Life cycle Energy costs. Today and tomorrow.

The life cycle. Cost-effective from the start.

Hoval does everything to ensure consistently cost-effective operation. Efficiency is the key. With cutting-edge developments, Hoval ensures that its products are among the most efficient of their kind. Over the years, this will not only save a considerable amount of money but it also spares resource and lowers CO2 emissions. These savings mean that possibly higher investment costs are amortised within just a short period.

Planning costs: Professional planning takes savings potentials into account. It sizes the performance of a system to the actual requirements and is therefore the foundation for long-term economical operation.

Operating costs: Power-saving 足technology and high efficiency levels ensure cost-effective operation. In light of rising energy prices, this results in a significant savings potential.

Procurement costs: A complete system encompasses all relevant components from the start. This avoids unwelcome, costly surprises concealed behind the initial investment.

Service costs: Products that are 足inherently less susceptible to repairs and malfunctions generate lower service costs. Maintenance agreements 足additionally help spare the wallet and soothe the nerves.

Installation costs: Ready-to-connect units simplify and accelerate the installation procedure on-site. In addition, if installation is performed by specialists, the costs remain manageable and low.

Disposal costs: Delayed disposal costs for heating and indoor climate units improve the cost/benefit ratio. In addition, environmentally compatible materials make recycling easier.

Uno-3. Oil/Gas low temperature boiler with from 50 to 360 kW High-efficiency thermal insulation 130 mm

Double hinge door simplifies servicing.

80 mm mineral fibre mats with woven surface reinforcement as insulation for the boiler body. Intermediate mats as convection block. 50 mm mineral fibre mats as additional chassis insulation. Front section with 30 mm and flue gas collector with 20 mm mineral fibre mats.

Servicing the Hoval Uno-3’s combustion components is made significantly easier thanks to the ingenious double hinge swing door. The boiler door swings forwards together with the burner. This is even possible with long and bulky burner heads. Thus the service technician has access to the combustion chamber and to the burner head easily and in just a few seconds. Laborious and time-consuming deinstallation of the burner is unnecessary. The direction in which the double hinge door swings out can be chosen at will and changed easily and quickly.

Dry flue gas collector The flue gas collector is not water-cooled, thus preventing the build-up of hazardous condensate and consequent corrosion damage.

The thermolytic heating surface – a Hoval innovation. If soot collects on the heating surfaces the energy transfer is impaired, resulting in increased fuel consumption and harmful emissions. This problem occurs frequently with conventional heating surfaces. On the Uno-3, however, no soot can collect on the heating surfaces: Thanks to the special ribbed structure deposits become thermally decomposed. On account of the selfcleaning effect of the patented, thermolytic heating surfaces the Uno-3 achieves an almost constant, high efficiency rating – even after a long period of service.

Max-3. 3-pass oil/gas heating boiler from 192 to 3000 kW Dimpled tubes – Hoval’s patented development for constant high efficiency. The efficiency of the Hoval Max-3 is a result of the design of the Hoval patented heating surfaces. The unique design of the dimpled tubes allows a guaranteed and permanent turbulence of the flue gases. This results in an optimized heat transfer and keeps the combustion efficiency constantly high. The special feature of the third flue gas pass heating surface design brings an additional benefit: If boilers are used with low burner load the flue gases are still passing evenly though the heating surfaces. Thanks to the smooth inner surface of the dimpled tubes and their shape no additional turbulators are necessary and therefore no deposits of aggressive dirt are possible. A constant high efficiency is achieved and in addition the danger of corrosion is highly reduced.

Insulated swiveling front door for easy cleaning and quick access to the combustion chamber. Optionally with heat- and sound-insulation cover.

Highly efficient thermal insulation

without turbulators reduces the flue gas losses and enables quick and easy cleaning to maintain economical operation.

with aluminium cladding effectively reduces standing losses to a minimum and contributes to economical viability.

Free choice of burners The boiler is also optimally suited for Low NOx burners due to the combustion chamber geometry and the low heat release rate.

