The Arts Do Live... “...continuously, and they live literally by faith; their names and their shapes and their uses and their basic meanings survive unchanged in all that matters through times of interruption, diminishment, neglect; they outlive governments and creeds and the societies, even the very civilization that produced them. They cannot be destroyed altogether because they represent the substance of faith and the only reality. They are what we find again when the ruins are cleared away. - Katherine Anne Porter With great pride and an even greater sense of duty and responsibility we would like to present the first volume of the Hidden Treasure Art eMagazine / Spring 2015 April. Our mission is to connect and build a bridge between artists and art lovers by providing and presenting a high quality source of visual art and design through our book, website, magazine and other publications. We are dedicated to bringing happiness and recognition to the artists and joy, beauty and satisfaction to the art lovers let them be collectors, buyers, galleries, curators or others taking pleasure in art and design. We believe that Hidden Treasure Art eMagazine has much to offer both to the Artist and to the Readers.

Her main reference developing her painting style was the painter Pere Torné-Esquius (Barcelona 1879-Flavancourt 1936), particularly 11 naïve works which had been painted by him to decorate a child´s room. Maria tries to achieve an art for all ages: a kind of art dedicated to both child and adult. She shows her artwork both at regional and international scale.

“...the expressive style of M. Teresa Guala identifies herself with a search tied to the colour, to the intense flowing of the line and to the vital scansion of the images. In particular, the painter has elaborated a speech in which the simplification of the representation results, as suggested by A. Born in Lienz, Austria. Gabi Domenig was attracted to fine arts in an early age. Her love for painting encouraged her to take classes in nude painting, color theory, drawing and composition. Following her first exhibition in 1999, where she presented 20 large pastel paintings, she started to paint with acrylics on canvas. Gabi is primarily concerned with the representation of man and women which shows through her artworks. She tries to capture moments and to build up emotional tensions. The viewer should feel something of her passion when she paints. For her art should be life-affirming and beautiful, touching and connecting. Her characters send out varied emotions such as pride, pain, love, sadness, loneliness, joy and longing.

The figures are mostly located in a particular environment cutout. The expression of the eyes should animate the viewer to enter in a deeper communication with the figures in the picture. Flowers, plants, animals, patterns and landscape sections are decorative parts, but are usually situated in the background. Because of her intensive color palette and the figurative painting she is attributed to the Neo-Expressionism. You can find her images in private collections, in international art books, art magazines and online art galleries.

“Daniel Wimmer was born in Salzburg and grew up in an artist family. He’s been drawing since childhood and since he has finished the Nursing School he is truly ‘addicted’ to it. Due to working in night-shifts he has more spare time and he started to draw and paint every day. With the help of different books and online courses he taught himself the techniques of the old masters and also other styles.

In his paintings he loves playing with contrasts, compositions and different schools. He hardly repeats himself and this way he is learning from each new picture. His preferred subject are people. He loves the different, always changing colours of their skin and the fascinating shapes of their bodies and faces.”

As One oil on canvas 40 x 50 cm 2014

Kirsten Høst is a Danish artist, now living in Denmark, who has embarked on a new phase of her life and work, after spending 30 years in London, UK. This new phase emanates from a confident and sure belief and trust, that there is a plan for each one of us, if we allow our true gifts to unfold naturally. This trust has allowed her to find a new vision and a new voice working with oil painting and watercolour/ink/collages.

14 I HIDDEN TREASURE ART eMAGAZINE / Summer 2015

Kirstens work is strongly influenced by geometry, which she sees reflected in all aspects of our universe. This theme was reinforced by her meticulous study and admiration of the great renaissance painters in the museums in Italy, where she has spent longer periods of time, especially in Firenze, Perugia and Venezia. Kirsten`s work frequently starts with a geometric shape and with an open mind, and inspiration develops a life and vibration of its own. Her work has been exhibited in London, Paris, Edinburg, Copenhagen, Philadelphia, and New York in the U.S.A, and will be in 2015 exhibited in Palermo and Firenze in Italy, Paris in France and in Barcelona in Spain. Fu Wenjun Nepotism conceptual photography 140 x 175 cm 2015

Fu Wenjun, Chinese important conceptual photography artist, talks about history of art; it’s not a means, but the main goal. He therefore analyses some aspects which are meant to express a timeless concept. In this way, the expression of every artwork becomes a thesis with no possibility of anti-thesis, full of proofs which we find again many times in history, western and oriental, to remember that history is repeating itself and that the mankind as a whole has similarities beyond geo-cultural position. Paul-Jürgen Weber

Weber lives and works in Cologne, Germany. Art works since 1968, at first painting and assemblages, since the 1980ies primarily photography. He feels particular reference to Ansel Adams, Bernd Becher and Sebastiao Salgado. His works are preferentially focussed on landscapes in a broad sense, meaning “natural finished” and “manmade” settings. Source to his works is the world’s visible reality as it is. It actually provides an endless domain of endemic art basics.

