At each of the structures, visitors are treated to a different type of familyfriendly entertainment including everything from storytellers and reenactors to local children's choirs. Additionally, The Heritage Society Museum Gallery features More than a Toy: Dolls from the Victorian Era exhibit. Children may also have their photo taken with Santa, play in the snow, enjoy a holiday story reading, and make crafts at Santa's Workshop. Houston-area gardeners can expect a wide variety of gardening classes and unique events every month at The Arbor Gate in Tomball. On Nov. 10, Susan Wood teaches Cool Weather Herbs and Easy Composting. This award-winning member of The Herb Society of America guides gardeners on which herbs to grow for winter and how to protect less hardy varieties from freeze damage. As a bonus, Susan will share secrets to improve your soil by turning kitchen scraps, leaves and grass clippings into compost or mulch. Anyone hosting holiday gatherings should consider attending Get a Jump on the Holidays with Chef Molly Fowler. This class is offered twice, Nov.12 and 15. Chef Molly demonstrates how to create fabulous gifts from your kitchen for the upcoming holidays, and demonstrate some easy and delicious appetizers and desserts.
