live this season or forget the true essence of Christmas, which is to share the good times with loved ones instead of focusing on the material.

Contrary to what one might think, not only adults go through these situations, children also do it.

“The children can suffer due to the lack of a family member, or because they do not have the gifts they would like, there are some shortcomings, in this case it is not so serious, but remember that these are sad situations that affect them because of their age,” she said.

This can be identified because people manifest sadness, crying or absence of the group gathered.

WHO CAN SUFFER IT?

People who have lost a relative, who live family situations such as fights, arguments, or differences that perhaps for some may not be so serious, but the affected person does.

“Also those who are insecure or who have some need of appearance, or some ‘masks’,” she said.

The psychologist said that it can be considered that there is a higher incidence in women due to emotional and socially permissible situations, that is, although men also present them, they do not manifest them so easily.

“Remember that from boyhood to men they are repressed to be able to manifest an emotion,” she said.

WHAT TO DO?

Martínez Jiménez pointed out that the ideal is to learn to overcome the depression situation and to understand that the season motivates us to share and live with those we love despite the absences or sorrows that we have.

“We have to take into account that we can and should live with sadness, but also learn to be grateful for those who are with us and those we have, even with shortcomings, to approach people and try to integrate those who leave, but not invade them or get angry if they do not want to do it,” she said.

She added that it is very important to give their space to people so that they can express their emotions, it was also emphatic to say that it is not right to ask them to repress their feelings.

“Emotions, however unnecessary they may seem, must be manifested, so that in this way they can value those who are next to them and give thanks for that,” she said.

The specialist in behavior modification, said that when the depression manifests itself, not only by the approximation of these dates, but also much sooner or later or there is no interest to try to overcome the situation, professional help should be sought.

The most important thing, she said, is to recognize that there is a mental problem, to understand that more people suffer from the situation and to thank those who stay close to help.

On the other hand, the support from family and friends towards who suffers a depression is very important to make them feel that they are not alone.

Listening becomes very important for those who experience an emotional state that is not optimal, although for a person who does not deal with it, it is too simple or unimportant.

Finally, she commented that respect is fundamental for the proper development of human relations.

“When we speak of respect, we mean or do not belittle the person’s emotions because we do not all express the same feelings, or with the same intensity,” she said.

Los efectos de las fiestas decembrinas

A pesar del ambiente de fiesta y alegría que se vive en Navidad y Año Nuevo, algunas personas experimentan emociones como tristeza, melancolía y depresión.

Con la llegada de la Navidad y el Año Nuevo el ambiente cambia, se vuelve festivo, lleno de luces multicolores, abundan las convivencias, los abrazos y los regalos, pero, ¿todo es felicidad? para la mayoría, pero no para todos.

Es muy común que algunas personas experimenten sentimientos de nostalgia, tristeza o incluso depresión.

La psicóloga Arely Martínez Jiménez, explicó que pueden presentarse por tres factores principales, el familiar, el social y económico que prácticamente, van de la mano.

Dijo que puede ser que haya problemas en la familia o que algún miembro ya no esté presente, también por la presión que realiza la sociedad sobre cómo debe vivirse esta temporada o que se olvide la verdadera esencia de la Navidad, que es compartir los buenos momentos con los seres queridos en lugar de enfocarse en lo material.

Contrario a lo que pudiera pensarse, no solamente los adultos pasan por estas situaciones, también los niños lo hacen.

“Los pequeños pueden sufrir debido a la falta de algún familiar, o por no tener los obsequios que ellos desearían, que haya algunas carencias, en este caso no es tan grave, pero recordemos que son situaciones que les resultan tristes y los afectan debido a su edad”, expresó.

Esto puede ser identificado porque las personas manifiestan tristeza, llanto o ausencia del grupo reunido.

¿QUIÉNES PUEDEN PADECERLO?

Personas que han perdido a algún familiar, quienes viven situaciones familiares tales como peleas, discusiones, o diferencias que quizás para algunos pudieran no ser tan graves, pero la persona afectada sí.

“También quienes son inseguros o que tienen cierta necesidad de apariencia, o algunas ‘máscaras’”, expuso.

La psicóloga aseveró que se puede considerar que hay mayor incidencia en mujeres debido a situaciones emocionales y socialmente permitidas, es decir, que aunque

los hombres también las presentan, no las manifiestan tan fácilmente.

“Recordemos que desde pequeños a los hombres se les reprime el poder llegar a manifestar una emoción”, destacó.

¿QUÉ HACER?

Martínez Jiménez señaló que lo ideal es aprender a superar la situación de depresión y comprender que la temporada nos motiva a compartir y convivir con los que amamos a pesar de las ausencias o las tristezas que se tengan.

“Hay que tomar en cuenta que podemos y debemos vivir la tristeza, pero también aprender a ser agradecidos por los que están con nosotros y los que tenemos, aún con carencias, acercarnos a las personas y tratar de integrar a quienes se alejan, pero no invadirlos o enojarnos si no desean hacerlo”, manifestó.

Agregó que es muy importante darles su espacio a las personas para que puedan manifestar sus emociones, además fue tajante al decir que no es correcto pedirles que repriman sus sentimientos.

“Las emociones por más innecesarias que parezcan deben de ser manifestadas, para que de esta forma pueden valorar a quien se tiene al lado y dar gracias por ello”, externó.

La especialista en modificación de conducta, opinó que cuando la depresión se manifiesta, no solo por la aproximación de estas fechas, si no también mucho antes o después o no existe interés para intentar superar la situación, deberá buscarse ayuda profesional.

Lo más importante, declaró, es reconocer que se tiene un problema anímico, entender que más personas sufren por la situación y agradecer a quienes se quedan cerca para ayudar.

Por otra parte, el apoyo por parte de la familia y amigos hacia quien sufre una depresión es muy importante para hacerles sentir que no están solos.

Escuchar se convierte en algo muy importante para quien experimenta un estado emocional que no es óptimo, aunque para una persona que no lidia con ello resulte demasiado simple o sin importancia.

Finalmente, comentó que el respeto es fundamental para el buen desarrollo de las

relaciones humanas.

“Al hablar de respeto nos referimos a no menospreciar las emociones de la persona

porque no todos manifestamos los mismos sentimientos, ni con la misma intensidad”, afirmó.

New procedure to lose weight,

surgery At the beginning of the year, one of the main purposes is to lose weight, either for aesthetics or health, and thanks to advances in technology, it is possible to achieve this through a new method in bariatry and with extraordinary results: the endoscopic gastric sleeve.

By Pamela Escobar It is a minimally invasive procedure, which is done through the mouth. Using an endoscope, the size and shape of the stomach is modified without injury to the abdomen and without altering the functioning of the abdomen.

The endoscopic gastric sleeve is performed in a few places in Mexico and Europe, but it has reached our city thanks to Dr. Juan Carlos Caramés Aranda, Surgeon General and Interventional Endoscopist of the Interventional Endoscopy Center of Reynosa.

AHEAD ON MEDICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL PROCEDURES 4The Center for Gastroenterology and Interventional Endoscopy, in the Del Prado neighborhood in Reynosa, has the only dualchannel endoscope in Northern Mexico.

With this high-tech endoscope, Gastric Sleeve Endoscopy is performed, a procedure that began only five years ago in the United States in two hospitals, one of them, the Weill Cornell Hospital, where Dr. Michel Kahaleh works, with whom he is associated.

