WORDS WORTH REPEATING

We’ve finally made it to spring, and I know I say this every year, but the wait felt long! I’m so thrilled to see all the beautiful blooms as our gardens come back to life. And while the focus in spring tends to shift to our outdoor spaces, this season is also a time for cleaning and spiffing up the inside of our homes, too.

There’s a quote by Deepak Chopra that says, “All great changes are preceded by chaos.” And right now, this holds true for me in the form of my home remodeling projects. Chaos may even be an understatement. Over the last few months, I’ve coexisted with ripped-up flooring, samples strewn about the house and my possessions all in disarray. In the end, I know the inconveniences will be worth it, and I’m grateful to have many local experts helping me through the process.

In this issue, our Home & Garden section shines a light on our favorite local experts and businesses. Some of them have provided tips, advice and insight to help you with your home and garden projects.

The warmer weather also means it’s camping season! We’ve featured a few of the lakeshore’s best campgrounds and the things you can see and do nearby. Page 30.

And calling all runners! You’ll want to turn to page 60 to find a list of races along the lakeshore this spring and summer. We also chatted with Josh Vork, manager of Gazelle Sports in Holland, to get his advice on preparing for the big race. Page 58.

The Book Cellar

The Book Cellar is located in Grand Haven’s historic Center Town. With thousands of consignment books, comic books, rare books and new releases, The Book Cellar is a go-to bookstore for special orders around the world and has quickly become the People’s Choice and Neighborhood Favorite bookstore. The main reason for the booming popularity would be the amazing

selection and the two massive Bernese mountain dogs, Tank and Brady, that are in the store daily. Owners Amy and Mike O’Brien shared some summer book recommendations.

Joshua Duffy is a professional bodyguard and he’s one of the world’s elite operatives. That is, he was until his last mission in Lebanon. Against all odds, Josh got his primary out alive, but the cost was high. Josh lost his lower left leg. There’s not much call for an elite bodyguard with such an injury. So, Josh has to support his family working as a mall cop in New Jersey. A lucky run-in with an old friend promises to get Josh back in the field for one last job. The UN is sending a peace mission into the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico, an area so dangerous it’s known as the Devil’s Spine. Only a fool would think they could broker peace between the homicidal drug cartels in the region, and only a madman would sign on to keep those fools alive. But Josh does and the ensuing adventure is nonstop madness and mayhem! Taking a break from the Gray Man series, Greaney shows he is not a one-hit wonder.

Re-energize your home: Tips from the experts

After the spring cleaning is complete, you might find yourself in need of a home refresh. Whether you invigorate your oasis with décor elements or decide a remodel is in order, we chatted with local home experts to help with all your needs.

Q. What home trends are popular right now?

A. Clean lines, simple details, natural wood textures, natural stone, increased implementation of lighting with cabinetry, large workstation sinks, zone refrigeration (beverage refrigerators, wine refrigerators, freezer drawers), mixed materials (wood, metal, stone, tile), small appliance storage/workstation cabinets.

—Laurah Boogaard, Kitchen West Design Studio, Douglas

A. After spending a lot more time in our homes the past two years, the top interiors design trends are focused on making homes warm, welcoming and cozy. In addition, dual-purpose rooms have become important to homeowners. Hardwood and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) are still strong for floor coverings. Mid- to dark-

brown floors with oversize planks are trending right now. Brown flooring adds comforting, visual warmth and it forever will be a classic. Custom-sized area rugs are a popular choice to use in conjunction with hardwood and LVP. Carpet is still the No. 1 choice for bedrooms.

Back-to-nature color palettes and florals are on trend with fabric and wallpaper. Texture plays a key role in how cozy a space feels, so expect to see lots of plush textiles. Green is the new everything. From sage to emerald to hunter green — greens are the it accent color. Earthy colors of chocolate browns, camels and caramels are being used for leather furniture and upholstery. Soft, curvy furniture has replaced the straight lines of recent years. The use of pleated draperies continues to gain in popularity. Cellular, roller and roman shades are the perfect choice for your window treatments. They can add a refined style to a room as well as being energy efficient.

Quartz is the leading material for countertops. White and cream with subtle patterns and movement are the most popular choices. White continues to lead as the top choice for kitchen cabinets, backsplashes and walls. Classic subway tile and modern hexagons remain top picks for backsplashes. Green with natural wood elements, such as oak and walnut, are also being used for cabinetry.

