VOLUME 2: ISSUE 3

I will be with you... Dearly beloved, We sincerely wish we are bringing you this news under better economic conditions, however this is where we are and we want to still say thank God. You may ask, what is there to be thankful for? But hey! You are still alive, and when there is life, there is hope. Please be strong and trust the almighty God who will see us through these turbulent times.

PAGE 7 - CHRISTMAS TODAY

PAGE 8 - THE SILENT LESSONS OF CHRISTMAS

Throughout the Bible, there were seasons like this of economic recession; in the days of Abraham, Jacob, Joseph and even during the time of the great Prophet Elisha, it was reported that people started cooking their children to eat. But God intervened in all cases. It is especially those that believed Him who were spared the pains of economic crunch. My friend, if there has ever been a period in history to believe God, it is now! When Jacob had problems with Laban, he reported to God and God told him, return to where you come from and I will be with you. God told Abraham... I will be with you. This five words are powerful, because when God says I will be with you, it means He will make all His resources available to us. Brethren during this period, pray that God is with you and then trust Him, and all should be well.

Christmas is once again in the air; hence we have addressed various issues relating to Christmas in this edition. We have looked at what Christmas was meant to be and what it has since become in this century. The teenagers had a great time during their week and have given us a taste of that here. All the regular columns are represented. God willing from next edition we shall have a section to be called “Ask Mama” where you can anonymously ask any question bugging you, concerning marriage, life and any other spiritual advise you may want. Pastor Yemi will answer your questions and we will publish this here for everyone else to learn from. RECOVERY FROM PAST MISTAKES Another year has come and gone, and we prepare to enter into a new one. Glory be to the Lord for keeping us this far, but I discovered lately that for you to move with your vision to the next Level, you must recover and cut off your past mistakes. Maybe in the past twelve months, you have made some mistakes that you regret, maybe you have not been able to achieve all the goals you have set for yourself. Do not despair, for there is still hope. The Bible says in Micah 7:7-8: But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. Therefore, quit beating yourself down, this year end, pick yourself up and embrace the future that the Lord has planned for you, for he said in the book of Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. My Brothers and sisters, we all make mistakes every now and then in our lifetime. Every great man has a record of a major mistake in their life; even those we consider as great now. Bill Clinton had the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Bill Gates dropped out of school, yet these men are among the most successful human beings on earth today. Greatness has to do with performance, experimentations, trails, risks, however in the attempt to be great, failure do occur – your reaction to sin, weaknesses, mistakes will reveal your greatness. There are many examples of great men in the Bible, who failed at one time or the other in their lifetime: Abraham lied about his wife once, and then slept with his servant. David slept with Bathsheba and ended up causing the death of her husband, Peter denied Jesus three times in one night, Isaac also lied about his wife while protecting himself and Jacob deceived his brother to receive his birthright.

Yet they were all used by God. They recovered and were restored back into relationship with God. A key factor in the story of each and every one of them was that at one point or the other, they all acknowledged God. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Restoration is what Calvary is all about. Look at Hebrews 11:12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. There are so many people with flaws you will find in the hall of faith, but this did not stop God from using them, no matter what mistake you have made, God can help you turn it into a weapon of victory. However, remember; when you make a mistake, don’t announce it to the whole world. Never give ammunition to the enemy. You must learn from your mistakes and move on. Note the following: • Have you removed the edge? • Did you ignore the counsel of a mentor? • How about the circle of protection around your life? God, Your Pastor, Your Parents, your mentor! Watch your relationships! Restoration is the reward for Confession, Reaching and Obedience. You will be restored!

news from around

THE world by Seun Ojo

HISTORY CREATED For the first time in the history of the United State of America, a black President was elected to office. On Tuesday 4th of November, 2008 Barack Obama, Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate won a land slide election over the Republican Party’s John McCain to become the 44th President of the United States of America. The son of a Kenyan father and a white mother won the election easily and sparked large scenes of celebrations in Africa, Europe, Asia and other parts of the world apart from the United States where the elections were held. According to him, this election means, Change has come to the world! CHRISTIAN AID WORKER KILLED FOR HER FAITH In Afghanistan, a Christian aid worker with the Christian AID group, SERVE was killed by the Taliban. Gunmen reportedly shot and killed on her way to work around 0800hours on Monday 20th of October 2008. The lady identified by SERVE as Gayle Williams was said to have died almost immediately after the attack. The Taliban are reported to have issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack on the innocent and harmless aid worker. In Published remarks, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid defended the decision to kill her. "This woman came to Afghanistan to teach Christianity to the people

6

of Afghanistan," he said. "Our (leaders) issued a decree to kill this woman. This morning our people killed her in Kabul." Gayle Williams is said to be of South African-British nationality.

