PLEASURE What is Pleasure Party Magic? Pleasure Party Magic is whatever you do to make your parties unique and fun and possibly more profitable. It’s the small things you do and the bigger things you do that make your parties unique to your company – it’s what sets you apart from other pleasure party plans and keeps your customers booking with you on a regular basis. This ‘magic’ starts from advertising/promoting for your company and continues through following up after a party. Here are a few things you can do to enhance your ‘magic’ throughout the process:
Advertising & Promotion Have a professionally created logo Your logo is your calling card. It’s the first impression of your company. Create a logo that gives potential bookers a good idea of who you are. The colors you select are the colors that you’ll use for everything you produce for your company going forward, so choose colors wisely. Develop a tag line or motto A tag line (service mark) or motto tells potential customers more about who you are, what you stand for and most importantly, what you want your customers to feel when they purchase from you. Use appropriate attention-grabbing phrases If you promote your parties as a fun ‘girl’s night in’, work this phrasing into your advertising/promotional materials in some way. It’s another way to entice people to book with you.

PARTY MAGIC! By Kimara P. Bellner Sending Invitations & Pre-Party Communications Invest in custom invitations Custom invitations that utilize your logo, company colors and company tag line can be the most effective for introducing your party plan to your hostesses’ guests. This invitation can make the hostess feel special in that she is confident that she’s booked with a professional pleasure party company – not just someone that does “those parties”. Follow up with hostesses once invitations are sent. Contact your hostesses before the party date. You can do any or all of the following in this pre-party communication: ● Make sure guests are confirming their attendance ● Ask the hostess if she has any questions or concerns or special requests regarding product that you’re going to demonstrate ● Send catalogs and information about any party specials, special discounts or sales that will be offered during her party ● Create anticipation with the hostess about products she can earn by having a party with high sales Taking these steps can create anticipation and excitement in the hostess and her guest…more magic!
During the Pleasure Party Customize your apparel – wear a badge, company colors or embroidered company shirt Wearing a “uniform” polishes your appearance and the reputation of your company. If you have reps/consultants, they should wear this uniform as well. Use a ‘wish list’ or product check off sheet Distribute a ‘wish list’ to each guests so she can keep track of the products she’s interested in purchasing. This saves time once purchasing has begun.
Decorate your demo table Make your product demo table as attractive as possible: ●Use tablecloths in your company colors or custom tablecloths embossed with your logo ●Use different heights when displaying products, this adds interest for the eye Don’t place every product flat on the table. Many manufacturers have stands or holders for their products – consult your distributor ●Use crystals, glass bowls, or special containers to hold different products Home Party Review
● Create product vignettes on your display table ● Use props during your presentation ● Props can make your pleasure party feel and look very polished and professional. ● Use an item that one pleasure party newbie must wear or hold during the entire presentation (a dildo plush, a feather boa, a special hat) ● Utilize vagina puppets or detailed drawings when discussing clitoral stimulation to give a visual example to guests ● Play adult games during the presentation ● There are a million games that can be played during the pleasure party. Many games are specific to pleasure parties and some are regular parlor games that have been modified to have a more adult feel. Games are a good way of breaking the ice at the beginning of a party to loosen up guests and get them in the right frame of mind for your presentation. Games also serve as a good divider between product categories or just a good quick break in the presentation. ● Create a standard ‘ice breaker’ game that is completed before the presentation starts ● Think of a game that can impart light sex education while having fun ● Use props during games ● Make the games as fun as possible ● Try to involve all of the guests (or as many as possible) ● Have small, inexpensive prizes for the winner of each game ● Make sure the games you play don’t make guests feel uncomfortable (over sexualized) ● Be very familiar with the products you’re demonstrating This is part of your ‘magic’. You are the first source of product information for your customers. You should be able to provide an adequate description of any product you’re demonstrating. This includes: ● Product’s material composition (silicone, TPR, Cyberskin, etc.) ● Waterproof or splashproof ● Rechargeable or battery operated ● Color options ● Lubricant is water-based, silicone, hybrid, flavored, warming, etc. ● Available in different lengths – 6 inch, 9 inch, 12 inch ● Make sure every item on your demonstration table is operable. ● Be sure to keep fresh batteries on hand so all of your toys will provide peak performance. Older batteries may allow the toy to operate but it may not vibrate as powerfully as it would if fresh batteries are used. ● Make sure all of the rechargeable items have been fully charged

Pompoir, also known as ‘playing the flute” or the “Singapore Grip”, is a sexual technique which involves the woman using her vaginal muscles to stimulate the man’s penis. Some consider pompoir to be part of the Tantra practice, others consider it to be a sexual skill based on Tantra practice.
