Hannah & Kevin
A Family Aff air
Planning their wedding in just two months, Hannah and Kevin chose to have a small and relaxed day, filled with emotional tributes from loved ones. Now Hannah tells us their beautiful story, made complete by unexpected sentiments.
“We got engaged in May 2021 and were married on 31 July 2021… A very short engagement to say the least! The engagement ring was my granny’s, and she’s one of the main reasons for our quick turnaround. We really wanted her and Kevin’s grandparents to see us get married, so we decided it was important to tie the knot sooner rather than later.
I fell in love with my boho dress quickly and immediately matched it with jewellery from the bridal collection of my brand, SilverStory. I loved wearing it for my special day. Topped off with a stunning flower crown, I felt like a bohemian princess!
We’d always wanted a smaller wedding with our closest friends and family, so had just 60 people, which was lovely. We were so lucky to have everyone we wanted there apart from our good friends abroad and some family who sadly couldn’t make it, but we live-streamed for them.
Our venue was Raemoir House; somewhere my family used to go on special occasions when I was younger. As nature lovers, we adored having the option of an outdoor wedding and luckily the weather was on our side. We had a beautiful flower arch with the sun streaming through as I walked down the aisle and said ‘I do’ with the beautiful backdrop of Scolty Hill.
After the ceremony and confetti, we enjoyed talking to everyone with canapes and fizz. It was a very relaxed vibe, perfect for catching up and having fun. There were lawn games, which gave our guests a laugh and Freddie (my family’s Australian labradoodle) entertained the little ones!
During the speeches we were surprised with video messages from our friends abroad then my dad had everyone in tears. He had sand sent over from our friends in Australia, bringing our favourite beach to us. He’s usually a bit of a lad and a joker but he was so emotional. It was really sweet and I’ll cherish it.
In the evening we had a ceilidh and stovies, which gave our English guests a taste of a Scotland. Everyone loved it! Later, we had sparklers around a firepit in the woods and Kevin surprised me with a giant light-up sign with our initials on it. We ended the night dancing with our friends and family, and didn’t want to leave!
Given the past two years, we’re so happy we managed to have a fun and ‘normal’ wedding with the people we care about the most. We even got a honeymoon to Madeira the week after, which was amazing!”