CHRISTIAN BISHOP DEPORTED In Belarus, a Bishop and founder of one of the country’s biggest churches has been deported for “Christian activities”. Veniamin Brukh is a bishop in the Full Gospel Church and arrived in the country only to be met in the airport with an order to deport him. A stamp was put on his passport.

50,000 CHRISTIANS HIDING IN INDIA The death of an Hindu priest in India has led to the mass killings and

destructions of properties targeted at Christians in a part of India called Orissa. This has led to several Christians running into hiding as Hindu activists go around attacking the Christians. CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) news monitored by Praisereel reported that in this area of India, Christians were being asked to renounce Christianity and embrace Hinduism and if they refuse they were in some cases hacked to death.

DID YOU KNOW? Did you know 200 million Christians all over the world are being persecuted for their faith? Did you know North Korea is the number one persecution hot spot in the world? Persecution might be a real challenge for Christians today, but it is not a new phenomenon. It dates right to the time of Jesus. In the gospel of Matthew, the theme of persecution is in the beatitudes- “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:11-12). Jesus himself too was persecuted and knew the challenges of spreading the word was inevitable – Matthew 10:16-23.

FINALLY… Let us remember to pray for missionaries the world over especially in these hard times. Also let us endeavour to be a blessing to someone in the mission field. We must obey the Bible and not become weary of well doing.

christmas today a 21st century view by Andrew Adeleke What does Christmas remind you of? Shopping? Carols? Santa Claus? Presents? For some people in today’s world, Christmas is a period to become a new person, for some it’s a season of joy, a season to remember other human beings who are less privileged but of who’s existence we have unwittingly forgotten since the last Christmas. Some even go a step further and remember to care for animals or even plants and the environment. There is always an atmosphere that pervades the Christmas season throughout the world. Even in countries where this day is not celebrated officially, there is an acknowledgement that a special celebration is ongoing, hence special events are organised and people act in a special way different from how they normally would have acted. Perhaps the fact that it is celebrated at the tail end of an old year and the twilight of a new one also contributes to the celebratory atmosphere during Christmas. Christmas in the modern world has become a huge commercial event, with various organisations, travel agencies, airlines, grocery stores, toy manufacturers, fashion designers etc investing monumental sums of money in preparing for the season; special deals are offered, special products are placed on the shelves and special promotions are made for the season, and the consumers too go on shopping spree buying everything in sight like they

were Noah on the last days before the flood. The word Christmas originated from a combination of two words; the Greek word Christos and the Latin word missa. It is a day that has been designated for the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord’s birthday and much of history celebrated His birthday with fan fare.

much of the world today has forgotten that Christmas was originally set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus However, much of the world today has forgotten that Christmas was originally set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus, who the bible said came to the world to save the world, the greatest man that ever lived, God in human flesh. Today, Christ has been taken out of Christmas and what is left is just the celebration, the fanfare, the holiday. In fact, I read somewhere that in Canada there was a proposal that the famous Christmas greeting “Merry Christmas” be changed to Happy Holiday- in order not to offend non Christians. What a travesty! In today’s world, Christmas is still the most important holiday of the year, but not the most important date in the year. I believe the onus is now on Christians the world over to take a break from the

wining and dining of Christmas and go out to tell the world what the date signifies, and who really is the reason for the season. Christmas is worth celebrating because it is the fulfilment of prophesy foretold several years before it happened as acc-ounted in the bible; Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace”. It is the birth of God in the midst of humans. Christmas is therefore more than Santa Claus - a fictional character who is another element in the effort of mankind to replace belief in God with belief in “good”. Christmas is more than the buying and sharing of gifts among friends, relatives and loved ones, Christmas is more than the chocolates, the turkey, the annual church visit – for some who never attend church until Christmas and New year eves; it is more than all these, it is rather a reminder to mankind that God sent His only begotten son to the world to bear the sin of the world and provide a way to salvation. John 3:16. It is a celebration of God’s love for the world.

