ARCHITECTURE 29A PORTFOLIO Hsuan pi ( Michael)

Instructor: George X. Lin

WEEK 1: SELF-PORTRAIT •

Strengths: can know more about details of my face.

Weaknesses: the shape of my face and the eyes.

Opportunities: I will draw the shadow and being more details of the ear, the nose,

• and the eyes. •

Risk: the light of my face, the shadow inside of my ear, and inside of my eyeball will hard to draw.

WEEK 1: SELF-PORTRAIT

WEEK 1: LIVING SPACE •

Strengths: observing my living place by different angle, make me rethink about the furniture’s detail, and how to draw the space.

Weaknesses: the space, details of furniture, and the wall.

Opportunities: I will use one point perspective drawing technique to do it.

Risk: the deeper space inside of my room will be difficult for me to draw one point perspective.

WEEK 1: LIVING SPACE

WEEK 1: ESSAY ABOUT DRAWING

WEEK 2: FULL PAGE LINE COMPOSITION •

Strengths: to make me think whatever I want to draw and use the technique of line illustration try to make some place being

• deeper. •

Weaknesses: there is no difficult thing about this because it allows me draw whatever in my brain.

Opportunity: I will make lines being more clearly.

Risk: no.

WEEK 2: FULL PAGE LINE COMPOSITION

WEEK 3: UPSIDE DOWN DRAWINGS (IN CLASS) • Strengths: it can make me more concentrate on how lines go. •

Weaknesses: the proportion of lines are very hard to draw.

Opportunities: being more accurate of the proportion.

Risk: drawing lines in the right place and the right length.

WEEK 3: UPSIDE DOWN DRAWINGS (IN CLASS)

WEEK 3: UPSIDE DOWN DRAWINGS ( HOMEWORK) •

Strengths: it can make me more concentrate on how lines go.

Weaknesses: the proportion of lines are very hard to draw.

Opportunities: being more accurate of the proportion.

Risk: drawing lines in the right place and the right length.

WEEK 3: UPSIDE DOWN DRAWINGS ( HOMEWORK)

WEEK 4: HANDS • Strengths: I can catch various lines in my hand and can draw different movements of my hand. Using the frame to help us being more clearly to know the shape of our hand.

Weaknesses: although we have the frame to help us catch the movement and shape of my hand, it is still hard to draw the right proportion.

Opportunities: being more details to the hand’s lines.

Risk: the place or proportion

• might wrong

WEEK 4: HANDS

WEEK 4: HANDS

WEEK 4: HANDS

WEEK 4: HANDS

WEEK 4: CHAIR NEGATIVE SPACE •

Strengths: using the frame to help me figure out the proportion and try to just draw the line, not the chair.

Weaknesses: it is still hard to figure out the proportion because when I use the frame, it sometimes will not in the same place of the frame.

Opportunities: putting the other thing around the chair to help me know the proportion.

Risk: I have to know the thing’s proportion.

WEEK 4: CHAIR NEGATIVE SPACE

WEEK 5: VARIOUS IN CLASS CUBE IN EXERCISES •

Strengths: learning the 1 point perspective drawing’s proportions and how to draw 1 point proportion.

Weaknesses: cubes’ proportions.

Opportunities: just keep drawing the cube to catch the proportion of cubes.

WEEK 5: VARIOUS IN CLASS CUBE IN EXERCISES

WEEK 5: VARIOUS IN CLASS CUBE IN EXERCISES

WEEK 5: VARIOUS IN CLASS CUBE IN EXERCISES

WEEK 5: 1 POINT PERSPECTIVE OF ROOM Strengths: knowing how to draw the space. • Weaknesses: for me, drawing 1 point perspective is kind of weird because what I feel how lines go isn’t look like what I draw, and I will consciously draw the thing I feel it looks like. • Opportunities: I will concentrating on what I draw not what I feel. • Risk: maybe I will confuse about what I draw. •

WEEK 5: 1 POINT PERSPECTIVE OF ROOM

WEEK 6: 2 POINT PERSPECTIVE OF BUILDING EXTERIOR • Strengths: able to draw the building more clearly and more like the threedimensional thing, not the flat. •

Weaknesses: it is hard to find the vanish point because some building’s vanish point is on the outside of the paper, and the proportion will being very hard to draw.

Opportunities: I will try not to draw the vanish point on the paper.

Risk : lines might be very hard to catch.

WEEK 6: 2 POINT PERSPECTIVE OF BUILDING EXTERIOR

WEEK 8: 8 DIFFERENT SHADING METHODS • Strengths: I can learn the different tone can affects the object in different way. • Weaknesses: I had a trouble at the proportion of the cube, and the shadows. • Opportunity: I will identify proportion and the light. • Risk: it is still hard to use different tone to draw a same thing.

WEEK 8: 8 DIFFERENT SHADING METHODS

WEEK 8: 8 DIFFERENT SHADING METHODS

WEEK 9: HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS IN TONE • Strengths: start to use the light and shadow to identify the material of different object. • Weaknesses: always the same thing “proportion” is my biggest problem, and have the line to identify the object. • Opportunity: follow the proportion line, and try not to draw the line in the paper. • Risks: it is very hard for me not to draw the line and make it look like an object.

WEEK 9: HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS IN TONE

WEEK 10: PORTRAIT OF HELEN SEARS IN TONE • Strengths: identify the object and the person in the dark, and make the face come up to the paper. • Weaknesses: blend hatches, and eyes are very hard to draw, • Opportunity: I will use my hand to make the tone disappear and make the hatches blend together. • Risks: probably accidently make the object and person become same as the background.

WEEK 10: PORTRAIT OF HELEN SEARS IN TONE

WEEK 11&12: CCSF CAMPUS IN TONE • Strengths: start to know how to draw accurately. • Weaknesses: I spend a lot of time to draw the tree, however, it didn’t seems like what I want. Therefore, I just draw the tone of tree. • Opportunity: I will make my tone lighter in order to fit in the big picture, and spend more time to practice the way to draw the tree and the tone. • Risks: for me, it is really hard to make it lighter, because I usually draw very heavy.

WEEK 11&12: CCSF CAMPUS IN TONE

WEEK 13&14: SELF PORTRAIT IN TONE • Strengths: start to use the technique I learn, and for me, it is a very good exercise, because I can see the improvement between the first self portrait and this one. • Weaknesses: the proportion of my face is a little bit hard to draw. • Opportunity: I will draw my weakness part “eyes” • Risks: maybe I will destroy my drawing.
