I called the interviewer today and was told, “I’m still accepting applications and interviewing because I don’t feel like I’ve found just the right fit yet. But, I haven’t ruled you out.” Should I write to the interviewer and thank her for taking my call today, and ask/offer to come in for another interview to address whatever concerns she may have that have her uncertain that I would be “the right fit?” Thank you for your quick response--I’m anxious to move on.

Career search is difficult and it puts many career seekers in very vulnerable positions. My main concern for you right now is to not sell yourself short by portraying a “negatively charged” selfconfidence or competence factor. You have had your interview if you sent a thank you card after your interview...good deal. If not, don’t do it now. The interviewer is still looking to find the right fit for her organization. She was candid enough to share that with you. You won’t be able to change her mind if her mind is already made up. You may still be in the running, and if
so let her contact you. We all need gainful employment in order to live the American Dream. However, don’t become too vulnerable or desperate…those qualities are NOT what employers are looking for. So, to answer your initial question, I suggest you “let it be”, “leave it alone” and “move on.” Don’t focus or let your energies be consumed by this one opportunity.

Baylake United Methodist Church is seeking a worship leader for its contemporary service, Water's Edge. This position is responsible for: the selection and arrangement of congregationally-singable, Scripturally sound contemporary music appropriate for worship; recruiting, organizing and training volunteer musicians, sound technicians and video projection assistants; as well as vocally and instrumentally leading worship. This position works collaboratively with the pastor, worship and other teams to effectively design engaging, participatory worship according to topics and series selected by the lead pastor. A successful applicant for the parttime position must have a deep faith, a knowledge of the Scriptures, musical skills, gifts for leadership and organization, and the ability to commit to Sunday morning worship, weekly rehearsal and other special events to include weekly coordinate meetings and up to quarterly planning sessions. A Bachelors Degree in music is helpful - experience is necessary. This is a part-time job with a salary range of $19 - 24,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