PROCEDURE AND RECOVERY

The doctor explained the advantages of this new procedure that began in the United States; by means of which modifications are made in the shape and size of the stomach, without making incisions in the skin of the abdomen; introducing an endoscope through the mouth with a sophisticated suture system for the modification that will reduce up to 80 percent the capacity of the stomach.

“The duration of the procedure is about an hour and a half, depending also on the size of the stomach and its length, in addition to the number of sutures that have to be performed, because in each patient it is different,” explained Caramés Aranda.

He added that the surgery is performed under a general anesthesia in an operating room, but with a very quick recovery, because in one of the most recent cases, after three hours of having performed the endoscopic gastric sleeve, a patient in his room was sitting playing video games with their children, just waiting the next day to go home.

“As a precaution we leave the patient 24 hours under observation and hospitalized, although he is only waiting for the time to pass, as there are no wounds, no pain or discomfort and he must be fasting. It is until

the next day when it starts with a soft diet (water, tea and gelatin) and if the patient tolerates this well, he is discharged to go home and on the third day he can rejoin his daily tasks,” the doctor added.

ADVANTAGES OF ENDOSCOPIC GASTRIC SLEEVE

Dr. Juan Carlos Caramés Aranda highlighted the advantages of endoscopic gastric sleeve over other procedures to lose weight since there are three techniques to perform bariatric surgery, one is the endoscopic gastric sleeve, the same surgical gastric sleeve that is performed laparoscopically and finally Gastric bypass by the same route.

“The big difference between the endoscopic gastric sleeve (oral trans) and the other two procedures is that nothing is being alte-

red in the function, digestion and absorption of the digestive system, but only with the endoscopic gastric sleeve what we are doing is to decrease mechanically the size of the stomach,” he said.

He said that this leads the patient to eat a small amount of food and feel satisfied quickly and lose weight.

“We are not cutting or removing part of the stomach, or altering the mechanism of digestion or absorption; that’s a very big advantage of the endoscopic gastric sleeve,” reiterated Caramés Aranda.

FOLLOW UP PROGRAM

Endoscopist Juan Carlos Caramés Aranda, detailed that the endoscopic gastric sleeve is part of a complete plan. It is a support program in which the patient is trained in his

eating habits, exercises, psychological support, to help the patient in case of requiring medications to calm the anxiety.

“It is necessary that the patient remains in contact with us, at the beginning, we do the endoscopic procedure, the follow-up is constant and includes that many patients have significant obesity and that consequently they suffer high blood pressure, diabetes or other disorders; same that are the foundation to carry out the procedure and that will help to heal of these problems by decreasing weight in an important way,” detailed Caramés Aranda.

PREPARATION OF THE PATIENT

Novedoso procedimiento para perder peso,

Cada inicio de año uno de los propósitos principales es bajar de peso, ya sea por estética o salud y gracias a los avances en la tecnología se puede logar por medio de un novedoso método en bariatría y con resultados extraordinarios: la manga gástrica endoscópica.

Por Pamela Escobar Se trata de un procedimiento mínimamente invasivo, que se realiza a través de la boca. Utilizando un endoscopio, se modifica el tamaño y la forma del estómago sin heridas en el abdomen y sin alterar el funcionamiento del mismo.

La manga gástrica endoscópica se realiza en pocos lugares de México y Estados Unidos, pero ha llegado a Reynosa gracias al doctor Juan Carlos Caramés Aranda, Cirujano General y Endoscopista Intervencionista del Centro de Endoscopía Intervencionista de Reynosa.

PROCEDIMIENTO Y RECUPERACIÓN

El médico explicó las ventajas de éste nuevo procedimiento que inició en los Estados Unidos; por medio del cual se realizan modificaciones en la forma y tamaño del estómago, sin realizar incisiones en la piel del abdomen; introduciendo por la boca un endoscopio con un sofisticado sistema de sutura para la modificación que reducirá hasta en un 80 por ciento la capacidad del estómago.

“La duración del procedimiento es de una hora y media aproximadamente, dependiendo también del tamaño del estómago y su longitud, además del número de suturas que se tengan que realizar, pues en cada paciente es diferente”, explicó Caramés Aranda.

Añadió que la cirugía se realiza bajo una anestesia general en un quirófano, pero con una recuperación muy rápida, pues en uno de los más recientes casos, después de tres horas de haberse realizado la manga gástrica endoscópica, un paciente en su habitación estaba sentado jugando videojuegos con sus hijos, sólo esperando el día siguiente para darse de alta.

“Por precaución dejamos al paciente 24 horas en observación y hospitalizado, aunque sólo está esperando a que pase el tiempo, ya que no hay heridas, ni dolor o molestias y debe estar en ayuno. Es hasta el día siguiente cuando se inicia con dieta blanda (agua, té y gelatina) y si el paciente tolera bien esto, es dado de alta para irse a casa y

al tercer día se puede reincorporar a sus labores cotidianas”, agregó el médico.

VENTAJAS DE LA MANGA GÁSTRICA ENDOSCÓPICA

El doctor Juan Carlos Caramés Aranda resaltó las ventajas de la manga gástrica endoscópica sobre otros procedimientos para bajar de peso, pues existen tres técnicas para hacer bariatría, una es la manga gástrica endoscópica, la manga gástrica quirúrgica misma que se realiza por vía laparoscópica y finalmente el ByPass gástrico por la misma vía.

“La gran diferencia entre la manga gástrica endoscópica (trans oral) y los otros dos procedimientos es que no se está alterando absolutamente nada en la función, digestión y absorción del sistema digestivo, sino solamente con la manga gástrica endoscópica lo que estamos haciendo es disminuir mecánicamente el tamaño del estómago”, enunció.

ingerir poca cantidad de alimento y se siente satisfecho rápidamente y baja de peso.

“No estamos cortando ni quitando parte del estómago, ni alterando el mecanismo de digestión ni de absorción; esa es una ventaja muy grande de la manga gástrica endoscópica”, reiteró Caramés Aranda.

PROGRAMA DE SEGUIMIENTO

El Endoscopista Juan Carlos Caramés Aranda, pormenorizó que la manga gástrica endoscópica forma parte de un plan completo. Es un programa de apoyo en el cual capacitan al paciente en cuanto a sus hábitos alimenticios, ejercicios, respaldo psicológico, para ayudar al paciente en caso de requerir medicamentos para calmar la ansiedad.

“Es necesario que el paciente siga en contacto con nosotros, de inicio, hacemos el procedimiento endoscópico, el seguimiento es constante e incluye que muchos pacientes tienen obesidad importante y que por consecuencia padecen hipertensión arterial, diabetes

Enfatizó un punto importante dentro del plan, que es la utilización de unas cremas corporales que ayudan a bajar de peso más rápido, además otras que sirven para recuperar el tono de la piel, de manera que el paciente aunque baje mucho de peso, la piel se tonifique y no se vuelva flácida o cuelgue.

Añadió que al concluir el año de seguimiento este paciente cambió su mentalidad, ya aprendió a comer, tiene un estilo de vida diferente y sigue bajando de peso, además se controlan los padecimientos que lo pudieron llevar a realizar el procedimiento para mejorar la salud, logrando así el objetivo primordial, que es el tener una mejor calidad de vida.

