Hotels: The benefits

First of all, they’ll have an on-site event or wedding manager – in other words a planning expert who’ll be right up to date with the hospitality restrictions and other regulations. They are there to help you have a stress-free dream day so ask all the questions you have – they’ll be expecting a list. And remember there’s no such thing as a silly question – especially mid and post-pandemic.

They already know all the hotel staff and can advise on local suppliers. Great for everything running smoothly – woohoo! You really are spoilt for choice with hotels in the northeast. They range from sophisticated city centre options to rural grand mansions with stunning views.

Top tips

Health and safety: Check out hotel websites for specific information if you have any worries about the current procedures. Meldrum House, for example, has teamed up with a sanitisation company to ensure ultimate cleanliness and brought in fogging machines so they can clean big spaces in minutes.

In general, though, cleaning has increased in bedrooms and public areas, and all staff will be wearing PPE – they want to make you feel safe. Booking: So many postponed weddings last year mean hotels are in high demand and a weekday wedding could be a real option for you. Potential cost-saving here, too!

Make your wedding day a day to remember at the Ban-Car Hotel

Every venue will be operating slightly differently, so don’t just turn up – get in touch and ask for all the info you need to book a visit. If you don’t feel comfortable going in person, or they won’t allow it, set up a virtual viewing. Many venues have video tours on their website and Maryculter House has gone a step further with exclusive virtual viewings. You can also swoon over the galleries on each hotel’s website, and any pictures they’re tagged in on social media from the comfort of your own sofa. Great for getting an idea of how other couples have set up their weddings in the same place – especially if the wedding is smaller than originally planned in a big space.

Before signing on the dotted line: Due to the ongoing uncertainty, make sure you discuss with your venue what will happen with your wedding if the restrictions drastically change again. Make sure you understand the payment schedules, cancellation policies and insurance information. Better to be safe than sorry, especially if you’ve already lost out due to a cancelled date. ♥
