Name This Game!
Throw the ball up in the air and catch it. Then do something (i.e. touch your knees, do a jumping jack, etc). Practise your favorite one, then challenge your parent/helper to try them. Record your 3 favorite challenges.
Cool catch #1
Play this game then come up with a name for it.
Lay 2 flat targets (e.g. tea towels or T-shirts from the laundry) on the floor about 2 meters apart. The parent/helper tosses a sockball, trying to make it land on one of the two targets. The child stands between the 2 targets and has to move behind and below the ball to catch it. The parent/helper can give a “thumbs up“ if the child got their body behind the ball and 2 thumbs up if they also used “basket hands.“ After 10 tosses (and lots of positive feedback!) switch places and let the child toss the ball. Keep score if you want. Vary the distances to make it challenging.
