A MAN AND HIS FAMILY There are 2 men with the same dreams. They want to build a house just like any other man. They want to be successful. The two men are found in the bible, in a story Jesus told in Luke 6:43-49. I believe these two men had the same training, heard the same word, had similar dreams, lived in the same neighborhood and they were both affected by the same storms.
Building a family is hard work and an expensive commitment. Your foundation determines your future. The two men we are looking at had two different results/ outcomes; ones’ family made it, the other one did not. One house stood, the other fell. One marriage made it, the other did not. The one that acted on the revelation of God made it, but the one that did not, failed.
Everyman on earth faces the same problems; rebellion, difficulties, adversities, sickness, betrayal, personal differences and so on. We are all susceptible to the same conditions, but some succumb while others don’t.
Have you been listening to the advice of man or the advice of God? For your marriage to work; husband, love your wife. Wife reverence your husband. What the woman needs is your heart. What the man needs is in his head! The foundation is the key. The biblical way to marriage is ‘marry to date’! Whereas the way of the world is ‘date to marry’! In our story; before the storm, both houses looked the same, the faulty foundation was not apparent to everybody, then the storm came and the difference became clear. The storm will always tell the story. One of the major reasons of trials is to let you know where you are.
The Bible described one of these men as a wise man and the other a fool. A wise man has access to information and applies it, whereas a fool has the information but no application. The main difference between these 2 men is the foundation for their construction. The wise man built on a rock, the foolish man built on sand. From this story we can deduce that the depth of the foundation will determine the height of the building. Do you want to have a sky scraper family? Then dig a deep foundation of love, fellowship and understanding. Be transparent; stealing kisses in the car, smuggling and illegal sexual activities will never amount to anything concrete. In all that you do, check your spiritual depth?
Rocky foundation takes time Sandy foundation does not Rocky foundation is expensive Sandy foundation is cheap Rocky foundation is hard Sandy foundation is easy
It is better to pray before you need to pray. Revelation is better than cure. Rain will come – it is the nature of life to rain. Jesus says a house built on me will stand; build your destiny, dreams, business, and finances on Him. In Mark 4:1, after Jesus had taught the people for a while, he slept off in a boat surrounded by the disciples. I believe Jesus slept off on purpose to see whether they had been paying attention to His teachings. The way God sees whether you are paying attention is to allow you to be tested. Don’t let your circumstances determine your theology. When the storm came, the disciples were afraid. However, the fear that overtook them when Jesus calmed the storm was greater than their fear of the storm itself. God wants you to fear him more than your storms/ circumstances. God can handle your storm! Your first option is not to quit, divorce, throw in the towel, commit suicide or run away. Remember, the storm will not last forever. God has never said you will not have problems but if your foundation is on Him, though you fall, you will rise again.

“I HAVE A BURDEN FOR WOMEN...” THE STORY OF TOTAL WOMAN AT TEN Interview with Yemi Adeleke The Total Woman ministry is 10! And to celebrate this huge achievement, Praisereel spoke to the President of the Total Woman Ministry, Pastor ‘Yemi Adeleke on what has driven her on these past 10 years. Pastor ‘Yemi, fondly called Mama by her loving congregation is a very experienced pastor who God has taken through a journey full of intrigues, challenges and many triumphs. She never fails to give gratitude to God for giving her the opportunities she has had to make an impact. She is a woman who carries a burden for other women, and this was dominant throughout our interview with her. Going down memory lane, she gave an insight into how Total Woman started; “In 1997, I got a burden to do something for women in leadership, being in leadership myself, I realise that it can be lonely at the top, especially as women. There is an overwhelming desire to see women Pastors and Pastors’ wives come together and network, bearing each other’s burdens.” She continued, “I saw a conference organised by Joy Strang in Florida which I attended. At the meeting, God spoke to me and the burden within me increased. So I came back determined to do something about the mandate God has given me for women”. Pastor Yemi went on to describe how prophesies had gone out before now to describe how God will use her among women. At that time though, she thought God was going to use her among women in the House of praise (her local congregation). However after she returned from Florida, she wrote to all Pastor’s wives and female pastors that she knew, inviting them for a meeting. The reaction was fantastic; her invitation couldn’t have been timelier. Thank God more especially for the support and encouragement of her husband (Pastor Andrew Adeleke). “This led to the very
first leaders’ dinner we had, holding in February 1998 at the Marriot hotel, Bexleyheath. I invited Ruth Monroe to be our first ever speaker at the one day dinner.” She said. Immediately after this meeting, all the women that attended were asking her when the next one would be. It was like a divine set up. After this event, Pastor Yemi wrote to the leaders to be part of the planning committee for the next event, in response to the demand. Twenty three of the leaders indicated their intention to be part of the event and all of them incidentally have their own women ministries today. “Just before the next meeting in June that year, I was sleeping on a Thursday when I woke up with a startle, it was like someone woke me up and I started to shiver, saying ‘Lord I will do it’.
