We Presents Princess Of The Dark Waters This outfit was well constructed from a combination of newspaper, pages, black plastic bags, blue and turquoise gems with a few rhinestones. The bottom of the dress is made from newspaper beautifully into a flower then painted in black with a splash of white spray paint. The top of the dress has a combination of magazine pages and plastic bags with a splash of sliver dust. On the front of the dress there are five Royal Blue gems, one for each of our friends lost at sea in the unfortunate incident on February 7th, 2016. In the middle of every flower the dress lies a turquoise gem representative of many tears shed. The black flowers signifies the pain and mourning still felt today by everyone in the community.

FROM BIRTH TO GROWTH During this past years, I have seen the most significant changes in you, your walking, talking, running and interacting with other children. As those are tremendous mile stone that are rooted into your physical.
He has magic in his eyes! Do you see it? The possibilities just bubbling over. He thinks I can do anything and is just beginning to question if I will be around forever.
I am now witnessing the growth of your mind, body and heart, you are learning compassion and empathy, and you have learnt to give, receive, to be hurt and to just be you. From you I have gained a bit of patience, I have experienced family and I have evolved into a better
He makes me want to wear a cap, to sweep him away from any tough situation, to wrap him in my arms and keep him safe, every day. I blinked and he was born, I blinked and he could walk, I turned around to cook dinner and he was talking, I stopped for a minute to glance at nature and he was singing, I ran to the store and he was up and had graduated from preschool, I took a nap and now that I’m up, he’s in grade 2.
Thank God every day for having you in my life.
Of course, what I'm neglecting here, are the million hugs and the “I love you Mommy” especially with bribery. Each one of those etched into my soul and though they are fleeting, they are the most special because they mean he feels loved, he feels cared for and respected. I have tried and fail, no less to write how I feel about my prince and this is what I finally had to say. My sweet child, When you were born, I was so taken by your beauty, your dark hair and those chocolate color eyes, I couldn't bear to stop looking at you. I forced myself to let others hold you, until it was unbearable, I decided to ask back for you. (Touchy isn't it) While you have grown from a helpless infant into the independent little treasure you are now. I often held my breath, hoping I would know when to hold your hand and when to stand behind you with a little push. When I looked into your eyes I see possibilities. You truly believe anything can happen “and that is magic” the kind of magic I will bottle and do my best to sprinkle over you as you sleep each and every night. You can't put a price on that kind of faith in the word LOVE.

We look to meet others who will “make” us happy and we work very hard to achieve what we think will bring us happiness. But we seem to be on a lifelong quest to find something that is elusive and undefined. We say, “If only it were this way, I would be happy” or,”If only I had that, I would be contented.” In the meantime, we overlook all the little opportunities for happiness that come to us each day. Have you ever noticed that it is often the small comforts, the simple pleasures that soothe us the most and make us feel that all is right in the world? Maybe it's a favorite food, listening to a favorite song or an unexpected kindness that makes our day. In the moment that we experience the simplest pleasures, we are not thinking about our quest for happiness or worrying that we may never find it. We are simply enjoying the moment and feeling alive.

His Musical Journey Has Just Began! Soca Shaquille Frame began his musical journey at a very early age. As children, growing up in the village of Mt Rich, Soca Shaq would run away to go see his cousins performing live on the basket ball court whenever there was a show. Little did he know that this love for music would one day lead to his own career. Soca shaq along with a few friends all around the age of 12 began writing music for fun, until one day a local promoter noticed their talent and advised them to take it further. Being recognized made them feel "Big" and soon after that was the rise of a duo act called "Soca Shaq and Blazzer ". Together Soca Shaq and Blazzer recorded three songs which led to their own little shine in their community. A local show was kept and the young artists were the talk of the town for the whole week after that. The following year led to a split when Soca Shaq decided that music was more than just fun and started taking it on as a profession. He became a solo act in 2008 and has worked with numerous studios during this time. While trying to understand music on an extreme level, Soca Shaq fell in love with other genre of music mainly dancehall and now has a nice catalog of both songs and videos. Currently signed to ‘Nu Money Island Studio’ Soca Shaq is now an annual contender in the Nation's Soca Monarch. His Musical Journey has just begun !

