Feature Yacht: Lazy Daze
Lazy Daze
Horizon’s E Series of motor yachts has long appealed
to clients worldwide for its sleek profile and wellbalanced layout. While the builder’s rapidly expanding Fast Displacement (FD) Series of high-volume motor yachts has appeared to take center stage, other yacht series in Horizon’s diverse offering have continued their own growth and evolution. Such is the case of the brand new E90, which combines a performance-oriented hull with a streamlined superstructure as the next-generation evolution of the E Series’ popular E88 model. This first E90 motor yacht was in build as a spec boat for the American market when she was contracted by experienced American yacht owners, who appreciated her classic styling and well-planned four-stateroom layout. The yacht’s plentiful deck areas were particularly appealing to the clients, who enjoy cruising the Caribbean and Bahamas.
Purchased just prior to her launch by experienced first-time Horizon owners, the first E90 motor yacht blends effortless styling with purposeful details.
The increased interior volume of the new E90 is evident from the dock—a feature made possible by the yacht’s enhanced hull design that affords a 21ft beam. Borrowing an extremely successful feature from the FD Series, this E90 is the first E Series yacht to be designed with the proprietary High Performance Piercing Bow (HPPB), a design proven to afford excellent seakeeping and stability.
Fitted with a fixed settee and a dining table, the E90’s aft deck features a wet bar to starboard, while to port, stairs lead to the enclosed wheelhouse and spacious boat deck above. Walkaround side decks to either side lead forward to the bow seating area, with crew quarter and engine room access both to port on the main deck and through the transom entrance on the swim platform. Light white ash and silver oak woods and white quartz stonework enhance the bright and airy feel of the interior. The main salon features a seating area comprised of an L-shaped white leather sofa with storage, a freestanding leather armchair and an ottoman opposite an entertainment center housing the television and A/V equipment. A dayhead is conveniently positioned aft to starboard to service both the interior and exterior areas on this deck.

A Hi/Lo partition separates the country kitchen-style galley from the main salon and dining.
Storage has been thoughtfully considered throughout the main salon, with storage nooks found within the base of the dining table, sofa and ottoman, as well as within the cupboards that run along the starboard side. Forward to port, the dining area has been fitted with an expanding oval table for eight surrounded by white leather dining chairs.
Lazy Daze features an open country kitchen-style galley with a U-shaped dinette that occupies the forwardmost space beneath the yacht’s sloped windows. A Hi/Lo partition in the large pass-through window separates the fully-equipped galley from the dining area and salon for privacy when desired. Topped with white quartz, a center island offers even more storage in this space. To starboard, a floating staircase climbs to the enclosed wheelhouse, while another stairwell leads to the staterooms on the lower deck.
Below, the master stateroom spans the yacht’s full beam amidships and features a full-beam his-and-hers ensuite with a stone-wrapped walk-in shower. A leatherette headboard in an Art Deco pattern flanked by large mirrors adorns the king-sized bed. A large VIP is situated furthest forward while two convertible twin ensuites are positioned to port and starboard. A stacked washer/dryer in the companionway conveniently services the guest accommodations.

Styled with Art Deco touches, the full-beam master suite is positioned amidships on the lower deck.
The new E90 has been designed with crew in mind, and considerably spacious crew quarters encompass the yacht’s aft section on the lower deck. The captain and up to three additional crew members are accommodated in a double and bunk cabins with a large shared en suite. The crew mess and workstation are situated in the stern, where steps lead up to the transom door and onto the aforementioned swim platform.

On the uppermost deck, the enclosed wheelhouse features the console with two fixed helm chairs, a starboard-side dinette and a dayhead to port. Aft, the boat deck is a truly enviable space for relaxation and entertainment. Protected forward by the yacht’s overhang and aft by sun awnings, this area features a large Jacuzzi tub and multiple seating and lounging areas as well as a refrigerator/freezer and a wet bar.

Learn More about the E90 Lazy Daze
Upon taking delivery of their new Horizon E90 in the late Spring of 2022, the owners and their Captain set out for a maiden voyage to the Abacos, where Lazy Daze was christened at the Horizon Yacht USA’s Owners’ Rendezvous and her owners were welcomed into the ever-growing Horizon family.