Caramés Aranda pormenorizó que en procedimientos como la manga gástrica quirúrgica y el bypass gástrico se alteran las funciones del estómago, en el caso del primero, durante la cirugía se corta y retira gran parte del estómago y se altera todo el sistema de absorción de nutrientes de éste.

“Al retirar el fondo gástrico; se elimina donde se secretan sustancias que van a dar al cerebro la información de sensación de apetito o de llenura, de cuando ya se está satisfecho; e incluso el decir al final de los alimentos que éstos estuvieron ricos”, comentó.

Mientras que el segundo, durante la cirugía se modifica la forma, función y el proceso de digestión y absorción del estómago y del intestino delgado; porque en los primeros sesenta centímetros del intestino delgado después del estómago es donde se lleva a cabo más del 60 por ciento de toda la absorción del sistema digestivo.

“Se denomina bypass gástrico porque se brinca ese segmento de donde se lleva a cabo la mayor absorción y entonces se deja sólo una porción del estómago, se sube un segmento de intestino para unirlo con ese segmento pequeño de estómago que queda y se brinca todo el sistema de absorción”, comentó.

Por ello el médico enfatizó que el paciente se desnutre, tiene desmineralización, disminuye el calcio, el paciente se ve avejentado y cansado, se le cae el pelo; todas esas alteraciones nunca se verán con la manga gástrica endoscópica porque el sistema de digestión y de absorción está respetado; solamente se modifica la forma del procedimiento, siendo ésta, la ventaja más grande.

LOS PROFESIONALES QUE LO REALIZAN

El procedimiento de manga gástrica endoscópica se debe llevar a acabo en un hospital, en un quirófano donde se realizan cirugías, ya que propiamente eso es, pero se realiza a través de un endoscopio, sin una sola incisión en el abdomen.

EL REDO

El especialista en endoscopia intervencionista Juan Carlos Caramés Aranda comentó que actualmente hay un gran porcentaje de personas que se sometieron a una manga gástrica quirúrgica y después de un tiempo han vuelto a ganar peso, incluso más que antes de su cirugía.

Agregó que actualmente el problema se puede revertir con el procedimiento endoscópico de “Redo”, que consiste en volver a suturar el interior del estómago y reducir nuevamente su tamaño.

“Se hace mediante una endoscopia, que representa una gran ventaja ya que si se hace por fuera mediante cirugía abierta o laparoscópica, se encontrará fibrosis, adherencias o cicatrización alrededor del estómago debido al procedimiento anterior”, puntualizó el médico.

Dijo además que existen pacientes que han sido sometidos a una cirugía de bypass gástrico, que con el tiempo ingieren mayor cantidad de alimentos de lo debido, provocando que la unión del estómago con el intestino se haga más grande y vuelven a ganar peso.

“Y entonces con la sutura Endoscópica con el sistema Apollo, podemos reducir nuevamente el tamaño de esa anastomosis (la unión del intestino y estómago) para cerrarlo al tamaño original que es de alrededor de un centímetro y medio o dos máximo y entonces nuevamente el paciente volverá a bajar de peso”, refirió el entrevistado.

PREPARACIÓN DEL PACIENTE

El Endoscopista Intervencionista comentó que el paciente no requiere de ninguna preparación especial, sólo debe cenar algo lige-

ro, pero ningún esfuerzo riguroso o que requiera modificar hábitos o hacer dieta.

“Sin embargo, se debe de estudiar bien al paciente antes del procedimiento, pues se debe realizar una endoscopia previa para identificar los síntomas digestivos, pues la gran mayoría tiene úlceras o gastritis, infección causada por una bacteria denominada Helicobacter pylori, mismas que han de ser atendidas antes de llevar a cabo la Manga Gástrica Endoscópica”, especificó.

PIONEROS EN EL PROCEDIMIENTO

El procedimiento de manga gástrica endoscópica tiene alrededor de cinco años que se inició en Estados Unidos, en dos centros hospitalarios, uno de ellos fue el Hospital Well Cornell donde trabaja el doctor Michele Kahaleh, pionero y amigo de Juan Carlos Caramés Aranda quienes en asociación realizan dicho procedimiento en Reynosa.

“El doctor Michele Kahaleh fue el primero en realizar un procedimiento de Manga Gástrica por endoscopia y ahora en la Unión Americana, mientras que en México sólo lo estamos realizando en el Centro de Gastroenterología y Endoscopia Intervencionista en la colonia Del Prado, por la fa-

cilidad que tenemos de poder obtener la sutura endoscópica”, detalló Caramés Aranda.

Citó también que no sólo se trata de tener el endoscopio de doble canal y el sistema de sutura; se requiere una capacitación muy ardua e importante para poder aprender a manejar el sistema y entender la fisiología del estómago, los pros y los beneficios de estos procedimientos; entender las alteraciones que se hacen con los otros procedimientos y someterse a capacitación de esta técnica endoscópica para poder ofrecerlo a los pacientes.

Mencionó que dentro de los pacientes que se han sometido ha este procedimiento de México y Estados Unidos se tienen ya seis pacientes con excelente éxito, no ha habido ninguna complicación, todos están satisfechos; el que más ha bajado de peso ya tiene más de un año de realizado el procedimiento, ha perdido casi 60 +kilos.

“Ese paciente se encuentra muy feliz y hasta su esposa dice que no lo conoce como ahora es, pues su personalidad ha cambiado al igual que su sentido del humor. Ahora se ve y actúa diferente”, agregó.

“The wigs were made and channeled to people who needed them, but they practically did not stay here, they went to other places,” said Ramírez.

For that reason, the founder of Red de Emergencias Reynosa attended training for the development of oncological wigs and that, in this way, the people of Reynosa who needed them could have access to them.

In October, due to the International Day of the Fight Against Breast Cancer the campaign was resumed and photographs were taken to the donors with a thank you to share it in social networks, which generated a good response in society and prompted to join.

“In October we gathered eight braids and at the beginning of November Leticia started making the wigs here, so it was decided to implement the campaign permanently,” she said.

Because facing cancer is not only fighting the disease, but also having good emotional health and strong self-esteem to win the battle, Red de Emergencias Reynosa, A.C., launched the Permanent Hair Donation Campaign.

Its purpose is to collect hair for the realization of oncological wigs for women who have lost it during cancer treatment.

Leticia Larios is the founder and president of the Reynosa Emergency Network, A.C. and who along with other volunteers implemented this campaign.

It was in May of last year when it began after a person with limited resources with cancer came to ask for help and the Oncology Center of Tamaulipas channeled it to Ciudad Victoria to be attended.

“The lady did not have insurance, nor Seguro Popular, hence the idea of doing a campaign for hair collection, because in addition, the association seeks to help vulnerable people,” said volunteer Karina Ramírez.

Her entry into the association was four years ago, after finding a publication and since then she supports the toy collection campaign that takes place in December and in the school supplies that takes place in June and July.

The president of the association, Leticia Larios said that what is intended is “create the culture of hair donation because we know how important it is to support people who are going through this stage and especia-

Porque enfrentar el cáncer no es solamente combatir la enfermedad, sino también, tener una buena salud emocional y una autoestima fuerte para ganar la batalla, Red de Emergencias Reynosa, A.C., lanzó la Campaña Permanente de Donación de Cabello.

Su finalidad es recolectar cabello para la realización de pelucas oncológicas para mujeres que lo han perdido durante el tratamiento contra el cáncer.

“Anyone who is going through some oncological treatment and needs a wig or winter hats we have available and if we do not have their measure they are taken and placed on the waiting list while it is being prepared,” Larios said.