Many homeowners are working toward upgrading their homes to include smart home automation. Technology designed to make their homes smarter, safer and more convenient continue to trend. Adding a power operating system to blinds and shades is one of the smart options available for homeowners.

—Wendy Arens, DeWaard Interiors, Holland

Q. What carpet trends are you seeing right now?

A. It’s exciting to see carpet making a statement in a home! We are seeing geometric, plaid, and abstract watercolor-like patterns being used in rooms and stairs. We are seeing bold choices in color and people choosing light neutrals to add visual texture to a room. We are also seeing an interest in natural fibers like wool, which add a level of coziness and texture to a space. Carpet has an ability to add dimension and warmth to a room by being installed wall to wall or being bound into rugs to go over a hard surface floor.

Q. What is the difference between granite and quartz? How do I choose which is best for my home?

A. Granite is a natural stone, mined from the earth, taken straight from the mountain, no piece is exactly like the next. Quartz is a manufactured product that has many colors available. Both options are extremely durable — heat, stain and scratch resistant.

Daily care will look similar for each material if you choose one of these. You will want to use nothing abrasive to clean, and make sure to use

cutting boards, even though they are hard to scratch, they can still dull your knives. And both, while heat resistant, still recommend the use of a trivet to protect from pots and pans straight from the oven or stove.

The main difference of care would be that granite requires a sealer. Sealers have come a long way, though. We have penetrating sealers that, depending on the material and wear/tear, can last for up to 20 years. Whereas in the past, you used to need to seal every six months to a year, that is no longer the case.

When deciding between the two, I typically determine this based off the style you are hoping to accomplish. For example, if you are looking for a piece of art to show off on your island, there are some beautiful natural stones that will accomplish just this. Or if you are looking for a solid color to keep your kitchen minimalistic and clean and simple, quartz is an excellent product to use in this type of design. Or, maybe you just like something that no one else has — granite would be a great option to go with. Whichever you choose, you can’t go wrong. Both are excellent choices and will be sturdy enough to last through the years.

Q. What are some of the current kitchen design trends? Colors, features, must-haves?

A. White kitchens are and will still be a very classic choice of finishes, but colorful cabinetry will be popular. Black accents in fixtures and appliances add a touch of boldness to this design. Clients want less clutter in their kitchens, so you will see less and less wall cabinets in the design. Instead, there will be customized storage in other places throughout the kitchen.

Kitchens will not look like typical kitchens but extensions of the other living spaces in the home. Multiple islands will be used when the space allows, and upscale details can be added. Oak cabinetry is making a comeback in lighter, more neutral colors and with its subtle elegance. These kitchen designs will be paired with pattern floors and statement backsplashes.

Garden tips from the experts

It’s gardening season once again!

Gather your garden gloves, trowels and shovels and head outdoors to beautify your outdoor space. Whether you’re planning a vegetable garden or adding plants and flowers to your landscaping, gardening is a fun way to personalize your home while breathing in that sweet, fresh air. We chatted with local garden experts to help with your gardening needs this season.

Spring gardening checklist from Dirk Jonker, owner, Jonker’s Garden

897 Lincoln Ave., Holland 616-392-7234

jonkersgarden.com

Plant perennials

Perennials should be in good supply at the nurseries now that spring has sprung. Once the last day of frost has passed, plant summer and fall flowering perennials such as rudbeckia, Japanese anemone, daylilies, hostas, coneflower, astilbe and yarrow. If these plants have been purchased from a garden center that has hardened them off outdoors, most can be planted even before the last frost.

Plant cool season vegetables

Cool season vegetables include lettuces, spinach, kale, radishes, peas, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, leeks, chard and kohlrabi. This is also a good time to plant onion sets, seedling potatoes and asparagus crowns.

Plant summer vegetables after the last frost

These include beans, corn, cucumber, eggplant, melons, okra, peppers, pumpkins, squash, sunflowers and tomatoes.

Plant fruit trees

But first, find out if your selection needs a pollinator or is self-fruitful and is appropriate for your USDA zone. Make sure there is sufficient space for your selection and that the site receives six to eight hours of full sun.

Plant spring bulbs

These include dahlias, gladiolas, cannas and ranunculus.