It is time the world return Christmas to Christ.

Christmas is all about Jesus, yet many of the essential figures of the nativity are still recognizable, well maybe, except for Joseph. THE ANGELS take centre stage to announce the birth of the Saviour. They appear to Joseph to announce that the name of the child would be Jesus. The VIRGIN MARY, whose Divine selection humbles her, offers her beautiful hymn and thanksgiving in Luke 1:46-48. The WISE MEN are desperate in their search to find the newborn king and prepared to divest themselves of treasures to present Him with gifts of worship. In Matthew 2:2 The SHEPHERDS became evangelists! In Luke 2.

early

Oddly enough, only Joseph has no speaking part. He is the silent member of the cast and often forgotten. No notable lines are attributed to him. No sound bites. No quotes, only silence. However, while Joseph is the forgotten figure of Christmas, he is irreplaceable in the story of Jesus’ birth. Through Joseph, God protected the unborn life of Jesus and preserved human life for the Savior. Joseph’s life teaches us 3 lessons; each important in preserving and realizing God’s purpose and promise in our lives. A LESSON IN RIGHTEOUS MERCY Joseph heard the news of Mary’s pregnancy, unexpectedly. Heart-broken and betrayed, he was unsure of how to respond, it was difficult for him. Her explanation of the pregnancy was unbelievable, even profane, and did nothing to ease Joseph’s emotional pain. If Mary would not have been stoned on the charge of adultery, she could

8

have been stoned on the charge of serious blasphemy. However, Joseph chooses the path of mercy… V. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. It is the righteous mercy of Joseph, which preserved the life of Mary and preserved the unborn Christ. This merciful carpenter would raise a merciful Savior.

GOD’S PROMISES ARE PRESERVED IN PLACES OF OBEDIENCE When people deserve the sentence of justice, choose a righteous mercy, which extends patience, grace, encouragement, prayer, empathy…

identity. God’s angelic messenger addressed Joseph with a unique title, "Joseph, Son of David." Do you understand that in Christ, you have a special identity as a member of His family and that God knows who you are? With that recognition, we come into the confidence of His working through our circumstances to perfect His purpose. Next, God assured Joseph that he did not have to be afraid. Fear is the enemy of faith and steals our hope. Third, God gave Joseph direction. He was to take Mary as his wife and be a father to the child, whom he would give the name – Jesus. Be teachable and allow His instruction. A LESSON IN READY OBEDIENCE

A LESSON IN REDEMPTIVE FAITH The unborn plans of God are also protected by redemptive faith. We see this in Joseph’s faith, his willingness to believe God. In Joseph’s dream, God reminded him of His God-given

Obedience followed Joseph’s faith. With an informed faith to trust God, Joseph obeyed. He took Mary to be his wife and suffered the caustic remarks, a result of a child conceived prior to wedlock. He would also obey by giving this child the name given by the Angel, the name JESUS – a name declaring the God, who saves. Herod can’t destroy you in a place of obedience. God’s promises are preserved in places of obedience. Mercy. Faith. Obedience. Each is important to preserve and realize God’s purpose and promise in our lives. Are you waiting on a particular promise? Are you looking for an answer to a prayer? Continue in mercy, faith, and obedience and God will soon answer you. Merry Christmas! Olayemi Adeleke

