The two sets of variations in the programme are perfect showcases for her brilliance. “as well as I know Hewitt’s playing, from Bach to Schumann, I am still surprised at just how expressively, and romantically, the great Canadian plays this music.” The Herald, 2010 “Listening to Angela Hewitt play Bach is like stepping back into a more elegant age... There are no stray details, awkward corners or unwise tempos in a Hewitt concert. The execution is as pristine as the conception.” The Times, 2010

It is a four part oratorio with the customary arias, recitatives, ensembles and choruses, each part beginning with a descriptive orchestral piece. The original poem has a striking passage about a man losing his way and eventually dying in a snowdrift. It’s not all doom and gloom though - thoughts of mortality lead to thoughts of resurrection and the final chorus looks forward confidently, in magnificent music, to the life to come in a hymn of praise. £12; concessions £10 (+50p booking fee)

Three times winner of Best Male Vocalist at the British Country Music Awards, singer songwriter Charlie Landsborough’s music ranges from inspirational to country, from ballad to anthem. He is as entertaining on stage as he is melodic. His own personal songwriting blends easy on the ear, folk, country, inspirational, ballads and blues with a strong and often personal lyric content, and this mixed with his ready wit and repartee is a winning formula.