Move succulents outside

Succulents that have been overwintered can be moved outdoors after the last frost. Be careful not to move them into full sun until they are acclimated. Protect from too much moisture if rains are heavy in your area.

Plant azaleas and rhododendrons

Plant these now, while in flower, because as soon as they stop flowering, they start growing. Also plant about an inch higher than the surrounding soil so that the top of the root ball sticks out of the ground to allow for settling over time.

Pruning and spring-cleaning checklist

• Prune rhododendrons immediately after flowering. Snap off old, dried flower clusters on rhodies, but remove carefully so that developing buds beneath the trusses are not damaged because they provide next year’s blooms.

• To eliminate sources of overwintering disease and insects, clear and dispose of old leaves and flowers from flower beds.

• As frost-damaged plants begin to grow, prune and remove the damaged portions of the plant.

• Hibiscus and other tropical plants that have been overwintered inside can be pruned, fertilized and put outdoors after the last frost.

• Wait until bulb plant leaves turn yellow before cutting them off. This allows the energy and nutrients to return to the bulbs for next year’s flowering.

Q&A with Robin Baker, owner, Robin’s Flower Gardens

6032 144th Ave., Holland

616-856-4996

facebook.com/robinsflowergardens

Q. How do you choose which flowers to offer at your garden center?

A. I trial new and different flowers by my home every year to see how it performs in the landscape, how much water it requires and what the ideal sun or shade formula is. Nothing can guarantee customers’ success with flowers better than my own hands-on experience. I can determine whether it’s a perfect flower for someone who wants a low maintenance, easy beginner flower or whether it requires more attention and would be better suited for the advanced grower.

Q. How can customers ensure they’re choosing the right flowers?

A. One of the tips I give customers when picking out flowers is simple — trust the advice of your garden center experts! I’ve seen it far too many times where the customer doesn’t take their advice and falls in love with the bright, beautiful blooms on a flat, basket or planter — only to end up in the end unsuccessful and feeling defeated.

Every customer can have a green thumb, I promise! I always ask the customer about their planting area; how large is it, what direction is it facing, is there irrigation and most importantly how much time do they want to give to their plants or flowers in this area weekly?

I also ask the customers about their past experience of the area. Have they had experience with flowers in that area prior and if so, what were the flowers and how did they perform?

Once the garden center expert has some of those questions answered, they can make recommendations that will guarantee a customer’s success! We want the customer to succeed, because a happy customer is a repeat customer!

Q. What are some of your favorite flowers?

A. My personal favorite annual flower is the SunPatien! They will flower beautiful, colorful, consistent blooms all season until frost. SunPatiens can be planted in the hot sun or on the north side of your home where there’s very little sun and they will still out-wow the neighbors’ flowers every time — I guarantee it! They do not need to be dead headed! They take a fair amount of water, but minimal to no fertilizer at all! They come in a rainbow of colors and once you try them, you’ll probably never try anything else. For minimal cost, they are my No. 1 recommendation and will make anyone love the outside of their home. Sound too good to be true? Stop in Robin’s Flower Gardens and give them a try!

My second favorite would have to be the Macho Fern! Another easy, anyone-can-grow choice! Much larger than a Boston Fern, this beauty will grow larger than most hanging baskets and you will feel horrible throwing it away at the end of the season. Yes, it’s all green, but don’t let that fool you. They require minimal water or attention! These super easy showstoppers are for anyone and everyone! They might not produce blooms, but they sure do produce a wow! Stop in, I locally grow hundreds of them!

YOU GOTTA TRY THIS!

The words “you gotta try this” never rang more true than when I tasted the food at American Char. My husband and I love barbecue and pizza, but for some reason, it hadn’t occurred to us to make a trip to the community of Drenthe to get our fix. We had been missing out and perhaps you have, too!

With the help of staff recommendations, we ordered the Char Sampler along with Brisket Tacos and a pizza for good measure. Everything — and I mean everything — was delicious. The sampler offered beef short ribs, wings, brisket, smoked pulled chicken and pulled pork. We tried the pickles, sweet coleslaw and macaroni and cheese, too. And for dessert, we ordered the Key Lime Pie, and I highly recommend it! Chef Len’s passion for barbecue is evident and he makes a mean pizza, too. Chatting with Chef Len and hearing about his love of food and friends is what we all love about supporting our local businesses.

