ART & ANTIQUES EVENTS The Urban Market Houston Antique Show returns Feb. 11-12, but has re- located to the Bayou City Event Center. Saturday features a special preview event that includes drinks and hors d'oeuvres from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets for the allday Sunday sale are just $5 (free for kids) with vendors open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market takes place at 9401 Knight Road, just south of Loop 610 near Almeda. Houston Antiques Dealers Association hosts its spring show March 2-4 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. America’s oldest association of antiques dealers (established in 1964), HADA continues its tradition that gives back to the Houston community, with a portion of the proceeds donated to area charities. ARCHITECTURE EVENTS Innovative and earth-minded builder Dan Phillips of The Phoenix Commotion gives the talk, "Beyond the Box" on Feb. 21 at Rico’s Grill in The Woodlands. The Phoenix Commotion is a building initiative created to prove that constructing homes with recycled and salvaged materials has a viable place in the building industry. The group’s projects in Huntsville are often wildly creative, unconventional houses for single parents, artists, and low-income families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to own a home.

The free event includes a networking session at 6 p.m., followed by the speaker at 7 p.m. Sponsors include The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N, USGBC Piney Woods, Northwoods Green, and the Houston Advanced Research Center. Downtown’s Architecture Center Houston (ArCH) features Houston 20/20 Visions: Ten Years to Clarity through Feb. 24. The exhibit depicts what Houstonians consider the most critical issues challenging our city today and their ideas to solve them. This exhibition coincides with the ongoing blog tenyearstoclarity.org, that presents these visions from Houston citizens. ArCH is located at 315 Capitol, Suite 120 on the corner of Bagby and Capitol. Plants profiled by the instructor will include several species appropriate for a hanging basket. Participants get to prepare and take home a hummingbird feeder hanging basket.
