Design Motivation : How do plants make us feel?
We feel happy seeing a plant sprout , feel amazed when it grows, and sad when it withers. There is something magical about living plants, that it evokes people's emotions. We want to put this relationship between human and plants into a person's daily life. When plants merges into our life, we can free ourselves from pressure, and enjoy the tranquil moment with plants.

From living to alive
Living Object is a conceptual furniture collection that introduces a mindful lifestyle to people.
By involving living plants (seen as a material); Living Object merges the act of caring for plants into the furniture design, which propose a new interaction among human, object,
and plants.

Floor Lamp: Ficus pumila
Lower the lamp to take care of the plant , keeps the lamp shade alive. The traces of one’s interaction with the plant will reflect on the form of the shade, results in an ever-changing scenery.

Lifting and descending the lamp implies the two conditions of the plant: acting as a lamp shade, and needing to be taken care of. Spending time with the lamp helps us examine our living habits, and starts a slow-paced lifestyle. 15

Ikebana Divider
Plants are evergrowing materials. Practice Ikebana by weaving the stem into the fabric. Wide leaves spread and construct a private space of yours.

Inspired by the art of Ikebana, borrow a few leaves from nature and weave them into fabric, creating a silent but spirited indoor forest; as if taking a piece of scenery home. Leaves stretch to construct a surface with void. As wind gently pass through these interspace, the leaves slightly
sway. Immersing yourself in this tranquil nature would be the most relaxing moment in your busy daily life.

Plant Research
In this project , we are not only designing
for people, but also for plants. We visited
flower markets, and read books to gain more
knowledge about plants, especially indoor plants that are common in Taiwan.

Ideation
Considering both (1) traits and needs of the plant, and (2)interior style and human needs we brainstormed all sorts of possibilities to combine plants and home accesories. First we sketch our ideas then make fast prototypes.
21

Are you kidnapped by your cellphone?
According to the Taiwan Communication Survey, people in Taiwan spend nearly 3 hours on their phone per day; young people from 18-39 years old, even hit a higher number: 5 hours per day. Smartphones has made our life a lot more convenient, but are we using them way too much?
31
Define design goal
Using the journey map to map out when and how people use their phones. Considering that
smartphones is still an essential tool, instead of restricting people to use their phone, we hope people can put down the phone andtake a break at appropriate time.
Combining phone charger with a aroma diffuser, this design hopes to make people rest well while and stay away from their phone while charging them. Meanwhile, people can examine their daily amount of usage.

Self Examination
The light shows the daily amount of phone usage, which helps people use smar tphones conciously. (The higher the usage, the dimmer the light)

Discover Problems User Testing / Interview
Test 20 users who use vacuum cleaners frequently:
13 female : 7male 20
35 Age range(yr old)
Participants are asked to do the tasks below: Set up the vacuum cleaner Use the vacuum to clean the room Clean the mattress (optional) Clean out the dust collector Charge the vacuum
During the process, we asked the participants to verbalize their thoughts while using the product. After, the testing, we had an interwiew with each participant.

Design Features
Easy to Clean A rounded shape dust collector without any angles, makes cleanIng fast and easy. Get rid of dust simply by rinsing.
D-Shaped Neck Wrong direction proofing. Prevents the user from assembling the attachment at unprecise angles.
Heat Heats up to 50 ℃ , which is the temperature that causes dust mites to paralyse.
Reflect UV light Ultra-Violet Light kills dust mite. Reflect UV light with aluminum surface at the back , hence the fabric get s more UV energy. 46