The restaurant is set up for indoor and outdoor dining and the counter stays busy with take-out orders. The atmosphere is fun, easy-going and family friendly. I am already planning my next visit. My only advice is to come hungry and don’t wear white!

Tasty combinations

Galleria offers old-world Italian in artsy atmosphere

At the Galleria, they like to say “each order is a work of art.”

Maybe it’s because the bistro, located in Holland’s Washington Square, is connected to a working art gallery featuring more than a dozen artists. Guests can wander through the space with a glass of wine, soaking up creative inspiration with each and every step.

Or perhaps it’s because the chefs — Chef Sacha, Chef Sofia and Chef Israel — approach each plate with a dedication to detail. They strive for a beautiful presentation. They want customers to taste the quality.

Whatever the reason, like great artwork, Galleria sparks a response from its customers,

owner Pamela Ratti said. She wanted dining at Galleria to be far more than just a meal.

“‘Wow, what a cool experience!’” she said visitors often say after a meal at the bistro.

A business — reimagined

For a business that re-opened during the pandemic in 2020, Ratti couldn’t be happier about the results. She and her husband, Chef Sacha, completed major repairs to the building in late 2019 and early 2020. The space was previously occupied by Pereddies Restaurant.

“We decided not all of the components would be coming back,” she said.

They temporarily closed the kitchen

because so much of the building had to be updated. The reimagined space then began with the art gallery.

“For a long stretch, we had zero employees,” Ratti said. “Slowly but surely, we were able to open up parts of the business.”

Galleria has grown to 12 employees now. They added the bistro, cooking classes, art classes, a bar, catering and various event spaces.

“All the experiences are under the same roof,” Ratti said.

Culinary arts

While diversification is key to ensuring it survives, Galleria will maintain a strong focus on its bistro dining experience.

Ratti described the bistro as “old-world cuisine.” Its pizzas are among the signature items on the menu, with fresh, house-made Neapolitan dough as the base. Chef Israel studied the art of making Neapolitan pizzas in Napoli, Italy, and brought that expertise to Galleria. Popular pizzas among customers are the mushroom and gorgonzola pizza and the prosciutto pizza, Ratti said.

“They are delicious … to die for,” she said. The rest of the menu changes often, depending on the season, but there is usually seafood.

“The mussels are always a big hit with focaccia bread,” Ratti said.

Other common entrees include grilled salmon, fresh pasta and chicken parmesan. As far as appetizers, the charcuterie board features assorted cured meats, cheese, fruit, nuts and crackers.

Customers interested in wine will discover Galleria has a unique selection from small vineyards that are hard to find in the area, Ratti said.

No reservations are necessary at the bistro. Simply walk in and grab an available table.

“I don’t want to rush someone out of their table,” she said.

Thinking ahead, Galleria will keep expanding its offerings. The big question now is whether to offer lunch in the future.

“It’s really going to come down to demand,” Ratti said.

The Galleria bistro is open for dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. n

Dining with a view

Lake Bluff Grille brings new life to Muskegon Country Club

Located on a bluff overlooking Muskegon Lake, the fittingly named Lake Bluff Grille will soon serve patrons delicious food, refreshing drinks and to-die-for waterfront views. Set to open in May, the restaurant, located at the Muskegon Country Club, will be open not just to club members, but the public, too.

RedWater Restaurant Group purchased the Muskegon Country Club last year and has since been working to open a new public restaurant and renovate the existing event venue on the property. Lake Bluff Grille will be RedWater’s 10th restaurant.

“Muskegon Country Club is on a gorgeous piece of property,” said Leanne Stoll, marketing director at RedWater. “The club has a long, established history in the Muskegon community since its opening in 1908 as well as a great group of country club members. These are all important factors for RedWater when acquiring a new club.”

“With our footprint throughout West Michigan, based in Grand Rapids and kind of branching along the lakeshore, the country

club just tied in really well,” added Brian Behler, regional manager at RedWater. “The Muskegon Country Club has always been a very hidden gem in Michigan. And now putting that into our portfolio, it was truly a win-win.”

Lake Bluff Grille has a modern and contemporary interior design with an inviting and warm feel. Renovations included relocating the placement of the restaurant within the building to offer generous space for diners, building a large wrap-around bar at the center of the restaurant, adding a feature wine wall with wine locker storage for guests, and expanding and covering the deck for extended access to outdoor dining.