The particular feature is to discover, select and process the intrinsic essence from the huge diversity and variety of forms, substances and situations with a discrete power of attraction to be creatively converted into artworks. Sir Karl Popper very rightly accentuated the abundant beauty of our planet Earth. With his photographs Weber quests to contribute to it’s visualization. Wilfried Wiegand calls this the ‘detected beauty’, which has been already existing but has to be bared and recollected. It is no matter of words and reasons to get access to this kind of artwork. The key is to realize it subjectively as individual beholder in his respective perception. In this sense Weber’s artwork wants to touch people and at the best to fascinate and to inspire.

Approaching Galleries It’s one thing being an established and famous artist, where all you have to do is paint the pictures and hand them over to an agent, then show up for the preview evening. It’s another to be at the beginning of your career as an artist. Most of us have to plan our own shows, as I have done over the last few years, and there is a lot of work involved if you want to get the most out of your art exhibition. I was fortunate in that I worked as a gallery assistant for artist Nerys Johnson when I was at Durham University, and assisted her with preparing for her shows. Even though she was an established artist, there was still a lot to be done. After you have planned an exhibition of your work, you will see that the commission galleries request is well worth the effort they put in!

Restaurants might be a good place to start, it works for both the restaurant in terms of attracting customers, and the artist. It is also a good place to get over your ‘art exhibition anxiety’ in a far less intimidating atmosphere than a public gallery. They charge no commission, but you have to do the work yourself… from the hanging to the promotion and subsequent sales. So, it is from this perspective that I write. In the Beginning: Your First Art Exhibition First of all, you must secure your ‘gallery space’. I had my first solo art exhibition at Pizza Express in Darlington, UK. As a corporation, they have a huge commitment to the arts, in particular local artists. Their restaurants are often designed as galleries themselves, and they know that their customers really appreciate the ever-changing work on their walls. To be continued...

Elana Schwartz is a wood sculptor from New Mexico. She has been drawn to the use of statuary as a conduit between the physical and metaphysical; concrete objects transcend the inherent limitations of the physical and provide a channel through which hidden meaning is unlocked. Wood is the perfect medium to explore concepts of the cyclical nature of life, containing within each piece a living history and future all its own. The recreation of wood into sculpture captures the transformative spirit of our own life cycles, and has the capacity to make any space sacred.

Why Artists Should Be Paid for Their Artwork? “Artists shouldn’t be paid for their art. Getting paid prevents them from creating really good stuff.” - I read somewhere online. I want to make three points about Art, Contribution and Money with this article: Your art is a contribution to society. It brings joy, it solves problems, and it makes this world a better place. Being paid allows you to make that contribution to society. Your contribution expands in relation to the amount of time you put into it. More hours means expanded contribution to this world with your God-given talent. “Artists are better off working a job they hate and then painting in their spare time.” This is the problem I have with that: No one should work a job they hate. You were put on this earth with talents and you are meant to do that which you are good at and what you love! The world is missing out on your contribution. The less an artist creates, the less they grow. It requires hours upon hours to hone your craft. Charging for your artwork enables you to make a contribution to the world with your art. It allows you to develop your style and to get better and better at what you do. As long as we are stuck in a money based system, I find it an outright insult to all hardworking artists to say they shouldn’t be paid for what they do. It’s just a crazy notion that this one, single profession should work for free! (While everyone else gets paid.)

Giuseppe Digiacomo www.artigianatoartistico.weebly.com contact: Giuseppe Digiacomo murphy190@hotmail.it Italy

Giuseppe Digiacomo was born in Manduria on January 23, 1990. Since childhood he was fascinated by the art of shaping wood and by attending the workshop of an artisan, he acquired the rudiments that allowed him to learn how to assemble and transform materials readily available. At 9 years old, he moved to Rome, where he still lives and works. The eternal city stimulates and intrigue him, with its many shops and works of art in every alley. So, he get close on tiptoe to the art world that, in a short time, involves him completely. In January 2015, he made his first work, “Spazio Vitale”, in which he focuses the man with his own emotions. Emotions that are also his and that, since then, take shape in his works.

In a short time, he experimented new materials and perfected his technique. The Maestro Alberto Vespaziani, President of “100 Pittori di via Margutta” Association, is the first who to take an interest in its work and, judging them as innovative, he agree, in 26.03.2015, to expose him with artists of the Association. Since then he has participated in several collective exhibition and in various artistic contest.

“Marian Sava” makes the stone sing”

He received his artistic education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Bruxelles. When looking at his works, one word comes to mind ‘Emotion’, because one experiences a great pleasure, produced by the creative impulses of the artist, which are marked by the seal of extreme sensitivity. Marian Sava approaches the abstract art in his very nuanced manner, without ever falling on the side of pure and hard abstraction. He passes smoothly, from the strict image of a subject to the creation of new unexpected forms (...) Collette Bertot, Art Critic, Brussels 23 02 2008