How It Works/Step-by-Step: Both the man & the woman remain still, the man does not thrust. The woman inserts the man’s erect penis into her vagina. Gripping the man’s penis, the woman strokes the man’s erect penis with pulsing, candenced, rippling movements of the PC (pubococcygeus) muscle. This technique is most effective with the woman on top. 1. Start by having your partner lie down on his back. 2. If he is not erect, stimulate him until he becomes erect then insert his penis into your vagina.

3. He should not thrust or move his penis in any way, he should be as still as possible. 4. Although you don’t want your partner to thrust or move during this session, the two of you can kiss & fondle one another; only he should not move his body at all. 5. Once he’s in you, you should either be straddling him or sitting on his lap. Do not move your pelvis, your only movement should come from using the pompoir technique (using the PC muscles). 6. Contract & flex your PC muscles in varying patterns until you feel his erect penis throbbing. This should occur 10-15 minutes into the session. 7. Pay attention to the rhythm with which his penis is throbbing & time your flexing to his throbbing. As he gets closer to ejaculating, flex, squeeze & release your muscles as fast as you can. 8. Keep flexing, squeezing, & releasing as he orgasms; this will make him feel as if the ejaculate is being drawn from his body. 9. After his orgasm is completed, continue to squeeze, flex & release your PC muscles until you orgasm. If necessary, add clitoral stimulation. Exercises You Can Do To Increase Your Skill in Pompoir Performing Kegel exercises can help to increase your skill in pompoir however, pompoir is not a Kegel exercise. Kegels help to strengthen the muscles necessary to grab, squeeze, & flex your partner’s penis. This also allows you to learn your PC muscles & know how to identify & isolate specific muscles, contracting them individually as desired to create

rippling effects & sensations on your partner. In order to practice pompoir, your PC and pelvic floor muscles must be consistently exercised to improve their strength and performance. Find your PC muscles by inserting a finger into your vagina & trying to squeeze your finger. Make sure you’re not also contracting or squeezing your thighs, buttocks, or anal muscles. Once you’ve located your PC muscles, try these exercises (by Jennifer Lawless): 1) The short squeeze. Contract the PC muscles 10 times at approximately one squeeze per second. Inhale gently as you contract and exhale when you release. Start with two sets of 10. Gradually build up to two sets of 50 a day. 2) The long squeeze. Hold the muscle contraction for a count of three. Relax between contractions. Work up to holding for 10 seconds and relaxing for 10 seconds. Start with two sets of 10 each and gradually build up to two sets of 50. 3) Pull-in, push-out. Pull up the entire pelvic floor as though trying to suck water into the vagina, and then push out or bear down as if trying to push the water out. This exercise uses the abdominal muscles as well as the PC muscles. Do this five times in a row. Build up to 10 sets. 4) The elevator. Imagine that there’s an elevator in your pelvic region and that you want to raise it up floor by floor. Sex Education continued on page 15

Starting at the ground floor, go up to the first floor, then up the second floor, and last, to the third floor. Then gradually allow the “elevator” to go back down, stopping at each floor. Once you get to the ground floor, completely relax the muscles you’ve just exercised. Start with one set of 10 repetitions and build up to five sets of 10. You can break up your exercises and do them in two or more sessions daily (in fact, I would recommend it) and still get the same benefits as long as you complete the total number of repetitions. Vary your