single and lovin it! Serving god with all your heart by Moji Adesanya

As singles in the house of God it is my belief that there is no better time to serve God with all your hearts and might than when we are single. As apostle Paul rightly mentioned in the book of 1st Corinthian 7 vs. 32-34. Let me quickly add, that this is not to say there is anything wrong with getting married or seeking to get married. The word of God further tells us that marriage is honourable the bed undefiled (Heb 13 vs. 4a) and also makes us to realize than one shall chase a thousand and two will chase ten thousand. However I believe that will only happen if the two are properly matched. In this age Where Christians can hardly distinguish the voice of God from the various noises that assault their ears soul, where there is no longer a clear separation between the soul and spirit by the sharp two-edged sword of the word of God even amongst professing Christians; the need for young, vibrant singles to lay hold on God much more than we have done before cannot be over-emphasized. I always say that when a man has direction in life, most importantly from the Holy Spirit, he can never miss it in all he does. Another New Year is coming and I certainly don’t want to go round in circles. Be expectant and look out for the beginning of the series in the next edition of Praisereel: The series is broken into four main parts namely: How to hear from God: Your faith; effectiveness; speed; prosperity in life and destiny is hinged on this. How to Study God’s Word: Developing the muscles of faith and sharpening the ability to hear God How to pray effectively and different kind of prayers: Communication with God is a thing of joy or a bland routine (is prayer trying to convince an unwilling God to do what we are not sure he wants

to do or can do? is it a heart to heart conversation between a son and father to accomplish the father’s will? Walking with The Holy Spirit: The Comforter is the presence of God on the earth. The word of God makes us to realize that He will teach us all truth and reveal the father to us. Why do we need to Discover God? The question may arise in your heart why do you need to discover God for yourself? why do you have to put all the effort and ensure that you are not just known of God as one of his many children; but that you know God. There is a world of difference between those two positions. God has many children of diverse characters and He knows them all. But only a very few can claim they really know God and his ways. Many know his acts but a few are acquainted with his ways. It is my prayer that we not just know the act of God but rather be fully acquainted with the ways of the Great and Mighty King! Amen. The Ark of Safety As God prepared an ark for the righteous Noah in the time of great trouble upon the earth so has He prepared even a Ark at this Time: That Ark of your Safety is in this thick dark age Discovering God through the divine Spirit. The Spirit of God & the Word is the ark of safety. I believe God will reveal more of his mind to you as you join us with this series. Let us all be prayerful and expectant of what God will do with this series; It is my belief that there shall be a great deposit of God in us and we would not be the same again after this. Amen! Bet you will agree the full dose is sure worth waiting for. God bless you and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in Advance.

prostate cancer

identifying and treating the second most common form of cancer for men by Seun Ojo Prostate cancer is disease in men that results in an increase prostate capable of metastasis to lymph nodes or nearby bones. The prostate is an organ that encapsulates the urethra i.e. tube carrying urine from bladder. Therefore an increase in morphology or size of the prostate significantly narrows the urethra thereby making urination difficult. With the exception of skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in the U.K male population (cancer research UK). 35,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer per year and 73 out of every 1,000 men develop prostate cancer in their life time. An increase in prostate does not necessarily mean a cancer, the tumour could either be malignant or benign. A malignant growth of the prostate poses a life threatening prognosis, however a benign growth such as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) can be easily treated. What are the Symptoms? The most striking symptom is difficulty in urinating. It is often associated with a full bladder even though the patient has just urinated. Due to the location of the prostate and close proximity to the urethra, it is also associated with pain whilst urinating and a frequent need to urinate especially at night. Other reported symptoms include a weak and irregular flow of urine.

Causes of Prostate Cancer? To date the precise cause is unknown, however some associated factors that increase the likelihood of prostate cancer have been observed. Prevalence is very high in Black ethnic groups thereby implicating a racial inheritance. In addition, genetic predisposition among relatives increases likelihood of disease. Ageing too has been suggested as a possible cause as prevalence is common amongst men over 50 years. Diabetes, high fat and diary diet has been associated with disease in clinical studies. Conversely, diet such as tomatoes rich in lycopene, an antioxidant and selenium have been suggested to confer a protective effect. Tests and Diagnosis? If a case of prostatic cancer is suspected the initial test is a digital rectal examination to detect the size and surface appearance of the prostate. Increase in size may imply a secondary condition such as BPH rather than cancer. Blood test to check for prostatic proteins in blood too can be used to diagnose disease. Biopsy samples of the prostate too can be taken and sent to the lab for analysis. Available Treatment First treatment initiative is active surveillance to monitor the growth and presence of prostatic proteins in blood. Surgery to remove the prostate completely can be carried out if the tumour has not metastasized. Radiotherapy to destroy the cells is an option if the tumour is cancerous. Hormone therapy to prevent male sex hormones involved in prostate growth can be given, however this does not kill cancerous cells. In summary, prostate cancer is a disease that can be diagnosed without much difficulty, although treatment approach is often more difficult and takes into consideration several factors based on specialist consultation. Any of the symptoms addressed must be taken seriously to avoid delay in treatment and metastasis.

