Snow Removal Guidelines With winter well underway, please take a few moments to learn more about snow operations in Highlands Ranch. As a resident, snow is sure to come and we want you to be prepared, and know who does what in the community as far as snow removal. Douglas County is responsible for snow removal on all public streets, not private streets, in Highlands Ranch. Trails and sidewalks along major arterials or streets are the responsibility of the Highlands Ranch Metro District. HRCA removes snow only from its property on which the four Recreation Centers sit. Homeowners are responsible for snow removal on their own sidewalks and driveways. Douglas County has an ordinance that requires homeowners to remove snow from their sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of the snow storm. To report a resident to Douglas County that has not shoveled within 24 hours, call 303-660-7480. If you have any questions, go to www.HRCAonline.org and click on Latest News to learn what organization is responsible for snow removal in your neighborhood.
HRCA Elections quickly approaching Highlands Ranch has all the amenities of a town, but its governance is completely unique. Highlands Ranch is a master-planned community, with HRCA providing community leadership, first-class recreational facilities, events, architectural control, and covenant enforcement. HRCA also owns and manages the Backcountry Wilderness Area. The community’s municipal services, parks, and trails are handled by Highlands Ranch Metro District, while water and sanitation services are through Centennial Water and Sanitation District. HRCA is governed by a five-member board who are elected by our community's District Delegates. Delegates make recommendations to the Board of Directors on various matters outlined in the Community Declaration. The Board of Directors, (continued on page 3)

Property owners are required to keep their fences properly maintained, and if street facing, fences are now required to be stained with the “Highlands Ranch Fence Brown” stain color. The approved stain can be purchased at all local paint vendor locations. Additionally, HRCA has coordinated a reduced continued on page 3.

Happy February everyone! I hope you are settling into the new year and gearing up to live well in the month of February. This month we celebrate Ground Hog’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and Heart Disease Awareness Month. For all of these events, I wish you an early spring, lots of fun with your loved ones, and most importantly good health for all.
BE PATIENT: With many New Years resolutions to be healthier, we continue to see increased attendance in our facilities. With that in mind please be patient with each other as some people are just learning equipment and perhaps are not as skilled as our "regular" attendees. Be thoughtful when using machines and equipment, follow the rules that apply to the workout areas and machines. Nobody likes a machine hog or someone who doesn't clean up after themselves! Try to help others that you know need assistance. Do something nice for someone else, pay it forward.
SNOW REMOVAL: Mother Nature is always full of surprises, and spring weather will certainly bring more snow storms. As a reminder, all homeowners should clear the sidewalks in front of their homes within 24 hours after a storm. Remember, Douglas County enforces this ordinance, so we encourage you to please abide by this as it promotes the safety of children and pedestrians.
WHAT’S TO DO: There are plenty of events to attend this month. Some of the highlights include the Glow-in-the-Dark Yoga on February 22, and the Winter Cultural Series on February 6 and February 20. The HRCA web site at www.HRCAonline.org is one of your best resources for information about not only the HRCA, but Highlands Ranch.
HRCA Elections: HRCA’s annual elections for Directors and District Delegates are just around the corner. These elections are important as they elect the individuals that represent you on community matters. Watch your mail for important election information and when you receive a proxy card in the mail please take time to vote and return it. This helps our Delegates get the votes that they need for election and saves the HRCA an additional expense of holding a second election for any vacancies not filled. Suggestion Cards: HRCA continues to provide and maintain programs and facilities for a low cost to almost 100,000 people. We continue to strive to provide better customer service by soliciting your input through many different mediums. I personally review all of the suggestion cards that come into all of our facilities. These efforts continue to make Highlands Ranch one of the most desirous places in the entire United States to live, work, and play!
Volunteer Spotlight: Our January Volunteer of the Month is Erynn K. Erynn is a Physician Assistant in Family Medicine and has been volunteering in the Therapeutic Recreation Hip Hop program for a year and a half. She enjoys getting to know the dancers and joking around with them. Erynn's future goals are to travel - EVERYWHERE, have several more dogs, a bunch of goats, and a sloth. Congratulations Erynn K., you are January's Volunteer of the Month.

Please familiarize yourselves with the Residential Improvement Guidelines (RIGs) which are posted online at www.HRCAonline.org/Rigs to see which projects require submittal and keep in mind that the process can be fast and easy utilizing our online submittal resource.
HRCA ELECTIONS (continued from page 1) serving two-year staggered terms sets policy for the HRCA. Your Delegate is your voice for neighborhood and HRCA matters. Delegates meet monthly and make recommendations to the Board of Directors on important matters that impact our community. HRCA’s annual elections for Directors and District Delegates are approaching. Three Board of Director's positions will be elected by District Delegates on March 10 at the Annual Meeting of Delegates. Delegates are elected by their district constituents in April. Watch your mail in March as your ballot will be coming and your vote is important. For more on delegates, board, and elections, visit www.HRCAonline.org/ Leadership. Please email annie.vincent@hrcaonline.org by February 27 if you are interested in running for District Delegate, or visit www.HRCAonline.org/Elections.