The Reynosa Emergency Network has been working for about three years with approximately ten volunteers in order to provide support to vulnerable people who suffer from different situations.

“We promote the love for our most needy neighbors with volunteers who volunteer their time and support in a disinterested way,” said the founder.

Fue en mayo del año pasado cuando inició, luego de que una persona de escasos recursos con cáncer se acercó para solicitar ayuda y el Centro Oncológico de Tamaulipas la canalizó a Ciudad Victoria para ser atendida.

“La señora no tenía seguro, ni Seguro Popular, de ahí surgió la idea de hacer una campaña para recolección de cabello, porque además, la asociación busca ayudar a gente vulnerable”, mencionó la voluntaria Karina Ramírez.

Su ingreso a la asociación fue hace cuatro años, luego de encontrar una publicación y desde entonces apoya en la campaña de recolección de juguetes que se realiza en diciembre y en la de útiles escolares que se hace en junio y julio.

La presidenta de la asociación, Leticia Larios dijo que lo que se pretende es “crear la cultura de la donación de cabello porque sabemos lo importante que es el apoyo a personas que estén pasando esta etapa y sobre todo que el verse bien da más fuerzas para afrontar la enfermedad”.

El Centro Miravalle, la Universidad Interamericana del Norte y Bella Imagen Salón, fungieron como centros de acopio durante la campaña, en el último negocio, las personas podían acudir a donar su trenza y el corte de cabello era gratis.

Karina Ramírez platicó que era un proceso muy largo el que debía realizarse, pues una vez recolectadas las trenzas debían mandarse a Ciudad Victoria, al DIF Estatal y de ahí a Puebla a una asociación que realizaba las pelucas.

“Se realizaban las pelucas y se canalizaban a gente que las necesitara, pero prácticamente no quedaban aquí, se iban a otras partes”, expuso Ramírez.

Por eso, la fundadora de Red de Emergencias Reynosa asistió a capacitaciones para la elaboración de las pelucas oncológicas y que de esta manera, las personas de Reynosa que las necesitaran pudieran tener acceso a ellas.

En el mes de octubre, debido a El Día Internacional de la Lucha Contra el Cáncer de Mama se retomó la campaña y se tomaron fotografías a los donadores con un agradecimiento para compartirlo en redes sociales, lo que generó una buena respuesta en la sociedad y los impulsó a unirse.

“En octubre juntamos ocho trenzas y a principios de noviembre Leticia empezó a elaborar las pelucas aquí, por lo que se decidió implementar la campaña de forma permanente”, expuso.

DONAR CABELLO ES DONAR AMOR

Hasta Bella Imagen Salón, ubicado en Balcones de Alcalá y propiedad de Karina Ramírez, llegan en promedio tres personas por semana a donar sus trenzas y posteriormente es recogido por Larios para fabricar las pelucas.

Las personas que deseen donar su cabello deberán llevarlo limpio y de preferencia no teñido, aunque Karina Ramírez dijo que no necesariamente debe ser virgen y que si está teñido que no sea muy rubio.

También debe ser sano, que sea resistente, que no sea muy quebradizo o reseco.

La trenza deberá medir por lo menos 25

centímetros, sin embargo, también se aceptan de hasta 20 centímetros porque los cabellos cortos sirven para hacer flequillos y gorritos.

“Con 25 centímetros haces una peluca con largo hasta el hombro, hay trenzas muy delgaditas y otras más gruesas, pero en promedio para hacer una se ocupan entre cinco a seis”, detalló.

Se elaboran con una tela especial tipo lycra y no se utilizan materiales que puedan poner en riesgo la salud de los pacientes, Leticia Larios las realiza a mano, pues como va empezando no cuenta aún con la maquinaria necesaria.

Deben dársele ciertos cuidados para su conservación, por ejemplo, lavar el cabello dos veces por semana, pero no mojar la parte del gorro y desenredarlo con un cepillo de cerdas ancho.

Si se trata correctamente la peluca oncológica puede durar hasta un año o incluso más.

“Hemos tenido más afluencia de niñas y adolescentes, pero no importa la edad para donar su cabello”, aclaró Karina Ramírez.

Sin embargo, quienes no reúnan los requisitos para donar su cabello también pueden apoyar la campaña aportando pañoletas, gorros o sombreros.

Los interesados en donar su trenza pueden llevarla en una bolsa ziploc a la Universidad Interamericana del Norte, al Centro Comunitario Miravalle o a Bella Imagen Salón, en donde además, destinan los lunes de 16:00 a 19:00 horas para cortar el cabello completamente gratuito.

“Cualquier persona que esté pasando por algún tratamiento oncológico y necesite alguna peluca o gorritos de invierno tenemos disponibles y si no tenemos de su medida se le toma y se pone en lista de espera mientras se elabora”, comentó Larios.

La Red de Emergencias Reynosa trabaja desde hace tres años con aproximadamente diez voluntarios con la finalidad de brindar apoyo a personas vulnerables que sufren por diferentes situaciones.

“Fomentamos el amor por nuestros semejantes más necesitados con voluntarios que nos brindan su tiempo y apoyo de forma desinteresada”, externó su fundadora.

“These days they eat too much and their glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride levels are altered. Then they come with hypertensive crises, very high glucose levels that lead to diabetic ketoacidosis.

“Prancreatitis is something very common and often spoil the celebration to others, because they must move emergency at midnight or very early to the hospital,” he said.

Por José Manuel Meza Los cuidados del organismo en la alimentación es un aspecto que se desatiende sobre todo en los últimos meses del año y en 2018 no fue la excepción.

La colorida atmósfera que envuelve a las fiestas decembrinas, las posadas y la llegada del Año Nuevo tienen implícitas celebraciones y también exquisitas viandas.

Los pasteles, los postres, los tamales, los pavos, las pastas, los ponches y otros antojos predominaron en esta temporada e, inclusive, con los recalentados y el Día de Reyes.

Sin embargo, no todo fue dicha y felicidad, principalmente para quienes tienen problemas de salud relacionados con la alimentación ni para los que comieron excesivamente y ahora quieren cuidar su figura.

“Todo mundo tiene en mente de que llega diciembre y no se puede hacer dieta, que va a consumir de todo, pues al fin que son las fiestas… Así que muchos son los que piensan que deben dejarse llevar y comer hasta saciarse.

“Y si lo analizamos bien en ese mes hay dos fechas principales, que son el equivalente a otros meses donde tenemos cenas así, pero el detalle radica en que agarran también las posadas como pretexto para desatar todo lo que no han hecho en el resto del año y ahí es donde vienen los problemas”, ma-

nifestó Jorge de Jesús Garza Flores.

El licenciado en Nutrición y Ciencias de los Alimentos por la Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), educador en Diabetes por la Universidad La Salle y máster en Salud Pública por la Universidad México Americana del Norte (UMAN), aseguró que precisamente es en esta época cuando las personas terminan en las salas de urgencias de los hospitales, porque tienen muchos problemas de alta presión y de diabetes.

“Esos días comen demasiado y se alteran sus niveles de glucosa, colesterol y triglicéridos. Entonces llegan con crisis hipertensivas, niveles de glucosa muy elevados que llevan a una cetoacidosis diabética.

“La prancreatitis es algo también muy común y muchas veces le echan a perder el festejo a los demás, porque los deben de trasladar de emergencia a medianoche o muy temprano al hospital”, afirmó.