“There is an overwhelming desire to see women Pastors and Pastors’ wives come together and network, bearing each other’s burdens” The voice of the Lord then said, get a pen and write. I started to write that day and what has now become the Total Woman Ministry Vision and Mandate information came from that night of encounter.” She continued “I was weeping that night and that powerful encounter has kept me going” she said emphatically. “It reminds me that God called me, so I never get discouraged. Since then we have had 17 conferences and the one in July 2008 is the 18th one. We wanted to know where the name Total Woman came from, and Pastor Yemi responded by saying, the name came from God. “God dropped it in my heart” she said. CONTINUED ON PAGE 11

news from around
THE world by Seun Ojo
NEW CONVERT KILLED FOR HIS FAITH According to International Christians concern (ICC), a 29 year old Somalian convert by the name of David was shot and killed by Islamic extremists because of his recent conversion from Islam to Christianity. David had returned home to visit his family after 13 years living abroad as an evangelist. In this story the most shocking aspect was the role played by his cousin, who instigated the attack by alerting Al-Shaba, an Islamic extremist group to the whereabouts of his cousin. On questioning David about his faith, he replied ‘I am a follower of the Messiah’, a true sign of faithfulness to his calling like Apostle Paul. (Ephesians 4:1). In annoyance, the extremists and cousin pulled out their guns and shot him continuously. This is just one account of what millions of Christians all over the world face today. Please let us all remember our Christian brothers and sisters in our prayers. May Almighty GOD shower his protection on each one of us daily in JESUS name, AMEN! RELIGIOUS CLEANSING IN IRAQ Religious cleansing in northern Iraq has been reported of late by several media sources. According to BosNews life, a particular city in N.Iraq with an important symbolism to the Christian faith i.e. where Prophet Jonah preached his message of repentance; has been reported to be the site of this persecution. Reports claim Christians are being nailed to the cross and mocked for their belief of Christianity. As I read this, the prayer point that came to mind was ‘forgive them for they know not what they do’.

LONDON GETS NEW MAYOR The City of London woke up on the 2nd of May 2008 to news that a new mayor has taken over. Conservative party candidate, Boris Johnson who many did not give a chance at the beginning of his campaign floored two time Mayor, Ken Livingstone at the polls. These are definitely new times for the city of London as all the late promises of the former mayor could not sway the voters in his favour. We wish the new Mayor well and pray that God will give him wisdom to rule the city well in these troubling times.
EVIL LEGISLATION
CHURCH LEADERS AS TARGETS
The extreme length of Christian persecution in the world today is incomprehensible. In the Indian state of Gujarat, an anticonversion law has been legalised. In a state where majority of the population are Hindu’s, this law has been criticized as a direct discrimination on Christians and a hindrance on spreading the word of GOD. The anti-conversion law goes on further to imply a government authorisation must be sought after by the ‘convertee’ so as to keep a record on the number of Christian converts. As children of GOD we know and understand no earthly being can contain the word of the consuming fire (Hebrews 12:2829; therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, for our GOD is a consuming fire).
Heads of the church are now the primary target in some parts of the world. In Sri Lanka, a church leader was gunned down whilst his wife and 2 year old son were injured. According to OneNewsNow, this pre-planned attack is now the tactics used to in-still fear in Christians but because we serve the one and only true living God who rules in the affairs of man, we should not be moved but stand firm and hold on to our lord. As many are of good courage in the lord, we ought to give them the spiritual prayer backing because ‘we battle neither against flesh and blood but against principalities and against powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places’ (Ephesians 6:12) Let us endeavour to remember our spiritual leaders in prayer as they go abroad to evangelise or conduct missionary work.
