From acting and singing to playing and creating music, we have something for you. Our music and drama activities are designed to inspire creativity, fire the imagination and help you to explore new talent and skills. We are sure you will love the group you sign up to, but if you want to give it a try first, why not come along to a taster workshop to see what to expect.

PERTH YOUTH THEATRE We aim to stimulate, challenge and inspire young people to perform at their best and achieve their ambitions. Learn about all aspects of theatre including performance, sound, lights, direction and stage management from theatre professionals. Youth theatre sessions will link closely with the productions on our main stage and will focus on building upon theatre skills including acting, stage combat, physical theatre and production. HORSECROSS GLEE Improve your vocal skills and have fun doing so! We focus on popular chart songs - you can suggest songs and we will also help you create your own arrangements. Horsecross Glee Juniors (P1 – 3 and P4 – 7) and Horsecross Glee (S1 – 6) Both groups are open for all with no entrance audition and both will perform in a Creative Learning Showcase in June. Horsecross Glee-xtra (S4 – 6) A small group for those who want to focus on more complex harmonies and are thinking about pursuing singing/music as a career. Auditions take place the first Monday in October (Please note, you cannot be in both Glee and Glee-Xtra.)
GORDON DUNCAN EXPERIENCE (S2-6) The Gordon Duncan Experience is a Celtic big band for young people playing a mixture of Scottish traditional and jazz music. The group rehearses over eight weekends a year. All instruments are accepted from fiddles and pipes to saxophones and French horns. The band performs in Perth Concert Hall annually and also does smaller gigs at venues throughout Scotland. Auditions take place in September (short audition including some sight reading)

You will be invited to an Open Day in September so you can try the activities applied for before you commit. HORSECROSS CREATIVES (S4-6)
For young people in S4 – 6 who are keen to develop their music or script writing skills.
Horsecross Young Playwrights
Focusing on script writing for theatre, you will work with a playwright to develop your own writing style and scripts which will then be showcased in an end of year production.
Horsecross Young Composers
Perfect for those studying Higher or Advanced Higher music, you will work alongside professional composers to compose your own 3 – 5 minute piece which will be performed and recorded by professional musicians in June.
Creative Assistants (ages 16-21) Are you interested in gaining work experience as a Horsecross Creative Assistant?
