Our backyard mission I am sooooooooooooo exited for my first ever missions trip to Mexico! I am going with a unfamiliar youth group and im going to be building houses!…which I have no idea how to do… but im going to trust God and step out in faith! I am praying that i make an impact on the people’s lives there, that I get to show them Jesus and how much he loves them. In a way I kind of am already on a mission’s trip! By writing in this blog I am on a mission to share the love of Christ with other teen girls. Im just not on the “trip” part. Most people think in order to go on a missions trip you need to go to some faraway country and build an orphanage, but that’s not true. There are people right here in America who need help too. There are people in your very town who would love a kind face like yours to come around. To tell them just how much Jesus loves them and how he died for their sins. Not just in your town either, in your schools, your dance class, maybe even in your own home. I want you to look back and think about all the people you saw at school the last time you were there, I want you to try to remember everyone who might of seemed lonely or like they were hurting. In need of a good smile. Maybe the boy all alone in the cafeteria, or the girl who is always picked on for her looks. Those people are your mission. Those people are the ones who need to hear how important they are. How LOVED they are. They need to hear Jesus name, because there is power in his name alone. Now trust me i know this all sounds crazy. Terrifying. Trust me i get it. I am a shy person by nature. So even the thought of going up to someone i DON’T KNOW and saying ” Hey Jesus loves you so so so much and he died for your sins!” Is a little scary…but then i stop and think. Those people are hurting, they probably don’t know Jesus and if they do they need to be reminded of how much he loves them. So who cares if im afraid! I would rather be afraid then know i didn’t do anything when that person walks away still hurting. How about you? Are you willing to let that person walk away? If you said no, then i guess i you just found your mission. So go! Go to your commander (Jesus) and make sure the mission is done! Oh wait now i hear your voice “But Kylie, im too young to make an impact. I would just make a fool of myself…what could I do…?” NO!!! STOP RIGHT THERE!! If you are asking yourself these questions then im going to grab you, spin you around three times, and shake you. Just because you are young doesn’t make you less qualified to make an impact then your older brother. You see, because you are younger you make more of an impact. Does that make sense? “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 How many teenagers do you know that are brave enough to take the backyard mission? I bet it’s not many, if any at all. Imagine what people would think if they saw a teenage girl go up to a homeless man, sit next to him and tell him how much Jesus loves him… They would go crazy! They wouldn’t believe what they were seeing! A TEENAGE GIRL…. if bet you it would make them want to do the same. Well if that girl can do it so can I! So how about it? Why not take the backyard mission and show those hurting people who they are. Daughters and sons of the living God. So! Will you take the Backyard Mission?