‘Your’ race ‘Your’ career whose race are you focusing on? by Ibukun Adebayo finishing line for them to take the podium; if you’re watching the ‘horse’ in front, what happens when they veer off course or take shortcuts to try to reach the finishing line – do you follow the horse or keep on track? Who says their finishing line is yours?

A young gentleman recently apologised for repeatedly questioning me on my career, and explained his reasoning, quoting an African adage – translated – ‘the horse at the back focuses on the horse in front when running its own race’. Despite having agreed with this adage so many times in my life, I retorted ‘that’s not true!’ against my character norm which is to give a well thought-out response to most debates. My knee-jerk response left me in the position of having to quickly think of reasons why that adage does not stand true, and I eventually came up with the following. When defining your career, you can’t choose to focus on your mentor ‘horse’, parents ‘horse’, or your role model ‘horse’ all ahead of you. These may all be ‘horses’ in the front that have run or are running a great race, with great success, accolades, riches, medals and recognition being their just reward, but who says that if you keep your focus on their race you’re going to get the same result? Indeed, who says you’re both cut out for the same career or race? I’ve watched a few programmes i.e. My Wife and Kids, and ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ where Michael ‘the man of the house!’, and Geoffrey ‘the butler’ were in separate races and they careered off the race track, outside the stadium and into a cab which dropped them off close enough to the

16

The fact is that there are many tactics to running your career race, and the ‘horse’ in front – your role-model or mentor - may just be a ‘pacesetter’, in the race to set you on your way, set the initial pace for you and then drop out – if you’re relying on a ‘pacesetter horse’ to get you to the point where you fulfil your career goals, then again, what happens when they drop out of the race? Despite the many career options out in the market, many professionals who would make great bankers attempt to follow the ‘horse in front’ into IT; many a great lawyer follows the ‘horse in front’ into Project Management, with ‘Testing’ being the new career choice for many horses who might be best employed as doctors, teachers or lawyers. Careers such as nursing are being ignored by many ‘stud’ horses as these have traditionally not been seen as ‘jobs for the boyz’. Conversely, many traditional ‘jobs for the boyz’ are being taken up by women – did anyone read the news reports of the lady in the City, who quit to become a £60 per hour plumber? The main focus, throughout your career race should be where ’you’ aim to be at the end of your career i.e. your finishing line. Yes, keep an eye on the pacesetter horse that will drop out eventually, and the mentor horse in front – spurring you on to run faster and harder to reach your goals, but be prepared to excel and overtake the horse in front during the course of your race to enable you to achieve the ultimate desired prize, i.e. a job in your own chosen career field, where you’ve run your own race, and where the finishing line has been determined solely by those God-given skills He invested in you, and not by the horse in front.

Which ‘CAR...’

for christmas and the new year? by Ibukun Adebayo Having been on the receiving end of presents which were too small, too short, too big, or just ‘not my style’, I’ve realised the best person to get you a Christmas present is YOU! You know your shoe size can’t be found in London – or even America as I recently found out; you know your shirt size, favourite perfume or aftershave and, more importantly, you know your specific ‘NEEDS’ and desires better than anyone else. With the ongoing credit crunch, a question on my mind recently has been what’s the best Christmas gift for a season like this i.e. a ‘CAR’, ‘CAReer coaching’ or even ‘CARpentry lessons’? The majority of people I know would choose a car. My car has groaned up quite a few hills, and cost me a few anxious moments when changing gears, yet a car would be my last choice as a gift as it’s a gift with no long-term benefits. The minute the car leaves the garage, depreciation kicks in and the value heads in one direction only, i.e. downwards. So, let’s take the gift of a ‘career’. If asked to personally invest in the gift of a session with a career counsellor, how many of us would consider this to be a gift rather than a waste of an hour or two spent talking to a counsellor that could have been better spent earning a meagre hourly wage in a job with no longterm prospects? On the other hand one could argue that having a career counselling session for an hour or two might enable you to determine what career choices you need to make for the New Year and the medium-term but, in this new era where there’s no ‘job for life’ anymore, the benefits might not last a lifetime. Growing up, the resounding words of my parents were ‘you shall be a doctor!’ – despite me hating and failing every single science subject; just thank God I’m not a doctor or should I say ‘YOUR’ doctor today! The four chapters of my career so far have read – ‘what my parents wanted me to be’, ‘what I wanted to be’, ‘what I was forced to study for as

