We’ve thought of everything when making the children’s environment as fun and familiar as possible. There are ski gardens and snow parks for outdoor fun, wellequipped nurseries, themed activities, and lunchtime naps for little ones who need a rest.

Safety first Our staff-to-child ratios are low so children get the attention they deserve, and we keep strict signing-in and out procedures. There’s free baby listening every evening in all of our chalet hotels and larger chalets too (see page 7).

Putting your children at ease When they’re with us, our professional team take the time to make your kids feel at home. We drop them off and collect them from ski school, and we’ll keep them in the routine they’re used to.

Learning to ski Our lessons are exclusive to Esprit and have 8 children maximum in every class (and 6 maximum in our Spritelet classes for 3-4 year olds). The instructors speak great English, and at the end of the week your kids get rewarded at our famous (and noisy!) medal ceremony.

From 17 weeks to 12 years old Throughout the season we provide childcare for children from 17 weeks and with skiing options for children aged 3 to 12 years. The range of ski lessons means that your children can learn with other children of the same skiing standard.

Baby and Toddler BAT Weeks We crave ski holidays like everyone else, so we’ve designed these weeks for new(ish) parents to make sure you don’t miss a ski season. You’ll get special offers for babies and toddlers from 17 weeks up, with activities to keep all ages entertained. The days are a mix of action-packed outdoor activities, indoor fun, and naps as necessary! It’s all led by our dynamic and fully qualified childcare team. Esprit FREE Baby Listening and Child Patrol Service Once you’ve settled your children in bed, our staff are on duty to listen out for them and get in touch if your child is restless. This service is for children aged 17 weeks and over in all our chalet hotels†, certain larger chalets (Romeo & Schatzi in La Rosière and Corniche in Tignes) and in Hotel Des Deux Domaines in Belle Plagne from 7.30-10.30pm.

Children’s Ski Classes Ski holidays are all about sharing your passion with your kids, and that starts with quality lessons. We work closely with local ski schools in every resort – our classes are exclusive to Esprit children, with guaranteed small numbers and English-speaking instructors. The classes are grouped by ability as well as age. We’ll talk about your child’s experience when you book, or you can do our online quiz at www.espritski.com/ whichclass to help you choose the most suitable Sprite class. We have strict ratios of children to instructors – we deliberately limit the number so everyone can get the right attention. It’s important to book ski lessons at the same time as your reservation, so you don’t miss out.

A seamless service In all resorts our ski class service includes: • Collection and drop off from your accommodation or meeting point. Transport provided if required. • Strict signing-in and out procedure. • An Esprit Snow Ranger accompanying the Spritelets and beginner classes.

Spritelets 3-4 year olds An introduction to skiing in the fun ski garden, 2 hours, 5 afternoons a week. An Esprit Snow Ranger stays with the group for added support while they tackle the magic carpet, master gentle snow ploughs and slide around cute obstacles. 1 instructor to 6 children. Spritelets need to be permanently out of nappies.

Sprite Intermediates 7-12 year olds Morning ski classes of 2-2½ hours for children who are starting to parallel ski and snow-plough on trickier red runs. We’ll do our best to get your kids skiing as well as they possibly can, but the class descriptions are a general guide - the progress of each group can depend on the resort terrain, local lifts and ability of all children. 1 instructor to 8 children.

Sprite Xtra Classes 6-12 year olds Morning and afternoon lessons with an instructor and a supervised lunch. There’s a choice of 2 instructor-led classes for improvers or intermediates offering 2 extra hours of afternoon skiing in some resorts. 1 instructor to 8 children.

The kids will also perform songs and minisketches, all linked to their week’s theme. It’s a snap-happy photo opportunity and a rewarding way to end the week.

Extra classes we can arrange Guided ski fun Informal, free-skiing session for confident skiers of improver level and above, led by an instructor.

Teenagers Dedicated teen classes are available in some of our resorts.

Snowboarding Lessons are available for 8-12 year olds (min. height 1.20m). 2-2½ hour afternoon sessions in the local class, not exclusive to Esprit customers.

Chalet Hotels If you’re a fan of the relaxed atmosphere of a chalet, but also enjoy the facilities of a hotel, we’ve got just the thing.

The best of both worlds All of our chalet hotels have bars, lounges and dining rooms for residents only, as well as family bedrooms and suites with separate sleeping areas – all with private bathrooms. There’s also a Parents Station with microwave, fridge, sterilizer, baby food and a kettle. We’ve thought of everything.

Childcare and safety The childcare is in-house apart from Le Savoie where it’s just next door, so you never have to go far. We run our Baby Listening and Child Patrol Services† here from 7.30-10.30pm every evening. Our staff monitor entrances and exits, and we’ll get in touch with you if a child is restless. Our chalet hotels Our chalet hotels are run by Esprit staff except the De Champoluc, which is run by the owner and his team who we work with very closely. We’re known for our friendly service and these chalet hotels are no different.