The purposeful woman is a woman that understands her purpose and fulfils it. She is a successful woman. Success is about fulfilling the purpose of your creation. To be purposeful is to be like God, as God is a God of purpose. He does not just act without a purpose. The order of creation in the biblical book of Genesis shows how strategic God is. Until you discover your purpose as a woman you cannot fulfil your purpose. Unless you know what you are designed for, you will be misdirected and confused. Every one will tell you who they think you are and what they think you should be doing. Generally speaking women are greatly abused as the society/church does not understand the purpose of a woman. In some countries, up till today women are not better than mere furniture. Good looking women are married to add to the prestige of the man and if she is very educated it is an added bonus. To some they are baby making machines. Not more than a tenth of the women who has ever lived really realised or maximised their potentials while alive. Stop listening to what others say you are or even what the mirror says you are. A lot of women get bitter and angry with God and others over what is being said about them, and this is only because they are not receiving information from the right source. You are God’s idea and not man’s idea. You are an original and not an afterthought. You bring completion to God’s creation.
Fulfilment and satisfaction (which a lot of women lack) is gotten by fulfilling your purpose. What then is your purpose? The book of Genesis 2:20 – 25 describes the purpose of a woman as follows: RELATIONSHIP/COMPANIONSHIP WITH GOD God is a relationship oriented God. He created Humankind to share friendship with. The same reason He created Adam for himself was the same reason He brought Eve out of Adam. VOCATION Dominating God’s world is a shared responsibility between Adam and Eve. God’s purpose for you is fruitfulness – not barrenness. God’s purpose for you is multiplication – not stagnancy. God’s purpose for you is Dominion – not to be dominated or abused PERSONAL CALL This is built on the first two primary purposes. Whatever you are passionate about is the signal to your purpose. Don’t ignore it and don’t make the mistake of standing in someone else’s call. If you stay connected to the vine your call will definitely unfold. GOD’S PURPOSE FOR YOU CANNOT BE TAMPERED WITH For you to be a purposeful woman you not only have to know your purpose but you also need to stand and fulfil your purpose. You can fulfil your purpose because God is serious about His purpose for His children. Ps.33:10 & 11 – The Lord foils the plans of the nations he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE PURPOSEFUL? It takes Determination, Diligence and Discipline to be purposeful. Esther still realised her purpose despite Harman’s wicked plot, despite her being an orphan and a Jew. Sarah fulfilled her purpose. Despite the delay in the manifestation of her promise and despite her manipulative control over Abraham and her past failures (Hagar), she still became the mother of faith. Anna the prophetess in the book of Luke, despite the fact that she lost her husband still fulfilled her purpose. Being a childless widow in the eastern culture was the poorest level you could ever be. Rather than sit and murmur she became sold out to God in prayer and fasting. She outsmarted the devil and took advantage of her availability. Putting aside her youthfulness and her plans prayed the Messiah’s coming into manifestation, talking about partnering with God. Woman, despite all odds, disadvantages and challenges, you too can make your purpose a reality through your determination, diligence and living a life of discipline.

by Silvia Okuku Keeping It Real, is the House of Praise Charlton forum for single Christians, where issues pertaining to living a fruitful Christian way of life is addressed. The forum is for singles between the ages of 18-29. Within this age group are the vibrant vessels; ages 18-24 and Pillars of Praise; ages 25-29. Keepin It Real by God’s grace has taken off far better than expected and has developed into a tight close knit family of single Christians. Since the beginning of the year, Keeping It Real has generated a substantial amount of interest amongst the singles and is responsible, in part, for the excitement and buzz running through the singles at HOP right now. The forum holds every Sunday at 6pm, adopting an interactive and unique format which still retains crucial principles necessary for spiritual growth. It allows singles to dig into the WORD and address various issues relating to singles today. Furthermore, the format ensures a sound delivery of the core message with sublime use of interactive Q&A sessions, alongside bible teachings. To date, several topics relating to the life of singles have been discussed, e.g. ‘triumphing over sin’, ‘marriage’, ‘triumphing over finance’, ‘triumphing over sexual temptation’, ‘how to hear God’, ‘steps to spiritual growth’ (Galatians 5), etc. These topics have been a blessing in helping single Christians to deal with the everyday battles faced by us in the world today. As singles, we may find ourselves often bewildered by the partnership ascribed by God for our lives; hence we need spiritual guidance either through fellowship or mentoring.