TERMINAN CON DIABETES

Por ende el especialista desde antes que comenzaron las fiestas decembrinas les hizo hincapié a sus pacientes de que necesitaban ser muy cuidadosos, porque la comida muy abundante o en una ingesta excesiva de alcohol puede descontrolar al organismo y provocar complicaciones médicas y hasta derivar en diabetes.

“En general hay que entender que alguien

tenga o no una de esas enfermedades crónicas debe de tomar las recomendaciones de cuidar la cantidad de sodio, azúcares y grasas. Esas tres cosas todo mundo las debe de atender, sin importar si se tiene o no uno de los padecimientos antes mencionados”, insistió.

Argumentó Garza Flores que durante la temporada festiva había personas que ya estaban en los niveles como prediabéticos, pero como consecuencia del abuso de comida arrancaron el 2019 ya como nuevos enfermos de diabetes o hipertensión.

“Hay gente que puede estar mal y no se siente enferma, que puede padecer alta presión, colesterol, triglicéridos y azúcar y no se da cuenta.

“Y existen quienes se encuentran en el límite y esos días consumieron grandes cantidades de azúcares, grasas o sal y se les disparó la enfermedad, haciéndose visible con los síntomas y a partir de ahí es cuando se desencadena.

“Existen personas que me han tocado, pacientes que llegan a terapia intensiva a causa de una cena muy abundante con menudos, pozoles y cosas así, que terminan con una pancreatitis y jóvenes, de 20, 22 años, y la cuestión que una pancreatitis puede desencadenar diabetes, por la presión al páncreas que hace que se afecte su funcionamiento”, advirtió.

ALIMENTOS NOCIVOS

Argumentó el entrevistado que algunas de las comidas que contienen mucha grasa son el menudo, las carnes y las costillas también, al igual que las pastas con cremas, mantequillas y aderezos.

“Ahí es recomendable acudir al hospital para revisar las encimas pancreáticas y verificar si están elevadas. Hay condiciones en las que no llegamos a situaciones tan graves, pero que sí requieren una hospitalización, como congestiones alcohólicas y gastritis, esofagitis, colitis, reflujo y otros síntomas muy molestos que pueden causar dolores fuertes por el consumo de alimentos grasosos, irritantes o con demasiados condimentos.

“Se necesita desinflamar el sistema digestivo, calmar el dolor. No importa que las personas no tengan una enfermedad crónico–degenerativa y eviten comer todo lo que puedan”, externó.

¿QUÉ SIGUE?

Acerca de la cerveza el nutriólogo señaló que contiene azúcares y alcohol, con muchas calorías que afectan al páncreas, así como al hígado.

“Debemos tener cuidado con las cantidades. Las recomendaciones en general son muy bajas para lo que la población está acostumbrada, que son dos porciones de alcohol para los hombres y una para las mujeres.

“Pero en una fiesta consumen de manera individual mayores cantidades y hay quienes entendiendo eso piensan no tomar cerveza, sino alguna otra bebida destilada como el whisky y el tequila, porque según tiene menos calorías.

“No obstante, aunque los destilados no llevan tanta azúcar, la concentración de alcohol es mucho mayor. El volumen en una cerveza puede ser del 3 al 5 por ciento, mientras que en otras bebidas es del 40 por ciento, y muchas veces lo que hacen es combinarlas con bebidas azucaradas como refrescos, jugos y es una mala combinación”, ilustró.

DERRIBANDO MITOS

Por el contrario, dijo Garza Flores que existen quienes equivocadamente, en su intención de no subir tanto de peso en las fechas decembrinas ayunaron a lo largo del día.

“Pero debe ser todo lo contrario: no haber dejado de comer para esperar la cena. La recomendación fue que en el transcurso del día se debía llevar una alimentación habitual y comer una pequeña colación para evitar consumir grandes cantidades.

“Nos referimos a una porción de fruta, yogurt sin azúcar, alguna gelatina o ensalada con limón, pepino y jícama para tratar de disminuir la sensación de hambre y cuando llegara la cena comportarnos y comer solamente las porciones necesarias”, reiteró.

El platillo, expresó, nunca se tiene que llenar exageradamente, sino contener los alimentos bien distribuidos.

“La mitad debe tener vegetales. La otra requiere dividirse en dos partes: un cuarto de carbohidratos (arroz, espagueti, puré de papa) y la otra cuarta parte del plato de productos de origen animal (pavo u otra carne que se vaya a consumir).

“De esa manera lo que hacemos es reducir la cantidad de grasas y carbohidratos y al llenar el volumen del estómago con vegetales que son bajos en azúcares y grasas con el resto quedo satisfecho sin incurrir en un exceso de calorías. Siempre esa proporción es la más adecuada a donde vayamos, estemos de fiesta o no”, aseguró el nutricionista.

El 2019 llegó y con él, según Garza Flores deben cumplirse los propósitos que se supone se debieron haber hecho desde el año pasado o el antepasado.

“El peso y las enfermedades crónicas degenerativas no saben de fechas. ¿Qué hacer?, lo que no hicimos. Es muy simple: tratar de realizar cinco horas de actividad a la semana.

Comer adecuadamente, aumentar los vegetales y productos de origen animal (proteína) bajos en grasa y moderar los frijoles, arroz, tortilla, pan, pastas (los carbohidratos).

“Si hacemos una actividad física constante y una buena distribución de alimentos no tengo por qué preocuparme de nada, el problema es que estamos muy acostumbrados a tomar muchas bebidas azucaradas y entonces las combinaciones de comida rápida con muchas calorías y bebidas azucaradas son cantidades de energía muy grandes que al no gastarlas se transforman en grasa y comenzamos a acumular peso”, ejemplarizó.

Por eso, el máster en Salud Pública dijo que es importante comprender que el que alguien se sienta en estado óptimo no significa que esté bien y que las enfermedades pueden aparecer de un momento a otro, así que se necesita reducir los riesgos.

“Una buena alimentación y actividad física siempre es la base de cualquier tratamiento.

Cuando no sabemos las consecuencias de nuestros actos pues los hacemos, pero una vez que ya tenemos la información y entendemos que lo que estamos comiendo puede afectar nuestra salud es más fácil que tomemos conciencia y tratemos de llevar a cabo las recomendaciones.

“Es muy válido utilizar el glucómetro, sobre todo si tenemos diabetes o manejamos niveles altos de glucosa. Debe saberse utilizar en los tiempos correctos y nos va a dar información muy valiosa para saber qué tanto podemos o no consumir carbohidratos”, recomendó.

Al final, Garza Flores ponderó que si los niveles de glucosa ya de por sí son altos, es un indicativo de que no debe permitirse comer de más, al igual que quienes quieren comenzar el 2019 cuidando su salud, porque de lo contrario, llegará el 2020 más con propósitos incumplidos que por cumplir.

Properly kidney stones or kidney stones by definition as such, does not exist, but this pathology is due to the association of crystals, minerals and/or components that are acquired in the diet, certain metabolic or digestive effects, which give rise to the formation of what is medically called nephrolithiasis or nephrocalcinosis, explained Lemuel Obed Meza Suárez.

The pediatric nephrologist added that although this condition does not occur only in adults, but also in minors, where the symptoms vary depending on the age of the patients.