Tasty food for the week You won’t have to lift a finger in the kitchen for a whole week. You’ll have breakfast for 7 days, and full catering for 6 days. Breakfast includes a continental buffet and for 6 days you’ll also have a selection of cooked options. Afternoon tea includes home-baked cakes, tea and coffee. In all our chalet hotels you also get a savoury treat to accompany the sweet ones. High tea is at 5.30pm for all children up to 10 years old, and is a 2-course meal with crowd-pleasers like spaghetti bolognese and apple crumble. Parents with children from 8 years can choose for them to eat at the adult mealtime (supplement payable). We kick off dinner for adults at 7.30pm, starting with canapés and prosecco, before a full 3 courses accompanied by red, white and rosé wine. On our staff’s day off, it’s a chance to eat out in one of the resort’s local restaurants.

Full board in France The three French hotels are full board – giving you breakfast, lunch, after-skiing snacks, high tea for the kids* and adult dinner for 7 nights of the week. This includes dinner on arrival on Sunday, through to breakfast on departure day - which means you won’t be paying for a single meal all week. Breakfast includes continental favourites such as pastries, crêpes and charcuterie as well as hot traditional English breakfast options.

A snow-sure resort ‘where children are royalty’ The town’s motto means this is a resort where families come first. Expect child-friendly slopes, dedicated children’s ski areas, plus lots of family-friendly accommodation to choose from. The high altitude makes it very snow-sure, and the ski area stretches over to Italy so you can impress the kids with lunch in another country. Our Esprit chalets are grouped together in prime position right next to the slopes. Children are collected from the chalets in the morning and those in ski classes muster outside Les Grandes Alpes where their instructors can easily lead them to the appropriate slopes.

Les Landelières is a child-friendly chalet in a quiet area just below the village centre. It’s only 75m further down the piste from Le Braconnier, and a button lift outside connects straight up into the main ski area. You can also ski right back to the chalet. There are four chalet apartments here and they’re each run separately with their own chalet host and living/dining areas. A family favourite and one of the best ski areas in the world The Espace Killy is a regular name in the world’s top ten resorts. It’s completely snow-sure, with over 300km of pistes, plus easily the same again in off-piste. Our accommodation is at 2,100m in Tignes-le-Lac, which also has Les Marmottons – one of the best ‘Jardins de Neige’ for children in the French Alps, which we use for our Spritelet classes. The resort has a good choice of shops, bars and cafés, and the lift pass includes access to the resort pool. The other main Tignes centre, Val Claret, is easy to get to on the regular free shuttle service, which runs throughout the day and night.

It’s just 50m from the Snow Club in the Chalets Chamois & Aiglon building and opposite the Nursery in Chalet Iceberg, but one of the main highlights is that you’ll have exclusive use of the home cinema room and the sauna, on the same level as the Caribou. The owner lives in the chalet on the upper floor. Kids tend to gravitate towards the cinema room so don’t forget to bring their favourite DVDs. It’s excellent value here and the rooms are great for families – all with en suite bathrooms too.

There’s high altitude, and then there’s Val d’Isère. You’re virtually guaranteed the very best conditions from late November to early May. The kids will have to take their skis off before they dive into the soft play though, but you can go right up to the front door here, and the closest lift is just 200m away. It’s super comfortable, the childcare is in-house and it’s above the main resort so you can get straight on the slopes. The resort centre is an easy ski away and we put on a free minibus on our staff night off from 5pm to 10.30pm. There’s also a ski bus running until 7pm. The communal areas are spacious, and you can relax whilst the kids are in their day or evening clubs. There’s also a sauna and relaxation area. Belle Plagne has won French Tourism’s Family Plus accreditation, hammering home how perfect it is for families, so no wonder we have an established presence here. Belle Plagne is the highest of 10 villages in La Plagne, and in our opinion it’s by far the most attractive. The buildings are made of local wood and stone, plus there’s a pedestrianised centre with several bars, restaurants and crêperies. There’s such a huge amount of runs that it’s no surprise how great it is here for all abilities. Les Arcs also suits mixed ability groups as many of the runs have alternative routes, so you can take an easier or more challenging run that goes back to the same spot. For advanced skiers, the Aiguille Rouge 7km run to Villaroger involves a dramatic vertical drop of 2,000m. And for snowboarders, you’ll be in paradise with a fun-park and half-pipe. The Vanoise Express that links to La Plagne is a trip in itself – make sure to give it a go.

Guaranteed snow and buckets of sunshine Alpe d’Huez is the main resort in the Grandes Rousses ski area. There’s 250km of pisted skiing, almost endless off-piste powder, and guaranteed snow on the Sarenne Glacier. You can also go to Les 2 Alpes for a day which is included in the 6-day lift pass. It’s best known for the sunshine, an excellent snow record, the huge main snow bowl, and last but not least – the longest black run in the world. The nursery slopes in the Bergers area are a great place to learn and then progress onto different runs, all easily accessed by the ski lifts. It’s a great choice for family skiing.

Obergurgl is one of Austria’s most famous resorts, and is a place that families love. It’s an attractive Tyrolean village, very relaxed and intimate, plus there’s no through traffic in the centre. The snow record is fantastic – it’s not unusual for snow to stretch from November until May.
