The First thing I would suggest is to balance your blood sugar levels.

If these are up and down you are more likely to have see-sawing energy, mood and concentration levels, this may lead to irritation and anxiety which may cause you to perspire more than is normal.

IS YOUR THYROID MAKING YOU TIRED ALL THE TIME? Your thyroid gland is found at the base of your throat and produces hormones that communicate with every cell in your body.

Nutrients to boost your thyroid You can support your thyroid gland nutritionally through diet and supplements. Iodine, tyrosine and selenium are some of the key minerals. Iodine is rich in seaweed and sea vegetables such as kelp and dulse. Tyrosine is found in fish, bananas, avocado and pumpkin seeds.

Selenium is found in brazil nuts, sunflower seeds and fish.

Essential fats are also vital to thyroid function so include oily fish, such as salmon and mackerel.

Other nutrients to support optimum thyroid function include zinc, vitamin A, vitamin C and B complex which can be found in specialised thyroid supplement formulations.

Limit problem foods The brassica family, such as spinach, cabbage, broccoli and kale contain substances that can inhibit the working of the thyroid gland, so it’s best to limit these foods or eat them cooked.

Other foods such as unfermented soya, sugar, gluten (if autoimmune, try removing completely) and refined foods should also be kept to a minimum.

Exercise Studies show that an increase in exercise can stimulate the thyroid gland so try to find an exercise that you enjoy and gradually build up to 30 minutes per day.

Stress Excessive stress hinders thyroid function. If you are someone who runs on adrenaline, then this will eventually affect your thyroid gland. Avoid stimulants, learn to deal with stressful situations in a different way, practice mindfulness or just take some time to yourself.

Raw Vanilla Goji Berries Energy Balls Ingredients: • 1 cup IIHF cashew nuts • 1 cup IIHF desiccated coconut • 1 lemon juice, plus rind • 1 tbsp vanilla essence • 1 to 2 tbsp true goji berries • 1/3 cup maple syrup • 1 pinch salt

1. In a food processor, blend cashews, coconut, half of the gojis and salt until the mixture is the consistency of fine flour.

2. While the blender is on, add the lemon juice, rind, maple syrup and vanilla essence until you reach a dough-like consistency.

3. Add the other half of the gojis for crunch and blend for a further minute.

4. Roll the mixture into 50-cent-size balls. Leave in the fridge until firm, approx. 15 mins.