He commented that in general, older children and adolescents produce the typical picture of nephritic colic and its diagnosis is simpler: pain in the lower back that radiates to the pelvis and genitals, difficulty urinating, bleeding from the urine, nausea, vomiting.

“In the case of pediatric patients present abdominal pain and in the back or flanks associated with vomiting; in some cases, dysuria appears, that is, burning during urination or the sensation of constantly going to urinate, are subtle manifestations, sometimes without pain or other apparent manifestations,” he explained.

THE INFECTION

After mentioning that the etiology of the condition is caused by environmental, dietary, infectious, metabolic or genetic factors, he warned that nephrocalcinosis develops by infection, primarily, by acidifying the urine.

He indicated that the existence of a risk factor that is associated with future diseases since the nephrocalcinosis can be treated at an early age, the disease may evolve in the obstruction or calculus in the kidney, or the organ may end up with a chronic kidney disease.

“That is the main risk in this type of patients; what we try to avoid is that the kidney is injured and the patient ends up on dialysis or hemodialysis and a poor quality of life,” he said.

DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

In order to detect this condition, the symptomatology must be perfectly identified, according to Meza Suárez, it begins with affectations in the daily life of the minors.

“There are patients who only arrive with alteration in the color of the urine, this can cause not only in the patient a certain fear of being bleeding from the waste, so risky that this may represent, but also the family member takes it to medical attention,” he commented.

He explained that the change in coloration in the urine scares the patient about something very serious that affects health and can be confused with a tumor or something else.

tious, metabolic or genetic factors, the strategic plan is defined, beginning with the inculcation of water consumption by patients and families.

“The little ones who suffer from this disease oscillate between 5 and 10 years and as these patients reach their adolescence the pathology increases,” he said.

He also stated that if the patient is less than 10 years old, it is obvious that his parents need to take care of him, therefore, the importance of instilling a good hydration, reducing the consumption of certain foods that increase minerals.

“Therefore we try to maintain a relative restriction in this type of food and the respective hydration, of at least two liters of water per day, to try to maintain the greater fluidity of the urinary volume,” he said.

NUMBERS IN THE WORLD

The doctor commented that in Mexico, unfortunately, there is no incidence rate for this type of pathology, while in the United States there has been an increase of twice as many in the patients.

“Before the nineties, it was 7 percent of the population and currently stands at 14, figures that are handled by the U.S.A. ... It is important to know that in recent decades there has been a progressive increase in the number of people that suffer from it, as well as an advance in the age of appearance on patients, in such a way that in recent years his incidence in childhood has multiplied fivefold,” he explained.

COMMON CAUSES

Obed Meza Suarez said that the causes are multiple, in some cases, there are genetic alterations that produce an alteration of the metabolism that may favor its appearance.

For that reason it listed some as idiopathic hypercalciuria, which is the metabolic anomaly of genetic origin; hypocitraturia, that is, the elimination of citric acid; hyperoxaluria, hereditary metabolic disorder; hyperuricosuria, is the increased elimination of

uric acid and cystinuria, caused by an excess of cystine in the urine; all of them, cases in which there is usually a family history of people with kidney stones.

The doctor explained that in other cases may be favored by the existence of urinary infections or malformations of the kidneys or the urinary tract. However, the increase mentioned above seems to be due to changes in dietary habits that have occurred in recent years.

“On the one hand, the excess of salt, calcium (in dairy products), oxalate (present in chocolate and cola drinks) and proteins of animal origin favor the formation of kidney stones. On the other hand, the decrease in the consumption of ‘protective’ nutrients against their production, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains,” he said.

PATH TO DEATH

He warned about the importance of preventing this type of suffering since worldwide chronic kidney diseases reach the figure of

800 million patients with these diseases, of which 200 million are minors; so he reiterated it is essential to prevent it and give it the importance that is due.

“And it can be deadly; because there are complications in the future; in the case of chronic kidney disease it leads to difficulties at the blood level; they are patients who live with severe anemia or can develop cardiovascular diseases on a large scale or due to their same renal tone develop bone defects, there are many complications at the chronic renal level,” he said.

Given the above, recommended to educate the children with a good and healthy homemade and balanced diet, also teach them to drink enough water and hydrate well; more if they live in a hot place or where too many liquids are lost.

Los cálculos o piedras en los riñones son un padecimiento que afecta a niños con sobrepeso, con malos hábitos alimentarios, por consumir alimentos chatarra o procesados, con gran cantidad de sal, refrescos o el bajo consumo de agua.

Propiamente los cálculos renales o piedras en los riñones por definición como tal, no existe, pero dicha patología se debe a la asociación de cristales, minerales y/o componentes que se adquieren en la dieta, ciertos efectos metabólicos o digestivos, que dan pie a la formación de lo que médicamente se denomina nefrolitiasis o nefrocalcinosis, detalló Lemuel Obed Meza Suárez.

El nefrólogo pediatra agregó que aunque este padecimiento no se presenta sólo en adultos, sino también en los menores de edad, donde los síntomas varían dependiendo de la edad de los pacientes.

Comentó que en general los niños mayores y adolescentes produce el cuadro típico del cólico nefrítico y su diagnóstico es más sencillo: dolor en la zona lumbar que se irradia hacia la pelvis y los genitales, dificultad para la micción, sangrado por la orina, náuseas, vómitos.

“En el caso de los pacientes pediátricos presentan dolor abdominal y en la parte posterior o en los flancos asociado con vómitos; en algunos casos aparece disuria, es decir, ardor al orinar o sensación de estar constantemente yendo a orinar, son manifestaciones sutiles, a veces sin dolor, ni otras manifestaciones aparentes”, explicó.

Añadió que existen factores que influyen para desarrollar la patología en los menores, como la poca ingesta de líquido, que están a la intemperie o que realizan ejercicio o actividad física constante.

“Esos son los pacientes que a futuro tiene riesgo a desarrollar lito renales, además de otros asociados como los genéticos, es decir, con antecedentes familiares con la misma enfermedad”, precisó.

LOS VARONES SON BLANCO

En cuanto al sexo en el que se presenta con mayor frecuencia advirtió que se ha visto mayor predisposición en los varones, principalmente

porque inician su actividad sexual a temprana edad, asociado ello con lo infectológico.

Detalló que últimamente se ha incrementado la tasa de este tipo de patologías, en comparación con los años 90, debido a los cambios alimenticios de los pacientes menores de edad, así mismo como a ciertos cambios físicos.

“También hay sobrepeso en los niños, malos hábitos alimentarios provocados por consumir alimentos chatarra o procesados, con gran cantidad de sal o el consumo de refrescos, por ellos se incrementa el índice de litiasis o nefrolitiasis renal asociado de la misma manera a quienes consumen muy poco líquido”, afirmó.

tales, dietéticos, infectológicos, metabólico o genéticos, advirtió que se desarrolla la nefrocalcinosis por infección, primordialmente, al acidificarse la orina.

“Si cambia el PH, es decir, aumenta la acidez en la orina, se ocasiona que haya una concentración diferente en el desecho líquido y provoca la infección, aunque por malos hábitos higiénicos que también se pueden adquirir”, precisó. Indicó que la existencia de un factor de riesgo se asocia a enfermedades futuras, pues de atenderse a temprana edad la nefrocalcinosis, puede evolucionar la enfermedad en la obstrucción o cálculo en el riñón y va a ocasionar daño en ese órgano, o bien, concluya con una enfermedad de riñón crónica.

