Deacon Dennis Jerome Hill was born on July 14�� 1952 in Jackson MI, to Willie E. and Lonnie Hill. Reared by his grandmother, Gracie White, Deacon Hill professed belief in Jesus Christ at an early age. In his later adult years he moved to Houston TX, where he established his membership at Liberty Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Samuel C. Ammons. He was a faithful deacon and manager of the church media department for over 30 years. It was here where he met and married his wife Delcenia M. Thomas of 22 years. Deacon Hill was a dedicated grade-school teacher with the Houston Independent School District where he greatly impacted the lives of children for over 30 years. He taught wood shop and mechanics. He and his wife were employed as educators in Houston TX, and were well-known to be committed servants to the church body. The two of them brought to life the vision of many church celebrations and theatrical productions. In 2006 they were called to serve Pastor Ralph Walton of Philadelphia Church. Here is where Deacon Hill completed his service to the church. Deacon Hill is remembered for his kindred spirit, child-like humor, keen memory of scripture and spiritual insight. He was a faithful deacon and great help to the pastors that he served. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Gracie White, parents Willie and Lonnie Hill, his mother-in-law, Amanda Thomas, his brother, Wille E. Hill Jr., and his sister Linda Hill. He is survived by his wife Delcenia M. Hill, two siblings, Toni Atkins, and Bernadine Hill, a host of extended family members, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, church family and friends in the community.