The three pass design enhances low-emission operation with low NOx output. The flue gases flow to the heat transfer tube surfaces positioned concentrically around the combustion chamber through a cylindrical combustion chamber (first pass). The second and third passes consist of smooth tubes. The re-direction of the flue gases takes place in the generously dimensioned reversal chamber.

One for all. In-roof, on-roof and flat roof installation.

One installation concept for all UltraSol types and all installation methods

Today's solar collectors can be interesting architectural features and add visual appeal to the look of a building. They can be found not only on the roofs of houses, but also on porch roofs, garage roofs, in gardens and on patios. The two collector types in the UltraSol range can accommodate all these options. No matter the space required or how the system needs to be positioned, flexible and rapid installation is guaranteed thanks to the standardised Hoval installation concept. The multifunctional and flexible collector product range offers all mounting variants.

The installation concept for the UltraSol collectors is as simple as it is ingenious. It is based on a flexible framework with special aluminium holding tube profiles. The concept is available for all on-roof, flat-roof and free-standing installations. Once the basic framework is stable, final assembly of the collectors is performed with ease using plug-in connections. The only tool that is needed is an Allen key to fasten the clamping elements.

Coated antireflective solar glass

A design to suit your needs

Selecting the coating for the solar glass not only meant considering its visual effect and ensuring limited glare; above all else, it was also necessary to select a coating that would maximise solar yield. The antireflective coating on the UltraSol collector reflects less incidental sunlight, allowing it to use and store more heat.

If requested, Hoval is able to help design the entire solar energy system. This includes the quantity and orientation of the collectors, the sets of solar fittings, the buffer storage tanks, the additional heat generators for months when it is less sunny, and the control unit.

Both UltraSol collectors easily meet annual minimum yield requirements for collectors (525 kWh/m2) and have been granted Solar Keymark certification.

As a complete provider, Hoval ensures that all system components are perfectly coordinated with one another, which not only makes them easier to use, but also enhances the system's efficiency.

The cell principle: Central to Hoval Modul-plus are the integrated high grade steel heating cylinders. The water content of each modular unit is 115 l and 1.42 m2 of heating surface ensures an efficient heat transfer for each cylinder. The large storage capacity guarantees an extra-ordinary high 10-minute output and the generous heating surface provides an enormous constant output.

Maximal output on minimal space

The Hoval Modul-plus amazes not only with its enormous output capability but also with its modest space requirements. It requires distinctly less space than conventional calorifiers due to its high flow output. Since the calorifier can be placed directly next to the boiler with closely coupled pipe work. This reduces the installation and maintenance costs.

For many years, Hoval has been implementing its climate solutions on the basis of distributed systems. They consist of combinations of multiple – and often different – indoor climate units that are separately regulated but jointly controlled. This allows Hoval to respond flexibly to different requirements and to offer complete heating, cooling and ventilation solutions.

Warm air is loaded with energy – energy that the well-tried plate heat exchangers from Hoval transport directly from the warm, used air flowing out of buildings to the cool, clean supply air. Rotary heat exchangers are even capable of recovering the humidity contained in the air to prevent the interior climate from drying out.

High-efficiency heat recovery RoofVent® units incorporate plate heat exchanger that recover energy from the extract air and transmit it to the supply air. Certain unit types are even equipped with a twin heat exchanger achieving heat recovery efficiencies of up to 84 % and thus allowing massive energy savings.

Maintenance-free fans Ventilation The unit blows fresh air into the interior and extracts used interior air. The heater and energy recovery are controlled in accordance with the heat demand. Recirculation If fresh air is not required, heating takes place in recirculation mode to save costs and energy (for example, at night or when preheating in the morning).

The central element of the indoor climate systems from Hoval is the patented vortex air distributor, the so-called Air-Injector. It is so efficient that, compared to other systems, it requires a 25 - 30 % smaller air flow rate to achieve the desired conditions. This saves costs in many ways: ▪▪ Units with a lower air flow rate can be used, saving investment costs. ▪▪ Less air needs to be moved, which saves operating power. ▪▪ The ventilation heat requirement sinks, which in turn reduces o perating costs.