“Ese es el principal riesgo en ese tipo de pacientes; lo que tratamos de evitar es que ese riñón se lesione y termine en paciente de

La jornada de registro para el Programa de Becas 2019 arrancó en el Auditorio Municipal de Vista Hermosa, a donde acudieron estudiantes de preescolar, arte, deportes, capacidades diferentes, así como niños y jóvenes de Casas Hogar.

diálisis o hemodiálisis y una pésima calidad de vida”, advirtió.

DIAGNOSTICO Y TRATAMIENTO

Para poder detectar dicho padecimiento se debe identificar perfectamente la sintomatología, de acuerdo con Meza Suárez, inicia con afectaciones en la vida diaria de los menores.

“Hay pacientes que llegan solamente con alteración en el color de la orina, eso puede causar no sólo en el paciente cierto temor al estar sangrando por los desechos, por lo riesgoso que esto pueda representar, sino también al familiar lo lleva a la atención médica”, explicó.

Detalló que el cambio de coloración en la orina atemoriza al paciente sobre algo muy grave que afecta la salud y puede confundirse con un tumor o algo más.

Sin embargo, puede ser la razón por la que se estudia detalladamente este tipo de pacientes, porque un sangrado en la orina no es normal y dijo que tampoco significa que el paciente se vaya a desangrar, sino establecer el origen, el porqué.

Principalmente iniciamos con un examen de orina, para detectar ciertas partículas que se llaman solutos o densidades que se mantienen en dicho líquido y éstas nos dan formaciones de cristales y se cristaliza”, explicó.

Agregó que en caso de duda, teniendo en cuenta que pueden presentarse litiasis e infección de orina en el mismo niño, una como consecuencia de la otra, ha de añadirse antibiótico al tratamiento.

“Otro estudio que se puede realizar para un buen diagnóstico es la ecografía abdominal. En algunos casos puede ser necesaria la realización de otras pruebas de imagen, tales como el Uro-TAC o la Uro-resonancia magnética”, detalló.

Dijo que en caso de producirse litiasis de repetición, o si existen antecedentes familiares, es recomendable que el niño sea valorado por un especialista en nefrología infantil.

Dado que produce un dolor intenso y que puede generar afectación del estado general y de hidratación en niños, se suele requerir hospitalización para administrar fluidos intravenosos y antiinflamatorios y/o analgésicos.

Los cálculos pequeños suelen expulsarse espontáneamente, con la micción. Los más grandes suelen necesitar tratamiento con litotricia (una técnica que favorece la fragmentación del cálculo) o finalmente de una cirugía.

Añadió que tras identificar la etiología producida por factores ambientales, dietéticos, infectológicos, metabólicos o genéticos, se define el plan estratégico, iniciando con inculcar mayormente a los pacientes y familiares el consumo de agua.

“Los pequeño que padecen dicha enfermedad oscila entre los 5 ó 10 años y en la medida en que estos pacientitos van llegando a su adolescencia se va incrementando la patología”, comentó.

Precisó además que si el paciente es menor de 10 años, es obvio que sus padres se encarguen de él, por ello, la importancia de incul-

car una buena hidratación, disminuir el consumos de ciertos alimentos que incrementan los minerales.

“Por ello tratamos de mantener una relativa restricción en este tipo de alimentos y la respectiva hidratación, de al menos, dos litros de agua por día, para tratar de mantener la mayor fluidez del volumen urinario”, expresó.

NÚMEROS EN EL MUNDO

El medico comentó que en México lastimosamente no hay una tasa de incidencia para este tipo de patología, mientras que en Estados Unidos se ha presentado un incremento del doble en los enfermos.

“Antes de los noventa estaba en un 7 por ciento de la población y actualmente se ubica en un 14, cifras que se maneja la Unión Americana… Es importante conocer que en las últimas décadas se ha producido un incremento progresivo del número de personas que la padece, así como un adelanto en su edad de aparición, de tal forma que en los últimos años se ha multiplicado por cinco su incidencia en la infancia” explicó.

LAS CAUSAS COMUNES

Obed Meza Suárez precisó que las causas son múltiples, en algunos casos existen alteraciones genéticas que producen un cambio del metabolismo, que puede favorecer su aparición.

Por ello enlistó algunas como la hipercalciuria idiopática, que es la anomalía metabólica de origen genético; la hipocitraturia, es decir, la eliminación del ácido cítrico; hiperoxaluria, desorden metabólico hereditario; la hiperuricosuria, es la eliminación incrementada de ácido úrico y la cistinuria, causada por un exceso de cistina en la orina; todos ellos, casos en los que suele haber antecedentes familiares de personas con cálculos renales.

El médico explicó que en otros casos pueden verse favorecidas por la existencia de infecciones de orina o de malformaciones de los riñones o de la vía urinaria. No obstante, el incremento antes mencionado parece deberse a los cambios en los hábitos dietéticos que se han producido en los últimos años.

“Por un lado, el exceso de sal, de calcio (en productos lácteos), de oxalato (presente en el chocolate y los refrescos de cola) y de proteínas de origen animal favorecen la formación de cálculos renales. Por otro lado, el descenso del consumo de nutrientes ‘protectores’ frente a su producción, tales como las frutas, verduras,

legumbres y cereales integrales”, precisó.

CAMINO A LA MUERTE

Advirtió sobre la importancia de prevenir ese tipo de padecimientos, ya que a nivel mundial las enfermedades renales crónicas alcanzan la cifra de 800 millones de pacientes con estas patologías, de los cuales 200 millones son menores de edad; por lo que reiteró es primordial prevenirlo y darles al importancia que se debe.

“Y es que puede ser mortal; pues hay complicaciones a futuro; tratándose de una enfermedad renal crónica lleva a dificultades a nivel de sangre; son pacientes que viven con anemia severa, o pueden desarrollar a gran

escala enfermedades cardiovasculares o por su misma tonicidad renal desarrollar defectos a nivel óseo, son muchas complicaciones a nivel crónico renal”, afirmó.

Ante lo anterior recomendó educar a los hijos con una buena y sana alimentación casera y equilibrada, además inculcar tomar suficiente agua e hidratarse bien; más si viven en un lugar caluroso o donde se pierdan demasiados líquidos.

“Lo ideal es la hidratación con agua no sustituirla por refresco. Además de actividad física para evitar incremento de peso, ya que también se ha visto en relación con este tipo de patologías”, expresó.

Utilizando las tijeras de la vida, adquiridas por la alcaldesa Maki Ortiz Domínguez en su recién concluida primera administración, dos instructores y el personal de la dependencia utilizaron esta herramienta para cortar un vehículo colisionado en simulacro, y extraer con seguridad a la víctima para ser dirigida a atención médica.

“El taller ‘Salvar Vidas’ tiene el objetivo de que los elementos cuenten con mejor conocimiento en el uso de herramientas especiales y logren buen récord

de actuación con resultados satisfactorios al atender un accidente vehicular” aseguró José Federico Pérez Lozano, encargado de Protección Civil Municipal.

En 2018 el municipio compró su primer camión de bomberos nuevo, dos ambulancias, dos unidades contraincendio y rescate, entre 32 vehículos para otras áreas, con 83 millones de pesos, para mejorar el desempeño con mayor seguridad de los elementos de bomberos, que también por primera vez, recibieron equipo personal y tanques de respiración autónomos nuevos.