position from standing, to sitting, to kneeling, to sitting in order to completely exercise the pelvic floor muscles. As you get better at these exercises & train & strengthen the muscles, you will notice that you are able to isolate groups of muscles in your pelvic floor. Pleasure Party Magic! Post Presentation After you’ve completed the presentation, it’s time for purchasing. Here are some party plan magic tips: ● Set up a separate area for purchasing – this gives customers privacy and freedom to purchase what they’d like without the potential of judging eyes ● Always have sufficient change on hand (bills and coins) ● Give attention to how your products are packaged for customers – use nice bags (you can order personalized or specifically colored bags or boxes) ● Include a pre-printed thank you card in every bag (it should include your contact number, website address and social media address) ● Always attempt a cross sell each customer (bought a vibe, suggest a lube) ● Once the customer has told you everything she wants to order, always ask if there is anything else she needs (you might sell an extra item or two) ● Always give appropriate delivery times for items ordered – if an item will actually take 3 business days for you to receive, give yourself a cushion with the customer and tell them to expect delivery in 7-10 business days ● Once all purchasing is completed, sit down with your hostess and let her know what she’s earned based on her sales – be excited in your delivery regardless of how big or small the total is ● Thank your hostess and all of the guests for attending and participating
After The Party Following up with a hostess is an extremely important step in setting the stage for a repeat booking somewhere down the road. ● Notify customers when orders have shipped – this can be done via text or email or if you drop ship, check the status and notify your customer ● Contact the hostess a week or two after the party – thank her for booking, let her know you enjoyed her and her guests and you had a good time ● Confirm that all guests have received their orders (if possible) ● Answer any questions she may have about her party or anything she ordered ● Let her know that she is being added to your hostess directory ● If you have an established communications method for following up with past hostesses on a periodic basis, make sure she’s added to it (quarterly text blasts, email blasts, auto mailers, etc.) Remember that whatever you do to make your pleasure party company stand out, that’s your Pleasure Party Magic! So think outside the box, go big and incorporate things that will make your hostesses and guests remember you and your company and more importantly, things that will make them want to keep booking with you and refer you to their friends. Pump Up The Party is designed to provide you, the party plan owner, with ideas, tips, tricks, & inspiration to enhance your pleasure party presentation. This column will provide information about different aspects of conducting a pleasure party.
1. Keep an eye out for good sale prices offered by your distributor(s), usually percentage off sales up to 30%-40%. You can purchase at the discounted prices then offer those items at discounted sale prices to your customers. This is a great way to have occasional sales without cutting into your profit. 2. Build a directory of the names and contact information of all previous hostesses. This information can be used at a later time to advertise or seek new bookings. 3. Increase the value of your bundles by adding discount and dollar store finds to them. Bath scrunchies, inexpensive votive or scented candles, small bottles of bubble bath and other bathing products, can really make a bundled package look extravagant…and you can charge more for it! 4. Consider partnering with a brick and mortar adult novelty store in your area to host in-store parties, seminars or workshops. These parties can be equally lucrative for you and the store owner. You may offer some products that the store owner does not or vice versa. Done correctly, with full communication and cooperation, this can be a very profitable partnership. 5. Be certain to stay on top of the current sales tax laws (when to submit paperwork & payments) in your area. Stay abreast of any new state or federal tax rules, allowable deductions, etc. You can save yourself countless hours of work and money by keeping current. 6. Once or twice a year, empty your demo kit and re-evaluate your product offerings. Once you’ve finished, it you decided to eliminate any products, put them on sale at a discounted rate to get rid of them and still make a little money. If you’ve taken good care of your demo items they can be re-sold. If you have inventory that includes items you’re eliminating, put the inventory on sale as well. 7. Maintain your business relationships by making occasional phone calls, sending email messages or making social media connections. The connections you make are invaluable to you. If you’ve taken time to get to know some of your colleagues, grow the relationship by maintaining regular communications.