STANDING UP TO BULLYING communication, many kids feel that the only way to avoid being abused is by suicide. Parents simply can't ignore bullying anymore, or write it off as childhood behavior that will go away with time. Parents need to teach their kids how to stand up to bullies - to prepare their kids with as many assertiveness skills as possible. This decreases the child's chances of becoming a target for bullies. Parents might avoid teaching their kids assertiveness skills, fearing that they might be preparing their kids to become over-aggressive. However, parents need to understand that there is a difference between showing aggression and showing assertiveness. Beyond this, parents need to understand that bullies are predatory. They never select assertive or equally strong kids to target; they select those who come across as weak or passive.
The old adage “kids will be kids may be a dangerous falsehood. One of the most heartbreaking lessons that any child has to learn is how to stand up to bullies. Dealing with bullies has always been an issue that students have had to face. Nowadays, parents are realizing that not taking childhood and teenaged bullying seriously can cost their kids more than a cool reputation. In some cases, modern-day bullying is costing children their lives!
Assertiveness skills teach kids to show personal pride. They allow kids to develop personal boundaries, regarding how they will be treated. These are lessons that are not only important to learn to navigate school, but these are skills that are crucial to navigate adult situations, such as the workplace, marriage, and parenting.
This is because bullies have been far more clever and pervasive about their tactics. In the past, a bully used to single out their target with name-calling and by physically attacking them. Bullies often acted alone. Today, bullies can gang up with others in order to torment their targets. They are able to do this with the use of the electronic devices that are so common. It's very common for bullies to use the internet and mobile telephones in order to verbally, socially and emotionally abuse their victims. In the past, if bullying became too much of an issue for a child, then the child could be removed from a school and make new friends at another. Today, since bullying usually takes place on worldwide forms of
18
their kids that there are times when the child should say "No!" and the child should say it like they mean it. Parents can teach their kids a variety of assertiveness skills that allow their kids to behave mannerly, while sending a message to other kids that they are not to be messed with or targeted for bullying.
One of the most important yet easy assertiveness skills that a parent can teach their kids is to hold their head up straight and look others in the eyes. Bullies like to target those who appear to have low self-esteem. When a kid looks people in the eyes, they send a non-verbal message that they aren't afraid of others. When they hold their head up high, they send a message that they respect themselves.
As you can see it is important to educate you child to know how to stand up to bullies. By making them aware of what they can do and how they react will definitely prepare them to be able to take a stand.
However, there are kids who have healthy self-esteems and yet find that they become targeted for bullying. What can a parent do to teach seemingly healthy kids assertiveness skills to overcome bullying based upon jealousy? Parents need to have lots of talks with their kids, to help them understand that this type of bullying is rooted in jealousy and has nothing to do with the child personally. Beyond this, parents need to reach out to school authorities and to the parents of the bully, to work together to address the root issues that are causing bullying Another set of assertiveness skills to help children stand up to bullies is verbal communication skills. Parents need to teach children to speak in a tone of voice that is even, yet strong. Parents also need to teach

DENISE ANDREW AKA: WINNIE
DENISE KRISTAL ANDREW I want to give special recogni on to Miss Carita Mindy Francis for giving me the opportunity to be part of her show. To my sponsor, Miss Diane Lambert, a very hear elt thank you, also to my mother Ruby Andrew who supported me to the end, thanks for that. I was blessed through it all. I would also like to thank Delvon Williams, Cordelia Calliste, Shacki Wells and everyone else that believed in me and mo vated me every step of the way, thank you so much. To the rest of my family, friends and supporters thank you all.
Who am I? I am 20 years old determined and selfmo vated Denise Kristal Andrew, from the most fascina ng village of River Sallee St. Patrick, in the beau ful island Grenada. A past student of the River Sallee Government and St. Joseph Convent Grenville {S.J.C} and Presently I'm at the New Life Organiza on {N.E.W.O} studying in the field of Garment Construc on and Cosmetology. Growing up as a young lady I've always wanted to be part of the fashion industry, but being a shy and quiet individual has always kept me from pursuing my passion. Having that huge passion for modeling and fashion I knew that I had to overcome my fears, so a er being asked to th represent my village on the 27 of March 2016 in the second annual ‘Believers in Beauty Fashion Show’ with five other lovely contestants I threw all reserva ons in the wind and gladly accepted the invita on to represent my village. On that night, I captured the judges hearts and won best Introduc on, best sportswear and was crowned ‘Miss Believers in Beauty 2016’. It is a night I like to recall, when I officially became a queen. There were tremendous obstacles encountered in prepara on for that night, but I was able overcome all of those obstacles and I turned out on top. Winning was the most memorable experience of my life, I am so proud of myself and I will treasure these memories forever. I am much honored to hold this tle.
So for any young woman who wants to pursue a dream I say go for it. I say do it! The experiences you may encounter would do nothing but help to be er you personally and give you confidence on a whole other level. I would like to say what you gain from your experience, no one can ever take that away from you. My goal from here on is to con nue on that journey because the road has not yet ended, in fact it has just began. I also want to encourage all young persons to always have selfconfidence, be yourself and you can be successful in any thing you do. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” No ma er what your dream is, aim for it and do your best.