I strongly believe Keepin It Real provides an avenue for us to channel our focus onto walking WITH God as single Christians. (Psalm 15- O lord, who shall ascend onto your holy sanctuary? Who may dwell in that holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and does what is right...) Moreover, the forum has helped singles network socially, for example, during the valentine weekend, the singles went out to dinner at the O2; an outing that truly showed the close bonding by the singles. There was an impressive turnout of more than 100 people, a figure that showcases God’s work in the single’s ministry. Other social events include birthday celebrations, barbecue gatherings etc. The support from the church has been tremendous; the fact that our Pastors have specifically set aside the final day of the 10th year Total Women’s Anniversary Conference for the singles by organizing a formal ball on a boat cruise shows how much they care for the ministry. As a church, we believe being single is an opportunity to set time out for God and serve him wholeheartedly, so I appeal to any single who needs fellowship, thirsts for revival, or hungers for spiritual growth to come and partake and experience God’s work in House Of Praise, Charlton where we are Single and Loving it !!!

by Kunle Falodun Pastor Andrew Adeleke, Senior Pastor of the RCCG House of Praise and Chairman of the African Mission recently went to Zambia, one of the many mission fields in Africa where the RCCG is involved. Pastor Andrew was very excited about his trip to Zambia as he was able to see firsthand what is happening on the mission field.
Zambians are now part of the ministry and taking up major roles in the church”. He continued, “God has graced the RCCG with favour and kindness in Zambia. People coming from different denominations are on the ground helping.” “At the Ministers’ conference, over 2,000 ministers, from all over Zambia and beyond came to listen to the General Overseer speak.” Pastor Andrew said.
It was the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Zambia’s’ 4th National convention, held at the Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia. Pastor E.A Adeboye, the General overseer of the RCCG was the main speaker during the occasion. A lot of dignitaries were in attendance including a former Vice president of Zambia, and the Bishop of Bread of Life Church i.e. the largest Church in Lusaka was also in attendance.
Talking about the needs in the Mission field of Zambia, Pastor Andrew said the churches in the capital city of Lusaka are doing well, but the churches in the remote areas are suffering. He said, “I heard of a missionary and his family who are living in an uncompleted building; moreover, some churches are over 8 hours drive from the capital city, and believe it or not, there are missionaries there. The locals need help, the many disabled people and HIV positive patients there also need help”
Pastor Andrew’s mission to Zambia was, according to him, “to see the missionaries on the ground in Zambia and get a first-hand feel for new developments on the mission field; whilst also celebrating the convention with brethren”. He then went on to say that “God has been helping the RCCG in Zambia, so many indigenous
He concluded by saying that the House of Praise will, for the next six months, contribute a tenth of the church’s income to meet the needs of the missionaries in Zambia and Zimbabwe, whilst also recognising the need for a hospital in Kenya.

10 WOMEN
INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN FROM THE BIBLE by Ibukun Adebayo As Total Woman celebrates 10 years of encouraging, motivating, and propelling women into their destinies; here’s 10 Total Women from the Bible, with tips to aid us in our quest to remain as ‘Total Women’.
discreetly set out to stop David from killing him. Behind every man, there’s a wise Total Woman!
How many would meekly accept an angel’s word, as a virgin, telling us we were going to get pregnant – at the expense of our fiancé and the whole world questioning our morals and fidelity?
Rahab, a prostitute and outcast took a step of faith which not only saved her life, but catapulted her from shame into the lineage of Jesus Christ. Total Women, despite our backgrounds, focus on making the future good rather than trying to redeem an irreparable past.
RAHAB
M A RY Mary not only accepted the Word; she saw her son – our Saviour – through persecution, temptation from the devil, and eventual crucifixion, right through to resurrection! Total Women obey God unconditionally. RUTH Ruth refused to walk away from her destiny, sticking to a walk of faith with Naomi which led her to a great inheritance. It’s easier to walk away; Total Women endure during tough times. ESTHER At the risk of being killed by the King, Esther never lost her trust in God, nor forgot where she was coming from. How many of us begrudge relatives or friends who need our help? Total Women, when placed in positions of power, remember their roots.
MARY MAGDALENE Mary Magdalene was delivered from 7 whole demons, yet still allowed herself to be used of God; following him from crucifixion to burial; and being a witness of His resurrection. Total Women are ‘Comeback Kids’, we fall and yet rise over and over again. ELIZABETH Despite having walked ‘blamelessly’ before God, Elizabeth was childless for a season; yet still chose to serve God with all her heart. She never wavered in her love for Christ, and kept praying for God to meet her need for a seed until he answered. What a reward for her faith – who wouldn’t want John the Baptist as a Son? Total Women love God, whatever the circumstance. HANNAH
Sarah, the Mother of Nations, waited for decades for Isaac – yet hoped and trusted God until fruition. Total Women never give up despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Hannah, repeatedly mocked by Peninnah, refused to be side-tracked , instead, throwing her soul at the altar, crying to God until He heard her. She not only prayed, but promised God to give back to Him what she was so desperately seeking, i.e. the child. She didn’t go back on her word either! Total Women are never overwhelmed by circumstances; we live by faith and faith alone.
