Hues & Pixels Photography Vol. 02 . Issue 01 Spotlight: Cityscapes/Architecture
I have always been an avid traveller, even before i first picked a camera , travel was always my passion. Each place has its own history, culture, architecture and charm which can definitely be explored.During the course of my travel, I found that Urban landscapes/Cityscapes and architecture fascinated me deeply. From the beginning of my photography days, patterns lines textures and geometry in architecture have always attracted me . Since It was a selftaught journey , I could learn and work as per my interest and pace, without much pressures. Also I was happy to develop my own individual style of images ,which is very satisfying as an artist . Of course, at times I took a bit longer to experiment, make errors and redo images during processing , but it was really a fun process and knowing that I did it on my own makes me feel even more happy. In my opinion photography workflow should include research (locations ) reaching a spot well in advance, good observation , looking for a fresh viewpoint and shooting image. This is followed by well balanced processing ( for me its a combination of LR & PS ) .Post processing is an integral part of a final image. An artist is free to express and present an image in the style he / she likes and this is very important in any art form.It is a matter of personal taste. In my work , I use multiple image panoramas and also digital blending. I believe I am still a learner, and each day is an exciting journey towards gaining new knowledge. I would suggest beginners to keep adding to your technical knowledge and sharpening your skills.Keep viewing images from all genres and styles to broaden your vision and ignite your own creativity. Also, give special attention to post processing as it is very important in final presentation your image. When someone tells me “I saw this image and I knew its your work its truly a great feeling !! So most importantly, develop your own individual style and vision so that your work is your signature .
In this section, I would like to share some of my favourite Architecture images
BEACON LISBON The Ponte Vasco da Gama Lisbon is a massive 17km long bridge that spans the Tagus. This image is part of a series of photos shot here, the endless and spectacular bridge offers great views. I like the meeting point of the bridge and pier in this composition , and have experimented a different edit/lighting here to create moody effect. 6

MOSCOW METRO ART More than just a means of transportation, the Moscow’ s metro is truly a masterpiece of art and architecture. You won’t find two stations that look alike. Without a doubt, despite so many amazing sights in Moscow , one memorable locations you’ll mention is the beautiful metro stations. This is a handheld shot at the wonderful Novoslobodskaya Metro Station.
CEILING SYMMETRY Church of The Saviour on Spilled blooded Its gleaming onion domes and decorative façade are iconic of ST Petersburg. But the ornate and spectacular ceiling is the real show stopper here !! This is symmetrical centred composition of this architectural beauty, I love the details and light in this image. 7

SHELL This image is shot at the City of Arts
and Sciences, Valencia in Spain. Palau de arts Reina Sofia is part of the massive complex designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. It is a very popular location for photographers, with multiple compositions and perspectives to explore. Hence it was very challenging to find a new perspective, I decided to try this one and also present it in a different textural edit .
SKYGATE La Pedrera/ Casa Mila is one of Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces in Barcelona. It is a most iconic work of civic architecture due to both its constructional and functional innovations, as well as its ornamental and decorative work. I captured this perspective and experimented with a dramatic processing .

CONVERGING
LINES Astrup Fearnley Museum Oslo building is designed by the renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano. It is made up of three pavilions that reside under one distinctive glass roof, which is shaped like a sail. The building is in sync with its maritime surroundings . I have used the lines of the bridge in the foreground to give a feeling of convergence towards centre of the building.
TRAVELERS Burano is an island of Venice, famous for its traditional lace and coloured houses. It is a short
distance from Venice and is a must visit destination. This image of the houses along the water canals is special to me as I was able to capture the 3 travellers in the frame too. Being a very popular destination, you require a great amount of patience to wait and shoot at the right moment . 9

TOKYO DENSITY This is a photo shot from Mori Tower viewing deck Tokyo at blue hour. I love this view of
compactly placed and illuminated buildings from here with the prominently visible Tokyo tower. It truly depicts the density and busy pace of this vibrantly beautiful city.
Architecture val...’Musical ‘ Shot at City of Arts and Sciences Valencia This is a dream location for
Architecture photography , with possibilities to try unending compositions Being such a popular spot, it has been shot so much that it is truly challenging to find a unique pov here . I have framed the L’Agora within an arch and also experimented with cool tones and to lend a modern touch. 10

JUST AROUND THE CORNER Duomo Milan at night. Any angle you shoot this structure from, its always
incredibly beautiful. I have chosen this particular image from my Milan 2019 series ,which is not the popular classic front view but an different angle from one of the streets behind Duomo . I like the ambience of this night view with the Cathedral framed with the shopping lanes .
CLUSTER Another image from my ‘Dubai 2016’ series. This is the wonderful line up of skyscrapers in Dubai Marina. I have done a creative edit here to showcase these structures in a dynamic way.

Hues Hues && Pixels Pixels Photography Photography
Dr. Inderjit Singh is a doctor by profession and an artist by disposition. He is a nature lover. His love for all living beings manifests through his images of birds and animals. His photographic journey started with birds but he is crazily, irrevocably in love with the Royal Bengal Tiger. He is a keen learner, picking up technical knowledge from Youtube and polishing his technical acumen and artistic temperament with passage of time. A regular visitor to Ranthambhor Tiger Reserve and Corbett Tiger Reserve, he experiments with other genres of photography, but ends up clicking his favourite, the tigers, elephants and birds. His daughter Dr Summiya and his better half Mrs. Manju Anand are his constant companion in his wildlife journeys. He is now looking to expand his horizons and travel to Africa and South America once the current pandemic recedes.

Born in Ciudad Real (Spain) on March 5 1959, he started in the world of photography when he was 20 years old. He says : “I have been learning every day about this beautiful world that photography is, every day something new is learned because there are always people who know more than oneself. I have traveled to different parts of the world, photographing beautiful places. I currently reside in Colombia, where the fauna and landscapes of this country dazzle for its beauty. It is a luxury to be able to photograph in Colombia. During all these years, I have taken different training courses for digital development and prcessing, investing in learning from the great landscape photographers, especially in Spain. Currently, I teach photography classes and workshops on digital development and processing, with Lightroom, Capture One and Photoshop” © Vivek Banerjee 23

MASTER PORTRAITURE By Prasad Dharmadhikari
Prasad Dharmadhikari
84
Portrait artist Prasad Dharmadhikari is specialized in creating photographs of people who subtly reveal their inner lives to his camera. With the authenticity he finds a timeless expression of human individuality — when the challenges are made even more difficult in an era of ever-accelerating change. But when posed in front of a camera, a person’s character doesn’t come through naturally. For his portraiture, he puts in a lot of time and effort to forgea bond with his subjects and to frame their true spirit. He believes that you can capture that in a frame if you have real contact with them and make that connection.