A firm favorite cruising destination for many Horizon owners, the Bahamas' Abacos islands welcomed rendezvous guests in traditional Bahamian flair.
Back On ISLAND TIME
Nearly 100 guests, 15 sets of owners, and ten Horizon yachts gathered in The Abacos for the 9th Horizon Yachts Owners Rendezvous, May 20-22nd.
Getting back on “island time” was the theme of the 9th Horizon
Yachts Owner Rendezvous, which kicked off with a bang this year in the Bahamas’ Abaco Islands from May 20-22nd and gathered Horizon yacht owners, families, and friends together with the Horizon Yacht USA (HY USA) team for the return of this highly anticipated event. A favorite cruising area for many Horizon yachts and owners, the Abaco islands were the obvious destination for the three-day event, which drew ten Horizon yachts, 15 sets of Horizon yacht owners, and nearly 100 owners and guests to the island. In 2019, the Abacos were devastated by the Category 5 Hurricane Dorian, after which the COVID-19 pandemic hindered the recovery and rebuilding process, so the timing was right for the Horizon family to show its support of the resilient locals and these beautiful cruising grounds.

After the welcome swag bags were distributed, it was time for a bubbly toast on the docks! Horizon yachts representing multiple build series and ranging in size from an E70 to an FD110 arrived at the Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour Marina where they greeted friends old and new and settled in. Among the many gestures of support from the HY USA team and owners, the yachts arrived with truckloads of pet food and supplies that were generously donated to the Abaco Shelter – the only pet shelter on the island. Many of the owners’ furry family members barked out their approval across the docks.

The Beach Party followed the christening of the new E90 Lazy Daze. The first day of the rendezvous opened with mimosas and brunch at the resort’s Below Deck Terrace, where Horizon Yacht USA Director Roger Sowerbutts gave a welcome speech and guests retrieved their rendezvous gift bags, filled to the brim with local goodies and items to use throughout the weekend’s festivities. After brunch, the group headed to the docks for the christening ceremony of the brand new E90, Lazy Daze. This was the first Horizon build for the experienced owners, who were attracted to the model’s exterior styling and plentiful amenities, and they made fast friends with other Horizon owners after the champagne toast! Read the full feature on the E90 Lazy Daze on page 32.
The afternoon drew everyone to the Beach Party at the resort for a Bahamian classic Goombay Smash and beachside fresh conch salad. Guests swam, lounged on the beach and enjoyed beach golf and games while catching up and sharing their cruising stories.

The first night culminated in dinner and dancing at the resort's Below Deck Terrace.
The six-piece band “Suppa Time” set the festive tone for the cocktail hour and dinner at the Below Deck Terrace, where guests dined on baked lobster tail, fresh fish piccata and New York strip carving before hitting the dance floor. In what became an evening tradition, the first FD87, Skyline hosted an after-party with line dancing under the disco lights on the aft deck.
On Day Two of the rendezvous, attendees met at the ferry dock for coffee before heading to the remote outpost of Elbow Cay to hop on golf carts and explore the picturesque streets and pastel-colored homes of Hope Town. After exploring the restaurants, art galleries and boutiques, everyone met at Tahiti Beach to partake in a refreshing afternoon cocktail and take in the view. This tropical paradise was the perfect setting to wade in the crystal-clear water and order a whimsical drink, like the Almond Joy Colada or the Green Banana, from the famous Thirsty Cuda floating cocktail bar.

Back at the resort, it was time for a relaxing evening at the resort’s Garden Pool with conch bites and a pasta station—and a little friendly competition while racing remote-control jet skis in the pool! HY USA made sure to not forget the crew this evening, and all crew members were invited to mingle on the dock at the Horizon tent with hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and plenty of comradery.

Guests enjoyed a variety of excursions on Day Three. Day Three was a day for excursions and guests set out early for the activity of their choosing. Some ventured to see the famous swimming pigs at No Name Cay and partook in more fresh dockside conch salad while feeding the pigs. A few adorable piglets made for snuggly photo ops, and the lunch and band at Big O’s were a hit, especially with Aqua Life’s group who played musical chairs with the band. Many of the guests enjoyed an impromptu cruise aboard Skyline for lunch at the famous Nipper’s Beach Bar & Grill on Great Guana Cay and a few others elected to join longtime Abaco resident and artist Anthony “Big Mo” Morely for an intimate sip and paint experience at the resort.
After a fun-filled day, guests returned to the resort to freshen up and gather for the Farewell Bahamian Bash on the beach; the group reminisced about the weekend and reveled in one last evening together. By the light of the fire pit, guest and crew danced to the “Suppa Time” band, and the evening commenced with an exciting Junkanoo performance, with all attendees joining in on the fun!