ABIGAIL
DEBORAH
Abigail was a wise woman. Nabal had done the ‘man thing’ and provoked David into his common pastime, i.e. seeking vengeance. Yet Abigail, despite her wisdom, recognised that without her husband she was nothing, and quickly and
Deborah, unusually, was a leader amongst men. She led with honour, whilst maintaining a marriage and home. Total Women are multi-talented. We have the God-given ability to excel in everything God has laid our hands to do.
SARAH
praisereel When Pastor John Watson, the ageless leader of the group invited me for a quick chat after their ministration, I rushed to meet him and enjoyed the few moments I spent with him going down memory lane. Vinesong was formed in Africa, way back in 1982. It was then made up of Pastor John, Sylvia & James Twine and Pam, Sylvia’s sister. Pastor John left his home in Southern Africa in 1977 to come to the United Kingdom as a Missionary. He started a church in London before going to Holland and then on to America. He returned to Africa in 1982 where the Vinesong group started. Vinesong was named after the Vineyard churches in Africa; it was founded by John Wilburn and Ken Gulliksen. His father, “a huge missionary”, in Pastor John’s words; led a church on the coast of Durban, South Africa in a small town called Tongaat. This church was established in an old Hindu Cinema. The man fondly known as Doc Watson (real name Revd Reid Watson) rested in the lord in 1983. After his fathers’ death, Pastor John spent a further four years in Africa working with the world renowned evangelist; Reinhardt Bonnke before God told him to move his ministry base to England. He has been in England now for 22 years, travelling all over the world from his new home.
by Kunle Falodun One fine Sunday Morning, RCCG House of Praise was treated to music ministration from the legendary Vinesong. Personally, I have eagerly looked forward to this day since the announcement was made as I have always admired this group since I was a young boy. The name ‘Vinesong’ brought back memories, sweet memories of my early years.

“He wants me to deal with the woman in total. This has a two-fold meaning; one is dealing with the whole person of women (spiritually, physically, mentally and financially) while the other meaning is dealing with networking and the bringing together of women from all nations and churches i.e creating a total togetherness among women.” Total woman, a charitable organisation, which is non-profit making in anyway have over the past 10 years made great impact in the society, despite the fact that it has not been officially launched. “God laid it on my heart to officially and unusually launch the ministry even though we are already 10 years in existence. He told me that what we are about to see is so great that it will make the past 10 years a child’s play and in fact we are just starting. All we have been doing, as good as it may have seem has been a rehearsal for the next phase of the assignment. It is now time to practically bless womanhood” she stated authoritatively. When we asked her what has been Total woman’s greatest achievement to date, she said “It is the challenge we have given to other women ministries and female pastors/pastors’ wives, the motivation, the challenge and the friendship. Total woman has
Vinesong have released about 15 albums to date. Some of their most popular songs are: let your living Water Flow, Holy Spirit Moving On, Peace like a river and Lift up the name of Jesus. A new album is out this year called: I behold your glory; “God told us this album will be massive in the world” said Pastor John. “I have been ordained a full pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God by the General Overseer, Pastor EA Adeboye, a man who I am privileged to have a great relationship with. He re-named me after the ordination eight years ago in Lagos Nigeria; Pastor Akinwande Oluwale Watson. The GO is my father in the Lord and personal mentor”, he concluded.
