Welcome to our HTS Online community. 2023-2024 will be a remarkable year in our school’s history — the first cohort of students and staff, the first year of being a connected global community, and the first year of redefining learning as a team of passionate learners.

It will be our year of many firsts, most importantly a year of extraordinary learning and leadership.

The HTS Global Online Campus is a division of the HTS Learning Network which has its home campus in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. HTS is a not-for-profit, registered charity, with an incredible 42-year history of providing an exemplary educational experience to learners in Ontario with an extraordinary alumni network making an impact around the world.

The Board of Governors and I, alongside many experts in our vast HTS network, have been building this vision for an exceptional online learning experience. We are excited that our visionary learning model, centred around community and personalization, will be part of your child’s learning journey.

Our Curriculum

HTS Online provides a curriculum that exceeds the requirements of the Ministry of Education in Ontario. Students graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), which is supplemented at HTS with additional graduation requirements.

Students will also graduate with an experiential learning component and with additional credits that build their financial literacy and digital fluency in emerging technologies.

This enriched academic program works alongside co-curricular activities that enhance our students’ experience and skill development, ensuring our learners have the knowledge and competencies to thrive both academically and professionally.

In a rapidly evolving world, intellectual agility and problem-solving citizens will not only thrive in the future, but they will also confidently create the future we need for a better tomorrow.

As an independent school, we are committed to providing an exceptionally innovative academic experience that enhances our students’ journey beyond their academics. HTS Online students are passionate and driven, seizing their future with confidence.

Mentorship Program where all learners have access to a personal mentor supporting them personally and academically as they grow in their leadership and pursue their goals.

Guidance Counsellor and specialized post-secondary counselling to support and mentor students as they work towards their next educational milestone.

Experiential Learning requirement where every learner must complete a field study before graduation, connecting them to community service, citizenship and professional workplace skills.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered to students who want to supplement their academic program to meet post-secondary admissions requirements.

Co-Curriculars

Through our global partnership, students will have opportunities to engage in co-curriculars that best suit their interests and personal goals. HTS Online students will also have opportunities to engage in:

• Hackathons and competitions

• Micro-credential and micro-certification programs like Google and Adobe

• Leadership and academic workshops with partners offering opportunities to all learners to build their skills that successfully transfer to their post-secondary and workplace pathways

Community

• Community building launch program at the start of the school year for students across each grade to connect, and build the foundation for their relationships with their peers and teachers

• Advisory program where educators provide mentorship and guidance to a small group of students over their four years at HTS Online seeing them through to their post-secondary pathway

• Weekly whole school assemblies

• Synchronous learning in whole class, small group tutorials and 1:1 lessons with every course teacher

• HTS Online will have a school shirt that is part of the uniform that builds our collective identity as a learning community

Asynchronous work can be completed outside of the scheduled times to support the needs and flexibility required of each student. It is expected that students dedicate the allotted asynchronous time to each enrolled course.

English Proficiency

Students are required to have an IELTS band score of at least 6 or a TOEFL overall score of at least 60 to be considered for admission. This requirement is to ensure that all students admitted demonstrate a level of understanding of the English language that will allow them to be successful throughout their studies.

Admissions Process

Complete the online application form and pay the non-refundable registration fee

Submit a supplementary application and supporting documents (including a video submission)

Complete a 30-minute formal candidate interview (for all students being considered)

The Admissions Committee will provide an update on your application shortly after your interview

Helen Pereira-Raso Head of School

Helen has dedicated her career to inspiring students to be creative, engaged and curious learners who are fully prepared for life. In her role as Head of School at Holy Trinity School (HTS), Helen brings a forward-thinking, progressive approach to education that is the foundation for HTS’s reputation as a leader in learning.

Helen’s career as an educational leader has always focussed on what matters most — developing a school culture in which all learners, adult and young alike, are able to explore, create and learn in meaningful ways. She is committed to professional learning as essential in the journey of educators and has led workshops globally.

A visionary leader, Helen has been instrumental in building the HTS Learning Network ensuring all learners, adult and young, thrive. Her leadership and innovative approaches, combined with her passion and commitment to developing learning environments that inspire all learners, are what drives her life’s work.

Adam Hurley Principal

Adam is an experienced educational leader with more than 10 years of experience in private school education. He earned a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education, Bachelor of Education and Master of Education from the University of Toronto. Adam comes to HTS having launched a school from the ground up 8 years ago. He believes it is essential to instill curiosity in all students, create and foster a collaborative online community and individualize the learning experience to support all learners to achieve their goals.

Diana Cibrão Academic Director

Diana is an experienced and passionate educational leader with 14 years of experience. Diana comes to HTS having multiple roles in Ontario’s public school educational system ranging from classroom teacher, curriculum developer at the school board level and school administrator. She holds a Master of Education and Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University. She believes in the potential of every learner to succeed and the impact of every educator to transform the lives of learners.