“The design is very approachable, and the service will be, too,” Behler said.

“The outdoor patio space will definitely be a huge win for not only the public coming in to dine but also our golf club members,” he added. “It’s a covered patio so you’re not out dining in the blaring sun. It’ll be covered and comfortable with huge views of the bluff. It will be a great place to enjoy cocktails and appetizers or full dinner service.”

The restaurant’s menu offers New

American style cuisine with a wide range of handcrafted appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. The menu also features a guest favorite at RedWater’s restaurants — entrees that are served on 500-degree fire rocks.

“The fire rocks add another fun element to your dining experience,” Stoll said. “Our chefs prepare the dish and start the cooking process then we bring it to you on the rock so you can finish cooking it to your liking. The rock keeps the food nice and hot, and the sizzle and smell make your mouth water!”

“The menu will showcase the best of the best foods from all of our RedWater Restaurants,” Behler added.

The bar will feature signature cocktails, draft and canned beer, and an expansive wine list.

Beyond the restaurant

In addition to debuting the new restaurant, RedWater Restaurant Group is also launching its upgraded Muskegon Country Club event venue.

The venue seats around 150 people indoors and has added space for weddings and other events on the new, covered deck. The deck will also serve as a space to host meetings and small events outside. A new reception courtyard area off the patio will provide even more outdoor space for events.

“We’re really putting a lot into that space with newer landscaping and fencing to make it feel very private but open to the beautiful views,” Behler said.

Another new element to the country club is the addition of LiveGolf Studios, a stateof-the-art indoor golf simulator facility. The simulators offer access to more than 100 golf

courses, various challenge games, multiple practice ranges and arcade games to provide fun for the whole family. Open in the fall and winter months, LiveGolf Studios will be open to the public and available as an add-on service for private events.

Stoll and Behler said community response to the new restaurant has been extremely positive. RedWater Restaurant Group is excited to open Lake Bluff Grille to the public very soon.

“The Muskegon Country Club has an amazing history as one of the first country clubs in Michigan and a lot of people traveled from Chicago to this country club in its early days,” Behler said. “And it’s so exciting for us to bring back an energy to this place. People in the community cannot wait to see the energy come back after so many years and they’re ready for the public to be welcomed back inside, too.” n

YOU GOTTA TRY THIS!

MODALES WINES

When looking for a halfway point between Holland and the Gun Lake area to meet our friends, my husband Todd and I suggested we try Modales Wines. The winery is located in the heart of Fennville’s American Viticulture Area. When we walked in, we were impressed with the modern vibe. Modales has a large bar specifically for wine tasting and then opens to a larger seating area with expansive windows that open to overlook the beautiful vineyards.

My friend, Cheryl and I choose a guided tasting consisting of five samples of their small-batch wines. Our journey started out by trying white wines. Our selections included a 2020 Dry Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sweet Riesling. Next, we moved on to the Red varieties and our selections included a Brut Red and the house favorite, a 2018 Lamastus Red Blend. As my favorite was the Brut Red, I chose to purchase a bottle to enjoy again at a later date night.

During our tasting we learned from the friendly, knowledgeable tasting room ambassador that Modales Wines opened

in July 2019. They currently grow 90% of the grapes needed for their annual yield. Modales offers a Sip & Cellar tour, too, which treats guests to a behind-the-scenes experience of the winery and more. There is also a wine club in which members receive complimentary tasting, bottle discounts and priority access to events.

From the day Modales opened its doors, many curious wine enthusiasts said that Michigan cannot create a standout, great red wine. Modales Wines’ goal was to change that perspective and make the nonbeliever into a believer. At the end of our experience, the delicious wines we savored made Cheryl and I believers and converted our spouses to wine connoisseurs, too!

ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO!

So, you want to start running? Maybe compete in a 5K? We talked with Josh Vork, manager of Gazelle Sports in Holland, to get some pointers. By the way, his favorite piece of running gear is not actually running gear but his Hypervolt massage gun. “I use it every day to loosen up tight muscles, warm muscles up before a run or a walk, or just to relieve tension,” Vork said.

Q. What’s your No. 1 tip for people who want to start running?

A. Get fitted for proper running shoes. Shoes will make or break your running experience, so you want to make sure you get something that will work specifically for your feet, not just something you like the looks of or that your best friend’s neighbor raves about.