I didn’t get the right grades for what I wanted to be’, ‘and what I eventually ended up being’ i.e. four totally different careers! There’s another chapter on the way though, i.e. ‘what I will do with my hands to make wealth during this credit crunch?’ So, having weighed up the arguments provided and considered the question above, instead of a car or career counselling, might carpentry lessons [or re-skilling] be just the gift we all need this Christmas? Yep, I can almost feel the sense of outrage as you ponder ‘who’s she calling a carpenter?’ Here’s a sweetener – ‘there was once a famous carpenter, born on Christmas day...’ The fact remains that people with ‘skills of the hand’ earn a decent income e.g. good plumbers, carpenters, electricians and mechanics are never out of business. Those with the God-given ‘gift’ to use their hands to provide critical services are the ones who never experience a downturn in times of economic drought. As you choose your personal Christmas gift this year what’s it going to be, i.e. a CAR, CAR-eer counselling, CARpentry lessons or the one option I haven’t aforementioned – a business ‘CAR-d’ and invoice from a skilled plumber or carpenter who has charged you a hefty sum to do a job in your home you could have invested in a few lessons to learn to do yourself?

Expansion means for one to leave his current state and move to another level. In Chronicles 4:910. God granted the request of Jabez and changed his story basically because he asked with a strong desire and believed God could change his story and his name which meant sorrow can be changed to something else. The bible recorded that God enlarged his coast. Becoming successful in life and destiny is not about physical strength.

think or desire, many of us have been desiring and desiring, but we are not thinking, hence we are not entering into the inheritance God has planned for us. God wants us to expand our imaginations: Isaiah 54:1-2. The Lord wants us to enlarge the place of our habitations and see with His eyes and not our own. It is until we begin to see as God sees that we can expand.

Saul and Jonathan were recorded to be swifter than eagles and stronger than a Lion. An eagle is the swiftest of birds and a Lion is the strongest of animals, anyone who is stronger than a Lion and swifter than an eagle is super human. However both Saul and Jonathan died in battle. The one that survived them is the one the Lord’s mercy has preserved. What is it then? The Bible said the battle is not to the strong nor race to the swift, but he that lord showeth mercy. God showed David mercy and despite the fact that Saul and Jonathan were strong and swift, David survived them.

There are three major Agents of Expansion.

You can be more honourable than your brethren; you can be above the rest. In Gen 1:26; God commanded man to have dominion over all creation. This is a commandment; hence by not having dominion, we are actually disobeying God and living below the standard he has set for us. The bible said God can do exceedingly above all we can

20

1. GOD 2. YOURSELF 3. OTHER PEOPLE GOD: Heb 3:4 - for every House is built by some man, but He that built all things is God. If God does not allow it, it cannot be done. Hence you must get right with God; any man who is successful today is so because God has allowed Him to be so for one reason or the other. Can God trust you with His treasures? God is the principal factor. YOU: Every man must know his purpose for living. Without this, you will be lost. You must then have a strong desire to make it. Mark 11:24 -Therefore I say, whatsoever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them. Therefore:

A. Desire it B. Find it in the word, look for a place in the bible where God has promised you what you want and use it to pray; Psalm 115:4, Job 8:7, Psalm 71:71, Daniel 9:2. Everything God has promised you is in the book. C. Pray authoritatively: Matthew 18:18, Matthew 16:18. Pray with passion, pray with focus and pray and refuse to take no for an answer. D. Deal with all hindrances to your expansion, sin, laziness, too much sleep. Expand your capacity. E. Listen To the word of God only. Don’t listen to people who say it cannot be done. Do not give up your dream for anybody. F. Activate the hand of God through sacrifice. Fire does not fall on an empty altar. Solomon sacrificed and provoked God to asking him what he wants. Make a move of faith TODAY! Do something about it. 2Kings 7:4-7 OTHER PEOPLE: You need destiny connectors in your life. Jonathan helped David become King. Luke was following Paul around and helped him record most of his exploits. Your destiny connectors help you fulfil your destiny. They don’t compete with you. They are excited at your growth. Find yours today prayerfully.

