Precedent Study

Within the centre, there consist of Day-care, Office, Counselling, Community, and recreation to serve foster care families and neighbourhood families.

LOBBY Multi-faceted public spaces in the building encourage a range of learning opportunities and social interaction.

DAY-CARE CLASSROOM Allow natural light fill the space. The main flooring appears to be polished concrete but changes within the Daycare Classrooms to saturated oranges & yellows and greens with linoleum flooring. The colours introduced in these areas differentiate the spaces while exuding an energy akin to young children

COMMUNITY ROOM The concrete wall also allowed for cantilevers, window overhangs and large window openings to let natural light fill the space. While a large community room on the second floor serves as classroom, exercise room, and meeting space.

ATRIUM Connecting the levels, a large structural stair serves as a mountain-like landscape for playing, climbing, performing, and hanging out, with a lobby at the top of the stair doubling as a computer lab.Their geometry and scale, intended to activate the space, acts as a giant threedimensional jungle gym for children to navigate.