KEMON HERRY THE ATHLETE
My name is Kemon Herry. I am a well rounded individual-athle cally and academically. My athle c career began in the year 2009, when I won my first individual tle at the intercol games at 800m. Before 2009 it was very difficult for the greatness of my talent to be recognized in the athle c arena, because of the many defeats launched by other athletes. During my school years, there were many challenges that affected my ability to perform in academics and sports. Despite the challenges faced, I was s ll focus, understanding that there was a need for me to dream big. For me, dwelling on the challenges were nothing be er than moving along with the opportuni es. With this brilliant thought, I was able to secure the posi on of a Na onal Grenadian athlete for a number of years.
Jamaica among other top teams, se ng a new na onal record of 3 minutes 04 seconds. The display of my athle c talent s ll con nued when I was set on to represent Grenada at the O.E.C.S championship in St. Ki s and the Falcon games in Trinidad, respec vely in 2014. I was recognized as the O.E.C.S 800m champion achieving a personal best me of 1 minute 51.03 seconds, a er a hard challenge from the two St. Ki an athletes. I must have created history at Mac Donald College, where I presently rip the benefits from the relentless efforts of my coach, Mr. Neville Glean. I am the athlete who holds on to the most of 800m tle-I have been winning 800m in Grenada since 2009 up to 2015 without any defeat. It simply means that I've been 800m winner for 7 years and I’m looking to move beyond that number. Being focus will act as a main achiever towards our philosophy of life-towards our dreams and aspira ons. I can remember very well when I was first selected to represent Grenada at the Windward Islands school games in 2010, a year a er my career began. It seemed imaginary! But it didn't end there. A er a period of months, I went on to join the bigger guns in the USA, namely Kirani James, Rondel Bartholomew, Joel Redhead and Kevin Bowen. Our mission was to compete in the 4 by 400 relay, where we placed third (3rd) behind the USA and the Bahamas, and defea ng
From day to day, I am always though ul of the persons who saw the talent in me, the fans who keep me tall and the dear friends, rela ves and coach who plays a vital role in my achievements. However, I will love to advise every young man and woman to dream and believe. Take a moment to do serious introspec on which will help you to take the steps of value. Allow your life to be seen as a great metamorphosis with extremely high values.

such as cancer, arthri s, arteriosclerosis among others. These ailments create a constant feature of the persons who don't engage themselves in physical ac vi es.
Recent studies have shown that exercise is a vital part of our lives. Weight management isn't the only result of physical ac vi es. Exercise goes far beyond just that. According to research, physical ac vi es can help reduce many ailments that may affect the normal func oning of our bodies, and contribute to our general life quality. Physical ac vi es s fle the risk of stroke and heart disease making the muscle of the heart much stronger, decreasing the pressure of blood, and increasing the high-density lipoprotein (good cholesterol). It lowers low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol). Because of these func ons, there will be an improved blood flow and a convincing increase in the heart's working capacity. It has been proven through the tes monies of elderly persons, that physical ac vi es helps prevent back pain, by strengthening the muscle and bones of the human boy.
Exercise when complimented with proper ea ng habits and adequate period of rest, improves brain capacity. This means that the persons who exercise will hold a much more sharpened meaning than a non-exerciser. In conclusion, physical fitness is your ability to carry out tasks without undue fa gue, so hopefully now it is important to involve physical ac vi es in our daily life and that we need to make the me for it. My take is that we should at least be ge ng 1 hour a day of physical ac vi es.
Research again has shown the persons who maintains the healthiest lifestyles are mainly athletes. It was proven that most persons who did athle cs, achieve a life span of 70 years and up, while non-athletes, hardly exceeds 60 years and over. Apart from the above men oned benefits of physical fitness, it helps prevents other disease

MS. JEREL LANGAIGNE met with Mr. Jonathon B. Tourtellot, Geotourism Editor for the famed Na onal Geographic. He later featured her in his ar cle on his trip to the island of Grenada en tled “The places we love Grenada on the Cusp”
The birth of a new Caribbean fashion era is now making waves throughout the region that we all call home. With it, new vivacious, crea ve and mul -talented geniuses are being born into the fashion industry. We are now seeing a revival of interests in the art form that seemed to be dwindling in the Caribbean as the new millennium came forth, and mass market garments became more readily available and also the purchasing of them, more affordable. Today, persons are now rising up all over our region, proving to the world that we also possess the same innova ve and crea ve abili es as countries that are called 'more developed'. It is a joy to say that Grenada is no excep on, as we are also being well represented on the fashion scene with our very own fully qualified fashion designer, Ms.Jerel Langaigne of the brand “Modesty Fashions,” Grenada.
Since the exhibi on, she has represented us well at the Grenada Chocolate Fes val, founded by Ambassador for Mexico to Grenada, Mrs. Magdalena Fielden of True Blue Bay Resort. Ms. Langaigne has also returned to the classroom, now a lecturer for Fashion and Design at the T.A Marryshow Community college, where she trains and enjoys crea ng more new, young fashion designers. In the classroom, the students learn about the fashion industry on an interna onal level. Training is quite hands on, and the schedule is o en very concise, but the students understand that the fashion industry interna onally, requires hard work and commitment to make it such a success.
Ms. Langaigne graduated from the Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design at the University of Trinidad and Tobago in 2014 and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion and Design. On her return to Grenada, she par cipated in an exhibi on which promoted Grenada as a Geotourism des na on, where she
