Ross Ainslie and Patsy Reid reunite with fellow top Scottish musicians for a rerun of Made in Perthshire, showcasing their stellar musicianship through traditional and contemporary pieces. International piano sensation, Alasdair Beatson teams up with the Doric String Quartet, and the Fair City’s own award-winning comedian, Bruce Fummey, charts The Rise of the Ginger in his History of Scotland Part 3. From Blairgowrie to Birnam, rural communities across Perthshire host Perth Theatre and Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake tour of And Then Come the Nightjars. A vet and a cattle farmer’s blossoming friendship is put to the test when they face the chaos of Foot and Mouth in this, by turns heart-breaking and hilarious, requiem to rural life. We continue our popular music series including Celtic Sessions with Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Mànran and Elephant Sessions. Perth Piano Sundays welcomes the world’s finest players and Lunchtime Concerts present an exciting mix of new and established musicians. Perth Symphony Orchestra presents an entertaining evening of classical works by Russian composers. Opening with Alexander Borodin’s In The Steppes of Central Asia written to mark the silver anniversary of the reign of Alexander II of Russia, the concert continues with excerpts from Prokofiev’s three orchestral suites from his ballet based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. It concludes with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1, Winter Dreams one of the most important markers in the development of 19th century symphonic writing.
Two rarely heard masterpieces: Saint-Saëns Requiem and Gounod’s Messe solennelle de Sainte Cecile are performed in the wonderful setting of St John’s Kirk. They sandwich the ever popular organ Toccata by Widor with full choral accompaniment.

Each orchestra will perform a blend of well-known standards together with rarely heard gems directly linked with, or inspired by the Americas. During its spring concert at Perth Concert Hall, NYOS Symphony Orchestra performs an array of exhilarating and horizon broadening Americas themed compositions under the baton of conductor Tecwyn Evans. Tecwyn is a friend of, and long-term collaborator with The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland and we are delighted to welcome him back to work with our flagship Symphony Orchestra.
The choir gives boys aged 10-16, with unchanged and changed voices, a unique opportunity to sing together to the highest standard. Continually going from strength to strength, NYCoS National Boys Choir performs all across the UK, from the Edinburgh International Festival to BBC Proms in the Park. After searching the land, the most talented young male singers from across Scotland were chosen to form this year’s ensemble. The boys take part in an intensive six-day residential course where they receive vocal coaching and musicianship training from highly qualified music staff. The wide-ranging concert repertoire is learned and rehearsed extensively in search of the perfect tone quality and musical character that makes this choir’s performance so thrilling to hear live.
The Orchestra will also be joined by violinist Chloë Hanslip. Chloë has already established herself as an artist of distinction on the international stage. Prodigiously talented, she made her BBC Proms debut in 2002 and her US concerto debut in 2003, and has performed at major venues all over the world.

But when Foot and Mouth sweeps through the British countryside, communities are thrown into chaos. Michael watches, in grief stricken disbelief, the shooting of his beloved cows. He also watches his friend brandish the gun.

We want you to treat our theatre as a home from home, and to join us in building a space for Perth. So, as we develop ideas, we’d love to talk to you - the audience. Over the past couple of months, I have been meeting people, schools and organizations across Perth and Kinross, asking you about what you want from the theatre and how we can support and magnify what you are interested in.
We will also be collaborating with local people across Perthshire on the creation of two new shows – by award-winning theatre-makers Greg Sinclair and Kieran Hurley - to be performed in the newly reopened theatre.
From early next year, we will be presenting theatre IN YOUR SPACE across Perth and Kinross: in rural venues, in school halls, on classroom desks, in tents... We will be bringing you some of the best existing work from across the UK, and new work by some of Scotland’s most innovative theatre companies: the award-winning And Then Come the Nightjars will be touring to rural venues (opposite); and the internationally successful Titus by Redbridge Arts will be performing in classrooms before it tours to the Lincoln Centre, New York, and the Kennedy Centre, Washington.