Pérez Lozano destacó el interés que la alcaldesa de Reynosa manifiesta por los ciudadanos y aseguró que los talleres “Salvar Vidas” serán ampliados a prácticas demostrativas en rescate de casa habitación en incendio y rescate acuático de vehículos para que los reynosenses conserven esa certeza de tener rescatistas y bomberos preparados.

DIF Madero works to prevent cancer

Una de las estrategias para evitar encharcamientos en las calles es la eliminación de los desechos sólidos de los drenajes pluviales, trabajo que realiza la Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado de Reynosa.

En este sentido, la Comapa da seguimiento a las instrucciones de la alcaldesa municipal Maki Esther Ortiz Domínguez, al enviar personal para extraer basura, piedras y lodo de los pluviales con el fin de que éstos tengan funcionalidad.

Lo anterior se pudo constatar en la avenida Fundadores con calle Cedro, en la colonia Del Valle, asimismo en el bulevar Luis Echeverría, al poniente del corazón del primer cuadro de la ciudad.

En la colonia Del Valle el personal de la Comapa extrajo en su mayoría lodo, en tanto que en el bulevar Luis Echeverría se limpió el pluvial de basura, bolsas y botellas de plástico.

La comisión de agua y drenaje de la ciudad reitera el exhorto a los ciudadanos de no tirar la basura en la calle, ya que ésta es la causa principal de los taponamientos de las redes de drenaje y pluviales.

Lograr una dentadura brillante es posible gracias al blanqueamiento dental aplicado por un especialista, que evitará daños y lesiones.

Por Beatriz Flores Una sonrisa blanca y brillante es uno de los grandes sueños de muchas personas, por eso cada día recurren a diferentes tratamientos y acciones para lograr aclarar su dentadura, pero no todos son recomendados.

El acudir con un especialista médico es siempre la mejor opción y el dentista René Rosas, especialista en Odontología Restauradora e Implantología dijo que el blanqueamiento dental es el que puede lograrlo.

El blanqueamiento dental es un tratamiento para lograr reducir varios tonos del color original de las piezas dentales y aunque hay algunas técnicas que pueden hacerse en casa lo ideal es hacerlo en el consultorio.

Primero se realiza una limpieza en los dientes, como un pulido para que la sustancia que se aplica pueda penetrar de forma correcta.

Posteriormente se coloca una resina en las encías para aislarlas y así protegerlas de sufrir una quemadura.

“Utilizamos una técnica con una lámpara de luz especial que se coloca durante 30 o 40 minutos para que se active la sustancia y realice el blanqueamiento, en casa pueden aplicarse una sustancia en guardas que se colocan en los dientes, como tipo fundas pero el efecto es menor y a largo plazo”, explicó.

Será durante dos semanas que el paciente deberá realizar este procedimiento en su hogar, mientras que la técnica profesional puede hacerse cada seis meses como un mantenimiento.

En el mercado se encuentran diferentes pastas dentales que ofrecen aclarar varios tonos los dientes, pero sus efectos son pocos, pues tienen una mínima concentración de blanqueamiento.

“Un blanqueamiento dental puede provocar algo de sensibilidad porque, por así decirlo, se abre un poco el poro del diente para lograr extraer el color que se

NO ARRIESGUE SUS DIENTES

En caso de que el paciente tenga los dientes muy descalcificados o tiene los cuellos muy expuestos, es decir, el área de las raíces, no es recomendable realizar el blanqueamiento.

Tras someterse a algún tratamiento para lucir una dentadura más blanca se deben evitar alimentos o bebidas con colorantes.

“Les pedimos que no consuman vino tinto, puré de tomate o de zanahoria, salsas rojas, refrescos de cola o café”, recomendó el especialista.

De igual forma, si nunca se ha aclarado los dientes, el consumir estos alimentos los oscurece gradualmente.

tiempo existe la creencia popular de que con algunos métodos caseros se pueden lograr unos dientes blancos y aunque pueden lograrse leves cambios, los dientes pueden sufrir algún daño.

Lo más común es el uso del bicarbonato y el agua oxigenada, pero ambos causan gran daño en la dentadura.

“Al cepillarse los dientes con bicarbonato se realiza una fricción que va haciendo poroso al diente, lo desgasta y produce un tipo de hongo”; mientras que el agua oxigenada provoca candidiasis, que es otro hongo”, enunció.

VÍCTIMAS DE LA PUBLICIDAD

Es común ver en la televisión, redes sociales o medios impresos a modelos o actores luciendo bellas sonrisas con blancos resplandecientes que inspiran a personas comunes a querer verse igual.

Sin embargo, no siempre es posible lograrlo, pues aunque existan múltiples técnicas, depende también de la genética de la persona.

“Todos quieren dientes blancos y uno hace lo que el paciente quiere para

que esté contento, lo que él no sabe es que hay un límite”, especificó.

Esto quiere decir que hay personas que sus dientes nunca han sido blancos, no porque estén manchados, sino por su propia naturaleza y aunque puedan aclararse varios tonos no alcanzarán un blanco puro.

“Tenemos que utilizar carillas de porcelana o resina para poder llegar a un blanco total, porque con el blanqueamiento nunca se va a lograr”, sentenció.

Manifestó que en Estados como Chihuahua y Durango, donde la concentración del flúor en el agua es muy alta, las personas tienen los dientes muy manchados.

Finalmente el dentista destacó que lo ideal es que las personas que se vayan a someter a un blanqueamiento dental sean mayores de edad, ya que así el nervio está más retirado del esmalte y hay menos problemas de sensibilidad.

“De hecho algunos se encuentran en la remodelación con muy buenas mejoras en sus instalaciones, tanto los médicos y dentistas, como los comercios de artesanías y del sector restaurantero. Hay locales nuevos muy bonitos, hay muy buenos lugares aquí”, expresó.

Los Algodones, en Baja California Norte, que es el único lugar con el que nos podemos comparar en el mundo.

“Este premio nos lo van a entregar en Cozumel, Quintana Roo, en el mes de mayo como uno de los pueblos de turismo médico más importantes y hospitalarios”, destacó.

RICO Y BARATO

Los ’Winter Texans’ no deben trasladarse hasta San Antonio, Dallas o Houston para poder tener un mejor diagnóstico de su salud bucal, ya que en la clínica del doctor Mustre cuentan con un aparato que hace tomografías en tercera dimensión, el cual no lo tienen ni en el valle de Texas. De esos equipos solamente existen dos en México.

Tan lejos ha llegado la fama de este pueblo en la frontera que los doctores reciben pacientes no solamente de Canadá y Estados Unidos, sino también de Asia y Europa.

Por ende Nuevo Progreso recibió el año 2019 con mucho trabajo gracias a los vacacionistas que además de divertirse acuden para atenderse algún problema de salud.

“Esto en la gastronomía y hablando de la cuestión médica los compañeros doctores, los dentistas y los químicos también están ofertando servicios de muy alta calidad, ya que han acudido a importantes congresos para incorporar los adelantos de la nueva medicina.

“Estamos a la vanguardia con la nanotecnología y los compañeros dentistas están muy preparados en los conocimientos.

“Asimismo, Nuevo Progreso se caracteriza por algo muy importante, que nosotros manejamos la medicina ambulatoria: vienen y en 24 horas resolvemos el problema, pero si es un asunto de alta especialidad canalizamos a los pacientes a Reynosa o Río Bravo”, manifestó.