built a platform for women leaders, where everyone relates outside denominational boundaries and other hitherto existing barriers.” With a countenance full of satisfaction as well as desire for more, she said, “The future is in the hand of God, but we thank God for the achievements of the past. One of the major projects we are trying to undertake is “the women’s Refuge”, a place where troubled and abused women can run to for help. The orphanage in Rwanda would also have started before the Conference by God’s grace. Finally we asked Pastor Yemi what the experience of running Total Woman has been so far. She thought for a minute and said “it has expanded me. I cannot go back to my former size. It has also given me a greater passion to Love. Ordinarily I like keeping to myself and that made me wonder why God called me to do this when I would have preferred to stay in my church/little corner. I have had to go out of my normal temperament which is yet a proof that this call is divine”. In conclusion, she thanked God for her church family; her children and the biggest thank you went to her husband of 20 years whose regular encouragement and advise she would not have been able to do without. *THE TOTAL WOMAN 18TH CONFERENCE AND 10TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY HOLDS FROM THE 2ND TO THE 6TH OF JULY 2008. Hypertension how to avoid a common but misunderstood condition by Bolanle Idowu Hypertension is a common condition also known as high blood pressure; it is usually diagnosed when a patient’s blood pressure is higher than the universally accepted level. How do I know I have it? One of the most peculiar characteristic of this condition is that there are usually no known symptoms. This results in the disease often remaining under- diagnosed and undertreated, therefore the discovery of the disease is left to a large extent to routine checks at the GP or the hospital. Another major trait is that it is usually hereditary (i.e. runs in the family). Sometimes it presents itself with recurring headaches or eye problems; whereas in some instances it is presented only when complications such as a stroke, heart attack and kidney damage or failure have already set in as a result. If hypertension is part of your family history; especially if your mother, father or other siblings had it, and you are aged 35 and above, you should see your GP or nurse for a check up as soon as possible, with repeat checks needed every one to five years depending on circumstances. It usually takes about three readings, on different occasions, before diagnosis as blood pressure can fluctuate and rise temporarily.
Treatment Education about the condition is very important, lifestyle changes may be all that is needed in some cases. • • • • •
•
What causes it? In 95% of cases, there is no identifiable cause and this is known as essential hypertension. This can be associated with other health matters such as diabetes, kidney disease and indeed pregnancy; causing the need for people in these categories to be checked regularly. Other factors cause it as well. The use of steroids for instance can lead to an increase in one’s blood pressure, and the aging process can also induce hypertension. An unhealthy lifestyle does play a major role in increasing ones’ risk factor to the disease i.e. obesity, or a sedentary lifestyle with little or no exercise (couch potatoes). Statistically it has been recorded to be more common among black people (the Afro Caribbean community), although it affects all races.
•
Regular exercise –minimum 30mins at least 3 times a week Reduce salt intake Stop smoking Reduce caffeine Eat well – i.e. 5 portions of fruit and vegetables, avoid fat and frying, boil and steam food, eat only a small amount of red meat, try fish/chicken without the skin.etc Keep weight within acceptable limit for height i.e. maintain a BMI (Body Mass Index) of not more than 24 Stress management
In addition to the above, medication may be necessary and it must be taken every day without fail; until the doctor says otherwise. However, usually you may need to take it for life; type of medication depends on age, race and associated issues. In summary, Hypertension is a common condition that is easily diagnosed and treatable. However it can be avoided by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It must not be ignored as it can kill or cause other serious problems. YOUR CHILD’S EDUCATION...
Don’t leave it to chance!
What can be done? If suspected or diagnosed, your doctor will likely run some tests including an ECG which is a tracing of the heart to check if it is already suffering under the stress of the high blood pressure, Kidney function/scan, liver function, cholesterol screen for diabetes and more or less tests depending on the individuals’ history.
Build their confidence during the long summer break. Call Cornerstone Education Services today and learn how we can help to maximise your child’s potentials. Many other parents have!! Experienced tutors offer efficient, personal tuition service for all levels in English, Maths & Science.

MEETING KEN LIVINGSTONE The rapidly growing influence of the so called “Immigrant churches” on the socio-political terrain of the City of London, and in fact the UK, was further underlined on Tuesday the 8th of April 2008. The former Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone in the company of the Labour Party’s deputy Leader; Harriet Haman made an unprecedented visit to the Redeemed Christian Church of God, House of Praise Peckham towards the end of his tenure in office. This visit by the number one citizen of London at the time, to the church shows the recognition by the Government of the positive influence and the potential residing within the church. The event, which took place in the main auditorium of HOP Peckham, attracted members of the Press, church members and visitors from the community. Councillor Tayo Shittu, Chairman Peckham County Council; opened proceedings by introducing the Senior Pastor of the House Of Praise and the host of the event, Pastor Andrew Adeleke in the company of his wife Pastor (Mrs) ‘Yemi Adeleke. The former Mayor praised the church, stating how glad he was to be at the House of praise, and remembering how he was at the Festival Of Life (Excel Centre)in 2007, where fifty thousand people gathered together to pray all night and discuss how to achieve a better society. He then promised to look into ensuring faith groups like HOP in the city are granted funds to enable them to use their facilities for youth provision.