A day with…

pastor andrew by Kunle Falodun Praisereel recently spent a day with Pastor Andrew Adeleke in an attempt to know a bit more about this very charismatic Pastor and leader. Pastor Andrew, a member of the executive committee of the UK arm of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, arguably the fastest growing church in the world today. He is also the Senior Pastor and founder of House of Praise, a part of the RCCG. PASTOR ANDREW’S TYPICAL WEEK: SUNDAY: Wake up at 5.am to pray. Leave the house for church by 7.am to take the leaders meeting and workers meeting by 8.am. The first service starts at around 9.am and finishes at 11.am. Appointments and counselling are held between 11.10 and 11.20. The 2nd service then commences by 11.30 and finishes around 1.30pm. More Counselling and appointments. See the Teenagers by 2.30pm. Take the Yoruba service which starts at 4.30pm. Get home by 7pm to relax and dine with the family, sleep for a while, watch a bit of football especially if there is an Arsenal match to see. Take time to prepare for Monday’s early morning glory. MONDAY: Leave the house by 5.am to conduct the early morning service at Charlton from 6-7am. Return home, rest a bit and make way to the office to resume between 11.00 and 11.30am latest. In the office; typically attend meetings, examine business proposals, counsel etc. Leave the office by 7pm to get home for like 8.30pm. Rest, dine and prepare for Divine encounter on Tuesday in Peckham. TUESDAY: This is really a repetition of Monday, Then prepare for Wednesday Bible study. WEDNESDAY: A bit busy, meetings, and preparation for evening service. THURSDAY: if there is no external engagement, I take a rest and prepare for Friday, especially if there is vigil coming up.

FRIDAY: Evening Prayer meetings or vigils or external engagements. SATURDAY: This is a day for external engagements, weddings, specialised services and preparation for the services on Sunday. DOES HE REALLY REST? Pastor Andrew said; “The bible says there is time for everything. There are occasions when you have to create time for the family, because if the family is broken down, the church cannot stand. I try to manage my busy schedule by involving my family in my programme. They travel with me sometimes. It has not been easy, but God has been faithful”.

the best is yet to come! VISION FOR 2009 “The lord has spoken to us about 2009, it is going to be our year of fruitfulness and reproduction. It is going to be a year when the body of Christ will give birth to many nations. For the RCCG House of Praise, the lord has said that barrenness will be a stranger to us, physically and spiritually”.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT? “We need to look at the areas of commitment to God” He stated “People are getting distracted by rumours of war”. He said the church will teach more on commitment and faithfulness to marital vows, family values and real friendship. He said there are no longer real friendships the type of which David testified of Jonathan in 2 Samuel. “People need helpers of destiny. We worship Jesus today because He was highly committed to us to the point that He took our place on the cross” He concluded. He also added that the church will also focus on prosperity, and teaching the people to own their own business. ON RCCG UK Pastor Andrew began by saying God has been helping the church. He praised the unity and the wisdom and leadership of the chairman; Pastor Agu Irukwu, under whose leadership, the work has expanded tremendously. He further stated that the best is yet to come. “In 2009, we plan to go into Wales, Scotland, everywhere. No place will be able to contain us”. “Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer has prophesied, and as a genuine prophet of God we believe that very soon, we shall get our own camp ground because I know his word shall come to pass”.

THE FOCUS FOR 2009 Pastor Andrew stated that the church’s focus is on expanding the kingdom of God and taking back the lost through active Evangelism. BUILDING PLANS He told Praisereel that the church is trusting God to worship in a new auditorium in 2009. He continued “...but apart from building the physical structure; we shall train more missionaries, ministers, workers of the gospel and plant more churches”.

Complimentary to The Christian and Infertility this book focuses on the story of an infertile woman in the Bible, her provocations, prayer and praise. Whatever makes you incomplete, unfulfilled, less than whom God made you to be, whatever issue of life that the enemy uses to provoke you calls for prayer.

