hat inspires us at House of Hackney? We always start with the natural world. For Spring/Summer 2015 we’ve been on a journey to explore the beauty that can be found in nature’s patterns. Inspired by the great Hollywood decorators, we have delved into the rich history of design that surrounded the golden age of decorating in the 1930s. Our prints embrace the mood for bold schemes and cool, airy spaces, juxtaposing bright colour with white. This season sees a print collection inspired by a variety of the most interesting leaf formations to bring the outdoors into our homes. ‘Tarovine’ features the bounteous cheese plant leaf handpainted and over scaled in proportion for a strikingly modern statement. ‘Pampas’ takes us to the South American tropics via its botanical ferns and grasses. ‘Castanea’, a breathtaking painterly print with the British horse chestnut leaf as its protagonist, completes the new verdant collections. A favourite of the great bygone decorators, the stripe takes center stage for Spring 2015. Contrasting the wider awning of the ‘London’ stripe and the bordered Georgian ‘Kennington’ stripe with the collection’s conversational prints makes for a fresh decorating perspective. The iconic ‘Palmeral’ print is also given a matching treatment for Spring/Summer 2015, uniting the spirit of Palm Springs with a classic British stripe for a unique and winning combination. PALMERAL The Palmeral print pays homage to Loddiges, one of the world’s largest palm houses based in Hackney during the Georgian period. A Mecca for tropical plants, it was the original inspiration for many of the species at Kew Gardens today. An Art Deco inspired patio print, Palmeral features an explosion of palm leaves reminiscent of 1930s Palm Springs. The print has been given a stripe treatment for Spring/Summer 2015 uniting the spirit of Hollywood with a classic British stripe for a chic combination.

HACKNEY EMPIRE Everyone has a favourite character in this at once breathtaking and humorous print. Anthropomorphized animals dressed up in finery are depicted in this iconic print. CHOOSING YOUR FABRIC Browse our full collection of furnishing fabrics online and choose from a selection of cotton linen, satin or velvet for your design. Alternatively, our experts are on hand to help you consider your options and offer advice on the best fabrics to use. Standard delivery time for curtain and blind orders is three weeks, subject to availability of the fabric. Please allow up to nine weeks if your chosen fabric is in print production.
CUSTOM FURNITURE All furniture is made-to-order and can be made to bespoke measurements. Customers can select any of our furniture shapes and have it made in a fabric of their choice. Furniture orders normally take six to eight weeks to deliver, subject to fabric availability. Please allow an additional six weeks if your chosen fabric is in print production.
