Scott Ledingham and Aimee Bremner always loved rustic weddings and weren’t going to let the pandemic get in the way of their dream day. We caught up with beautiful bride Aimee to get the details…

“We met the typical way, on a night out back in 2015. Scott proposed four years later at the beautiful Pitfour Lake near where we live. We were married on 21 May 2021, which was two years from the day that Scott proposed. Our venue was the Knowes Hotel in Macduff, picked for its stunning views and beautiful surroundings. Planning the wedding was stressful in part because of the ever-changing restrictions but also because I’d just lost my mum unexpectedly. There were times we considered just going to the registry office instead but I’m so glad we stuck to our plans and had the best day!

Dress shopping was daunting as I couldn’t have my mum there but Melissa at Blush Bridal was amazing. I had no clue what I wanted but she suggested what would suit me and ’The One’ ended up being everything I could have imagined and more. I like a minimalistic look, and my dress was a beautiful fit and flare with a high neck and open back. I love the rustic look for weddings and had always wanted sage green bridesmaid dresses. These, and my own gown, massively influenced how we decorated the venue. Everything came together so well on the day. We had a Humanist ceremony, which was personal to us and our two children, Jack and Kaiya. All four of us drank from the quaich to symbolise officially coming together as one family. We’d planned to go out for some photos after the ceremony but the weather wasn’t playing ball. Instead, we got some lovely photos in the hotel then enjoyed some drinks and canapés with our guests before we sat down to our meal.

Due to the pandemic, we couldn’t have any live entertainment during dinner, so we had a playlist with our favourite songs as background music. The hotel was very accommodating, all things considered! Restrictions meant our first dance wasn’t as traditional as we’d have liked but we’re

so grateful just to have pictures of us up on the floor with the bridal party. We danced to a beautiful country song, In Case You Didn’t Know by Brett Young, which meant a lot to both of us. If the pandemic allows, we’ll have that traditional moment on the dancefloor with all our friends and family to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The highlight for the both of us was seeing our family and closest friends as most of them we hadn’t seen for ages, thanks to COVID-19! It was amazing to have them there with us to celebrate.