HOUSE OF PRAISE ORGANISED LEGAL CLINIC & EASTER The Membership care Department of HOP Charlton BOOT SALES last Easter organised a two-fold event encompassing a Legal clinic and a Boot Sales. The Legal clinic was organised along with the church’s Legal team who were represented by three solicitors educating participants on various issues covering immigration to crime. It was well attended. The Boot Sales was also a success, as various items donated by church members over several weeks were put on for sale.
HOUSE OF PRAISE SUPPORTED THE LONDON MARATHON
The House of Praise was represented at this year’s London Marathon. A team led by the community service team of the church was out evangelising during the marathon and also urging the athletes on.

Career Development
for the Total Woman by Ibukun Adebayo As a woman, despite the God-given ability to multi-skill, and juggle with equally conflicting priorities, the most important career goal we should aim to achieve is to be a ‘homemaker’ or ‘homebuilder’ Proverbs 14.1. However the reality of today, means many women now choose to endeavour to build a career outside of the home, combined with being a ‘homebuilder’? Once the choice has been made, we are equipped by God, to excel in both roles. This article, however, focuses on career-development outside the home. Jeremiah 1:5 indicates quite clearly that each of us were in God’s heartbeat before he’d even spent time crafting, moulding, and polishing us; whilst Deut 8:18 assures us that, during the time He was crafting us, he also invested in us the power i.e. vision, abilities, talents, strength, and wisdom to make wealth and build a successful career in the process. As Total Women, the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, combined with the investment God made in us before placing us in our mother’s womb, makes us prime candidates to succeed in our careers at home and in the marketplace once we choose to venture out there.

I often hear the question, how do I choose a career? I often reply, what peculiar talents and skills did God invest in you when He was preparing you for your mother’s womb? Are you great at maths, yet not so skilled in art; are you a fluent orator or even a great cook? All these skills have been invested in you to give you the opportunity to excel in the marketplace. Once you’ve identified your strengths and weaknesses, and identified a suitable career around these; the next step is to get a pen and paper and write a plan on how you’re going to get there, Hab. 2:2, i.e. a plan on who you need, what you need, the places you’re going to need to go to, and how you’re going to get there e.g. tutors, a mentor, money, books, college, university, targets and milestones – an endless list with a clear finishing post, i.e. your career goal. There’s nothing as self-motivating as writing a plan, and ticking off each target as you achieve this. Okay, the plan is clear on a piece of paper, stuck on visible places around the house to remind you of your career goals, now who is your mentor? Achievers never fail to seek counsel – James 1:5 clearly states what we should do if we need counsel in an area, i.e. ask God, ask that God-given mentor for advice, help, mentorship, i.e. don’t be mute on your vision. Now the hard work begins, it’s time to go out there and deliver the plan, i.e. acquire the necessary skills and qualifications to get you to fulfil your goals. Over to you now for the hard work! Once done, you’re nearly there, but what story does your CV tell about you. Alas, recruiters short-listing for a Project manager vacancy aren’t interested in the fact you’ve done copious amounts of filing in your previous roles, they’re looking for evidence you will be able to carry out a Project Manager’s role if they were to appoint you; so your CV should only contain bullet points of experience relevant to the role you are applying for. Returning to the UK in 1985, after 10 years out of the country, my first role was both an early morning, and full-time cleaner, trust me – this was never on my CV! Once your CV has been reviewed by your mentor or friends in the industry you’d like to work in, ‘practice interviews’ is next. If you can’t attend an Interview Skills workshop, sit in front of your mirror and practice posture, diction, and looking yourself in the eye when talking – a pet hate of interviewers is having a candidate looking down at their shoes for the duration of an interview! Final tip. If you’re not getting interviews, your CV is an issue; if you’re getting interviews but no job offers, you need help with your interview techniques. However, if you’re in the industry, and being headhunted frequently, thank God, you’re there and it’s time to be a Mentor to others !

