Talking trash HRCA partners with Pro Disposal to bring a preferred-provider opt-in trash program in Highlands Ranch. The goal is to provide valuable service at a lower cost while championing environmental stewardship and sustainability. The home owners benefit from this program because they receive significant savings and are provided free recycling pickup while limiting the number of trucks on our streets each day. Jump on board with Pro Disposal and be a part of our community's green initiatives. Call 303-791-3827 for more information and prices or visit our web site at www.HRCAonline.org/Trash.

Erin go Bragh! Those words will certainly be shared with the crowd at this year’s St. Patrick’s Day 5K run on March 16. In addition to St. Patrick’s Day, there is also a Comedy Night, Spring Craft Bazaar and Princess Tea Party happening this month. We may also be seeing greener vegetation by now, so take a moment to see if Mother Nature has created any home improvement projects for you before we get too much further along into the season.
We want to hear from you: The HRCA will be conducting a Capital Improvement Survey of our members who frequent our Recreation Centers. The survey will be available at the access desks during the month of March at each of our Recreation Centers. Please help us with suggestions for enhancing our existing facilities as well as ideas for future capital improvement projects that can benefit the entire community. This can include features, amenities, etc. that we presently don’t provide. The data gathered from the surveys will help us plan workable and cost-effective capital projects for future years. So please take some time to make a difference in our facility’s future! Election: March is the month for our Board of Director’s Election. This year two seats are open. The deadline to submit applications to run for those seats was January 25. This year we have three applicants: Jim Allen, Dan DeBacco, and Brock Norris. Their service to the community is much appreciated and we look forward to another two years of working with the winners to make Highlands Ranch an even better place to live, work and play! The election will take place on March 19 at the Delegate meeting held in the Eastridge Community Room.
Volunteers Needed to Serve as Delegates: The next election will be held on April 23 to fill vacant and odd numbered delegate districts. There are several vacancies this year and we are looking for volunteers to serve. The Delegates meet monthly to get updates about community events and projects. They vote on several issues such as the Bylaws and the annual Budget and they also elect the Board of Directors. Becoming a Delegate is a great way to be involved with the community and get to know other homeowners. Delegates are essential members of our governance body. Please contact annie.vincent@hrcaonline.org for more information. Northridge Tennis Lighting: We are excited to share that the Northridge Tennis Pavilion lighting has been completely updated. The average brightness of the lighting is 2.5 times better than the old lighting overall and 3.0 times brighter at the baseline where players serve the ball. All the new LED fixtures shine upward, and it is now a much improved experience for all tennis players who use the indoor facility. Volunteer Spotlight: Our March Volunteer of the Month is Lindsay B. Lindsay is 18 years old and in the 12th grade. She has been volunteering with Therapeutic Recreation for four years and helps with hip hop and other programs. She loves volunteering because of all the amazing people she gets to work with. Tuesday night hip hop class is the highlight of her week. She says of the dancers, "I admire their character, kindness, and refusal to give up." Advice to new volunteers? Lindsay says, "Don't be intimidated and dive straight in. It can be scary, but a smile and a nice hello is a great way to start." Thank you, Lindsay, for all you do!
Community News HRCA Approval of Spring Projects As the weather warms up, residents may be making plans for home improvement projects, either in landscaping or on the home itself. Make sure you keep your property compliant with HRCA guidelines by properly submitting your landscaping or home improvement project for HRCA approval through the Community Improvement Services Department. What kinds of projects need HRCA approval? A good rule to go by is to ask yourself, “Does this project change the appearance of my property in any way?” If the answer is yes, then you should submit the project for approval. Examples of projects that need approval are painting, replacing windows or doors, roofing, installing or changing decks, patios, fences, retaining walls or walkways, etc. If you are unsure whether your project requires approval, call the CIS Department at 303-471-8821, we are happy to help! You may submit your project in person in the Administrative Offices at the Eastridge Recreation Center, or visit us online at www.HRCAonline.org/Covenants.