Have a question about party plans? Ask the Pleasure Principals. The Pleasure Principals are a group of expert sex educators who are knowledgeable about the operations of home pleasure party plans. I’m in need of a way to get my bookings going this year. I’m starting slowly. Do you have any tips/suggestions I can use? Just try picking out one or two to try. Doing too many at the same time may be hazardous to your health! 1. Pick up the phone: ● 5-10 connected calls might feel like a million right now. Connect with just one person a day. ● Ask them how the products they purchased from you are working out and see how you can be of service to them this year. ● Would they like to host a party at ANY time this year? If so, what month were they thinking about and get permission to call them the month before to set up a date. ● Has their situation changed, and is this the year they might consider joining you in the business (remember, the answer is automatically, NO, if you don't ask). ● Calling and connecting with just one person will feel so good, you will want to do the same thing again tomorrow! 2. You never say “no” to yourself, so schedule 2 dates (in close proximity to one another) at your home. Ask customers WHICH date they will be able to attend (vs. IF they can come!) Here are some theme ideas to try: ● ● ● ● ●
Mystery Hostess (one lucky guest in attendance gets her name drawn from a hat and receives all the hostess gifts) Guinea Pig party (“come be my guinea pig; I'm trying out a new presentation and I'd love for you to come and tell me what you think”) Margarita party - Mom's night out fiesta…Margarita's and nachos! Preferred customer “sneak preview” of new or sale products. Product focus - a presentation that concentrates on just one area of your product line.
Having something new to chat with your customers about pumps you up and gives you a REASON to get on the phone. The ACTION of getting on the phone will result in sales. Remember, incentive trips and annual company promotions are not missed in the 4th quarter of the year, they are missed by what wasn't done in the 1st quarter! Do you think a product shouldn’t be promoted/sold unless I’ve tested/sampled it? No. Products can be promoted without being sampled. It’s not reasonable or realistic to think you should be required to test every product that you carry. Your product line may be extensive – anywhere from 50-500 products. And, in our industry, we have access to more than 20,000 products. There’s no way you could realistically sample everything you carry. You most likely have sampled a good number of your product offerings and you can provide a personal testimony about the performance of those products. In other situations you may have regular customers who use a product(s) on a regular basis, she/he can provide testimonials about the products. My demo kit is limited on space so I can only carry one type of lube (not brand, formula). What do you suggest? I suggest carrying a water-based lubricant. Water-based lubricants are latex and silicone compatible and body safe (if made without glycerin) so this makes them the best choice. I have a rotation of products that I add to my demo kit depending on the make up of my audience. Should I make sure I include all types of toys regardless of my audience? In general, I would say yes. Yes, you should include a variety of toys – multi-function vibes, g-spotters, p-spotters, anal, c-rings, etc. – regardless of your audience. However, the best rule to follow is checking with your hostess and completing some fact finding to determine if her/his party is going to be all female, all male, co-ed, couples only, a mix of couples & singles, straight only, gay only, LGBTQ and so on. Find out if her/his guests have a particular preference in regard to products or things that the hostess just doesn’t want to presented. Based on what your hostess tell you, you should fill your demo kit accordingly. Always be prepared. This doesn’t happen often but when a customer has purchased a vibe from me and they’ve broken/worn out it out, they expect me to help with the warranty. Not all manufacturers offer warranties on their products. Some offer them for a select group of products. Some offer 30 or 90 day warranties and some offer 1 year or 10 year warranties – it depends on the manufacturer. When your customers purchase vibes/products from you, advise them to go to the manufacturer’s website to register their products so they can redeem the warranty if necessary. Warranties are redeemed through the manufacturer not through the seller or the distributor. I keep booking with a hostess every year – two to three times a year. Each of her parties is never very profitable. How long should I continue to book with this hostess? She’s never been a profitable booking for me and I’d rather not book with her anymore. You should stop booking with her when you’ve decided you’re done booking with her. Before you stop booking with her though, you may want to do some tweaking to determine if you’re providing follow through with her from the moment she books up until (and of course after) her party date. Are you contacting her before her date to make sure she’s inviting plenty of guests? Are you providing her with catalogs, flyers, social media posts, text blasts, etc., to make sure her customers are given information to ‘get excited’ about coming to her party and purchasing? Are you sure she understands you do pleasure parties as a living and not for fun or a hobby? Sometimes people get the impression that we’re simply having fun, not working – this is work. Are you creating specials, unique bundles, or product promotions that you share with the hostess and her guests to give them ideas about what you’ll have on hand to purchase? Do you provide light sex education during your presentations? Before you stop booking with her, make sure you can answer ‘yes’ to at least 3 of the 5 questions.
