Capturing Your Content
1a Record Your Screen Select the option to start a ‘New Recording.’ This will automatically open the screen capture recording module which will look something like this:
Record button: click to start recording Audio: enable and select your microphone. Borrow a mic from the library to improve quality. Be sure to set the input so that the meter is not maxing out (red is too loud) or too quiet. It should be bouncing within the 50-80% Camera: turn your webcam on or off (to record yourself) Select area: set the area that you want to capture. You can set to fullscreen or a custom size to cut out areas of your screen you don’t want to share. Larger sizes will provide higher quality video and the widescreen HD aspect ratio options will render best in most modern video players across devices. Click and drag on the squares to change the size of the area or the crosshairs to move the area.
1b Import Presentation Slides as Images Instead of recording your presentation, you can import your slides as images: ● PowerPoint ○ File → Save As → Choose file type JPEG or PNG → Choose Every Slide (if prompted) ● Google Slides (more complicated) ○ Download each slide separately - File → Download As (JPEG or PNG) ○ OR Download as PowerPoint (pptx) and save as images in that program following instructions above - File → Download As Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx) ○ OR Download as PDF and export files as images in Adobe Acrobat - File → Download As PDF Document (.pdf) ■ In Adobe Acrobat: File → Save As → Choose file type PNG or JPEG

Editing Your Project
3 Import Your Recording/Slides into Camtasia Importing your own video footage? Choose the ‘Import Media’ option either from the main menu in the Media Bin or by clicking on File → Import → Media.
If you are importing images, set the default image duration by opening preferences (Ctrl+,) and selecting the ‘Timing’ tab.
Add effects like voice narration, animations, cursor effects, transitions, from the options on the left.
4 Audio
The preview window shows what your project will look like. You can play, pause and skip through sections or move the marker along your timeline to move through the video.
Multiple tracks allow you to layer objects (like a title over your video). Upper tracks will appear on top of lower tracks.
You can record your audio using: ● Camtasia ○ Voice Narration (left-hand menu) ○ If you are recording your presentation as a video using Camtasia (see step 1), you can simultaneously record your audio. ● Recording Apps & Software ○ Smartphone - recording apps like VoiceMemo can be quick and simple to record audio ○ Software - Audacity is an audio editing/recording program available on all campus computers or available for you to download for free (http://www.audacityteam.org/) ○ Once you have a recording, import the audio file (see importing video above). Using a microphone will produce better quality sound- you can try using headphones with a built-in mic or borrow a high-quality mic from the library (ask at the front desk).