The Christian and Infertility addresses one of the often neglected needs of Christian couples. It gives an insight into infertility from the biblical and medical perspectives. It is written not only for potential fruitful couples but for pastors, family and friends of these couples. It is written that the Body of Christ might be fully equipped to know and support couples who are facing the challenge of infertility at present.

This self-assessment guide is a structured Q&A book that develops the reader’s understanding capability. Clinical indications are presented with their corresponding ultrasound findings using appropriate illustrations. A case study approach is followed; presenting the clinical and ethical dilemmas that might arise whilst encouraging students to think. The aim is to reinforce theoretical knowledge within a clinical environment.

The privileged position of a mother is in her being a co-creator with God and bringing forth life (lives). Whilst the father could be likened to the pilot of the family plane, the mother can be likened to the force behind the plane – positive or negative. Good mothers are not only cocreators with God, they also do nurture as well as nourish their children physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Every wise woman preparing to get married knows she will need sound advice, practical tips and solid, heartfelt prayers, of those who have travelled on the road she is about to journey on. In this book, 10 women of different age groups, from different backgrounds and cultures who wedded under various circumstances, individually share their experience with the bride in an intimate, very candid and unforgettable way.

‘’An exhaustive analysis of the Book of Ruth in the Bible. The author combines her deep Christian conviction and excellent knowledge of the Holy Scriptures to produce a must read for every Christian. The book is interspaced with beautifully written prayers, which enables the reader to pause, pray and meditate on the revelations received… The book is also loaded with poetry.’’ Dr E B Ekpo MD, FRCP. THE BIBLE SAYS IN THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS THAT THEY OVERCAME BY THE WORD OF BLOOD OF THE LAMB AND THE WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY. AS THIS IS THE LAST EDITION OF THE MAGAZINE, WE HAVE PRESENTED SOME OF THE MOST NOTABLE TESTIMONIES OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR. WE PRAY THAT THEY WILL INSPIRE FAITH IN TO RECEIVE A TESTIMONY TOO. UNQUESTIONABLE IS OUR GOD

On Thursday the 5th of June, 2008, my friend was rushed to the hospital and was in intensive care for 2 weeks. I called on the God of Pastor Yemi Adeleke to bring the dead back to life as there were complications, collapsed lungs, kidney failure, etc. On Friday against all odds and doctor’s report from 3 good hospitals in London, my friend walked out of the hospital with her two legs, no dialysis’, no oxygen or ventilator, she came out the way God created her with a whole sound mind. Brethren, I admonish you in any hopeless situation to call on God of Olayemi Adeleke, He will do it for you.

I thank God for a short, quick and easy delivery. I went to the hospital for a check up, and when I got there, I was told I was going to be monitored. While the baby was being monitored, they noticed his heart beat was irregular with contractions, over a period of time the situation was still the same and the gynaecologist came and told me that I needed to have an emergency C-Section in 5 minutes. On the theatre table, the anaesthetist could not find a good place in my spine to inject the Epidural. Just minutes later, I had the urge to push and the baby came out to their amazement. Glory be to God. I gave birth to a healthy son. Praise God.

WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE This time last year, I was diagnosed with PCOS. Its features are irregular menstrual period and infertility. I was placed on fertility treatment. Both my husband and I became frustrated as I was not pregnant even on the highest dose of fertility medication so I stopped taking these medications believing God for a miracle. To the glory of God, last month I realised that I was pregnant. I want to praise God because His ways and thoughts are different from that of man. I got pregnant despite the doctor’s report that I was infertile. SIS BUKOLA ONUOHA

DOUBLE PORTION RESTORATION I am thanking God for glorifying Himself upon my nephew’s household. In September 2007, he lost his nine-month old baby. To the glory of God, the Lord blessed him with bountiful baby girls. The Lord surprised them with twins less than a year of losing their first son. Thank you my Lord for your faithfulness. HELP OF THE HELPLESS I thank God for His mercy over me. 10 years ago I lost my parents and continuing my education became a mountain. To the glory of God, a company was awarding scholarships, so I applied to participate. I was given the scholarship and I didn’t pay anything throughout my degree. Few years later, I finished the course with a First Class, to the glory of God. MILLER ADEMOLA LUWOYE