Tailored solution for any large space Different unit sizes and coil types, two-speed fans as well as a whole string of accessories provide a tailored solution for any large space. In addition to coils for connection to a boiler system or to a water chiller special batteries (steam, electric heating coils) are also available.

Ready to plug in The units are delivered ready to plug in, making them rapid and easy to install. Their installation under the ceiling or in the roof also saves valuable usable space in interiors.

Air-Injector The Air-Injector ensures an optimal air distribution under fluctuating operating conditions and prevents draughts in the occupied area. It is suitable for mounting heights of 4 – 25 m. Depending on the temperature difference between the supply air and interior air and on the air flow rate, the unit adjusts the blowing angle of the air continuously between vertical and horizontal. The units can be adapted to changing conditions automatically or by hand using a potentiometer.

Technical data Heating operation: The supply air is warmer and thus lighter than the interior air. The vertical inflow of air ensures that the heat reaches the areas where it is needed.

Cooling operation: The inflowing air is colder than the interior air and sinks. To avoid draughts, it is injected horizontally.

Modulating gas burner TopVent® gas units are equipped with a modulating gas burner so that the heat energy can be produced specifically where it is needed. The heat is fed as directly and lossfree as possible into the hall. No lines from the heat generator to the heat consumer compromise the effectiveness. The gas-fired system requires neither a heating room nor a hot water distribution network. Modern combustion technology also increases the economy and environmental efficiency.

Air-Injector The patented air distributor guarantees you a uniquely high degree of efficiency for heat distribution and palpable comfort advantages. Thanks to the automatically adjustable guide vanes, the exhaust angle of the warm air can be set precisely to the room and temperature conditions. Thus, temperature layering in the room is reduced efficiently. The result is a larger heated area per unit, lower energy costs and completely draught-free heat distribution.

The broad model range permits planning to size – precisely attuned to the room circumstances and requirements. For instance, the roof-mounted unit TopVent® commercial GA is quickly and easily installed in the roof with its corresponding frame. The ducts for the combustion supply air and extract air are already integrated in this unit; a separate roof opening is not needed. Because of the roof installation, this TopVent® unit does not protrude far into the interior. Depending on requirements, it operates in fresh air, mixed air or recirculation mode.

Plate heat exchangers. Cross-flow plate heat exchangers from Hoval are the only ones of their type to yield a dry heat recovery efficiency of more than 80 %. What makes them the preferred choice compared to counterflow exchangers with similar efficiencies: The cube shape of the Hoval exchanger makes it more compact – this saves space and thus costs in the air handling unit.

Recirculation Bypass Option

Edge Profile Sealing

With the exchanger recirculation bypass option the AHU recirculation mixing box is not required with resulting cost savings.

The edges of the exchanger profiles are sealed with a flexible sealing compound providing an airtight seal.

Plate Crimping The plates are sealed with a double sheet metal fold ensuring good exchanger rigidity and minimizing leakage.

Stainless Steel Exchanger Option There are a wide range of options including stainless steel for special applications including extremely corrosive environments.

Special Plate Profile The plate surface profile has been designed and extensively tested to provide maximum efficiency and stability with minimal pressure loss.

Rotary heat exchangers. The patented, automatic readjusting slide sealing in Hoval rotary heat exchangers permanently reduces leakage compared to conventional systems by up to 70 %. And since Hoval is the only manufacturer to provide a selection program with calculation of the leakage number air handling units and process plants can be sized smaller: This saves costs and energy.

Peripheral slide seal

Adjustable purge sector

Constant-force springs permanently press the abrasion-resistant ring seal against the casing. This system (patent pending) minimises leakage and allows the ventilation unit to be sized for smaller air flow rates.

The size of the purge sector can be adjusted to suit requirements. The device (patent pending) prevents contamination of the supply air by the extract air and the same time minimises purge and energy loss.

Storage mass Drive motor The 3-phase gear motor with belt pulley and v-belt is installed on a rocker in the corner of the casing. The speed rotation is infinitely adjustable.

Hoval supplies the storage mass in three types of material: for condensation, enthalpy and sorption wheels. The sorption coating guarantees a consistently high degree of moisture recovery efficiency, even under summer condition. Key characteristics Diameters (one piece)