praisereel A Woman with a
Transformed Heart by Faramade Bello Biblically, a transformed heart can be defined as a heart that has been renewed, revived and changed by the Holy Spirit. In the natural, it is generally accepted that the head, and brain contained therein, is the centre and director of human activity; but the bible speaks of the heart as the centre; Proverbs 4v23 “keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”. As women, we need to understand that our heart is the centre of the human will. If this is the case, our heart and mind must be constantly guided by the Holy Spirit through our walk with God via praying, meditating on God’s word daily, and relating to God every second of our lives. A closer look at Mary in Luke 10:v38-42, who sat at Jesus’ feet and earned his praise further, reveals the true meaning of a heart devoted to God. Jesus praised Mary Luke 10v42 “but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her” (KJV), thereby demonstrating that though active and practical service to God is essential and good, our first and most important task is love and devotion that expresses itself in quiet worship, prayer and fellowship with the Lord. Are you too busy doing the work of the lord, attending church services performing God’s work that you forget spiritual communion with our saviour?
www. wealthcreationresources .org
You may ask yourself as a woman, ‘how can I develop a heart devoted to God’? Commit yourself to God’s word – Proverbs 3:6 “in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path”. We are required to commune with God in our decisions, words, thoughts, and even responses to others. In choosing a life partner for example, choosing a career or job having children, raising children (biological or spiritual) running your home and caring for your loved ones, two-way communication with God is essential. Jeremiah 17 verse 7-8 emphasized thus “blessed is the man that trusteth in the lord and whose hope the Lord is.” For he shall be a tree planted by the waters, and the roots that spreadeth out her roots by the river...” (KJV). Developing a root system, anchored deep in God, has to be our absolute priority in life. Imagine yourself to be like a plant with its roots hidden solidly under the soil. You and I are to draw from him all we need to live the abundant life He has promised His children (John 10:10). We must live our life in God, hidden in Him as we seek a deeper life in Christ. What is your hearts’ response to this call? My dear sisters if you are unsure about where you stand with God, if you know quite clearly that you are living your life separated from God then confess your sins, invite Jesus to be your Saviour - 2 Corinthians 5:17. A simple prayer is enclosed below, to set you on your way. “God, I want to be your child; a true woman with a transformed heart, a heart that Jesus Christ lives in and dwells within. I acknowledge my sins and receive your son, Jesus Christ, in my life because He died for my sins. Thank you for giving me a new heart.”

THIS IS THE LORD’S DOING. JESUS IS THE RESTORER OF MY SOUL
After 10 years of being here, God granted me a safe journey to Nigeria and back. About a month before arriving in Nigeria, God had delivered my dad from a near fatal car accident, then on my first day there, as we were driving into our estate, the car started swerving and my dad almost lost control of the car. Apparently, someone had spilled diesel on the road and the tyres could not grip the road. We pleaded the blood of Jesus until we got to the other side of the road. The following week, a car hit my mum’s car from behind and she had whiplash. Thank God for His healing powers and protection. Following 6 weeks off recovering, she has now been able to return to work. Also, 3 weeks ago, as I was preparing to go out, I suddenly slipped and hit my head on the floor . I thank God I did not sustain any serious head, neck or back injury. Glory be to His name. Despite these trials and tribulations, God has restored my peace and renewed my strength. So for not sorrowing over any of my loved ones, for having a roof over my head, for a good job and for the privilege of calling God my father and friend, I SAY THANK YOU LORD!!!.
During choir practice last Friday, I was having difficulty with my breathing. I was also having chest pains. On my way home, walking towards the car, I felt dizzy and collapsed and was unconscious. I was taken back upstairs into the church, where the beloved prayed for me. Following various check ups in an ambulance, which were all fine, I was able to go home. I would like to thank God for not allowing evil to befall my family and the church. He took total control through the ordeal. He is indeed my present help in time of need.

UNQUESTIONABLE IS OUR GOD I thank God for a short, quick and easy delivery. I went to the hospital for a check up, and when I got there, I was told I was going to be monitored. While the baby was being monitored, they noticed his heart beat was irregular with contractions, over a period of time the situation was still the same and the gynaecologist came and told me that I needed to have an emergency C-Section in 5 minutes. On the theatre table, the anaesthetist could not find a good place in my spine to inject the Epidural. Just minutes later, I had the urge to push and the baby came out to their amazement. Glory be to God. I gave birth to a healthy son. Praise God. BANKE SODUNKE
DAY OF THE LORD’S GLORY We want to give all glory to God who set the date for our wedding and showed up mightily in ways beyond our imagination. He provided all the financial and hman resources that we required and surprised us where we least expected. Only God could have done this and we will be forever grateful. MR & MRS ABIOLA JIBODU
GOD IS A WONDER! Please join us in praising God for giving us a bouncing baby boy after 24 years of marriage. He has wiped our tears and given us victory at last. MR AND MRS OWOEYE
