The northeast’s top hairstylists, make-up artists and health and beauty specialists will all tell you that the wedding beautifying process begins long before the morning of your big day. Here’s all you need to know to get your hair, skin, teeth and body wedding-ready…
Prepping your locks
The closer your wedding day looms, the more care you need to be taking of your hair. Putting down the straighteners and curling irons may be one of the hardest things to do but giving your hair a break from the heat is one of the best things you can do. Could you try out some heatless styles instead? If turning down the heat results in you tying your hair up, make sure to ditch the elastic-style bands that can tug and pull. Try switching to satin or silk scrunchies, which will be gentler on your hair. Talking of those sumptuous materials, swapping to a silk or satin pillowcase can help minimise breakage whilst you sleep. Breakage happens when hair is wet, too – invest in a microfibre towel to help reduce this. Finally, your hair can get dry and depleted between wash days so keep it nourished by oiling your lengths between washes.

Prepping your skin
Taking care of your skin before the big day is so important, but it needn’t be a headache or a massive expense. Simply introduce a good cleanse, tone and moisturise routine, and not just on your face – remember about your neck and shoulders too!
Your wedding make-up artist will be able to advise on the best products for your skin type and desired wedding day look, and will probably recommend a good serum, hydration for under the eyes and some lip care, too.
Day-to-day, make sure you wear an SPF to protect your precious skin, and avoid sunbeds or intensive sunbathing ahead of your wedding. No-one wants tan lines that interfere with their gown!
If you have extra concerns, it’s definitely worth looking into some of the northeast’s aesthetic specialists (like Temple Spa - see pics at the top of the page!) who can assist in all manner of ways to make sure you feel comfortable in your own skin.

Prepping your body
Don’t forget that looking and feeling good starts from the inside, so nourish yourself as much as possible before the big day. We’re thinking lots of fresh food and fresh air – it’s good for the soul! For something more intensive with accountability, talk to a local personal training and/or nutrition specialist. These experts know their stuff, and some even offer wedding-specific packages so you can take on the challenge with your other half, bridesmaids or best men. Good luck! ♥