Q. How do you find the perfect pair of running shoes?

A. Well, you’ve got to come to Gazelle Sports, of course! We will assess your gait and overall movement needs through watching you walk and asking questions, then bring a few options that could work for your foot type. We’ll help you try them on and use your real-time feedback to help you select the perfect pair.

Q. What tips do you have for someone preparing for a 5K?

A. Increase your mileage and pace slowly to let your body acclimate to the running — the No. 1 reason new runners get injured is because they’re doing too much, too quickly. With that in mind, you don’t need to run every day — three to four days per week is plenty. Also, don’t be afraid to take a walking break if you need it or use other activities like swimming or cycling to supplement your running.

Q. Tell me about Good Form Running clinics at Gazelle Sports.

A. As kids, we’re taught how to throw a baseball, shoot a basketball, kick a soccer ball, etc. But when it comes to running, we’re expected to just know how to do it. While most of us can figure out how to physically move our body in a running motion without any coaching, Good Form Running provides the tools and knowledge necessary to do it in a more safe and comfortable manner through teaching proper running mechanics. Ultimately, the goal is to make running easier for all who attend.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to add?

A. Unfortunately, for most of us growing up and playing team sports, running was used as a punishment, so we have a lot of residual negativity associated with it. It might take some time, but there are lots of people who have learned that running can actually be enjoyable, not merely a necessary evil. Our goal at Gazelle Sports is to help that enjoyment come as quickly as possible! n

Giving Back with Ready for School

About the organization

By building confianza, mutual trust, across the community, Ready for School prepares children for success in kindergarten by equipping parents and families through the integrated support of the Holland, Zeeland and Hamilton communities.

Meet Bill Badran, Senior Development Officer at Ready for School.

Q. What’s your role with the organization?

A. My job is to inspire through stories and build awareness on resources we provide — like access to year-round early learning through preschool scholarships, kindergarten readiness, early literacy and childcare solutions.

Q. What impact does Ready for School have on the community?

A. A community-adopted early literacy screen in 2008 showed that fewer than half of our community’s children were ready for school when they entered kindergarten at age 5. In response to this critical need, Ready for School was launched. The good news is that in 2019, 70% of our community’s children were ready, and the work continues.

Our impact is strengthened through partnerships across the community. Some examples of impact right now are Kindergarten Readiness Camp, in which applications are now being accepted. We have partnered with healthcare providers to enhance early literacy through our Reach Out and Read West Michigan program. We are piloting a Tri-Share Childcare program — a program where qualified employees pay one-third, the employer pays one-third and the state pays one-third of childcare cost. This will help employers stay competitive, retain talent and help their team members.

Q. Why does the organization and its goals matter?

A. Top three reasons why Ready for School matters:

1) Ready for School is closing the gap between potential and opportunity. How? Access. Education, community engagement and collaboration have been Ready for School’s blueprint since 2017.

With that we are working on a Tri-Share Childcare program.

2) Kindergarten Readiness Camp: The move from pre-K to kindergarten is one of the most important transitions a child will make. By having your child attend our camp, they’ll reach kindergarten more confident, inspired and ready.

3) Reach Out and Read West Michigan: Children that are read with more often have improved language and listening skills, experience stronger emotional connections to their loved ones and gain a lifelong love of reading.

Q. How can locals help or get involved?

A. Here are ways you can invest in Ready for School’s work: financial donation (for example, give a dollar amount for a couple of the levels you’ve already established), volunteer with us with kids and families in the summer, by spreading the word during community events and/or through joining committees looking at childcare solutions and strategy.

Q. What is your favorite part about being involved with Ready for School?

A. My favorite part about being involved with Ready for School is learning happens every day, everywhere. I see amazing value in early education. When I was an entrepreneur and a small business owner, one of our values was to bring on potential interns who were juniors or seniors in high school. This opportunity not only helps build experience but also guides these young individuals in their career path. Now that I’m involved with Ready for School. I’m pleased to be a part of a child’s kindergarten readiness path. Learning about the Kindergarten Readiness Camp was amazing. It’s amazing to know we have a camp that helps soon to be kindergartenage kids feel comfortable on their first day of kindergarten. Because of the camp, educators are telling me they see early leaders. This is just one of the many programs that benefit our children and why I love my career at Ready for School. n
