about me My name is Ramón Morcillo, my passion is photography, although I really enjoy doing landscape, city, social, macro, ... what really makes me enjoy the most is doing them at night, when the skies are darker and when the stars dominate. the firmament, that’s when I feel truly fulfilled, I was born in Cieza (Murcia) in the southeast of Spain. Photography added to travel is something that I am passionate about and whenever I have a chance I run away with my team to do what I like the most. Spain, with the exception of artificial lighting in large cities, we have many areas and fantastic places to do night and star photography, in general, there is a large part of the night sky to enjoy full of celestial bodies in sometimes well-known corners of unparalleled beauty and many others yet to be discovered. On the outskirts of the cities and in the darkest points, in Spain, we can find from a demolished period castle but with a special attraction, the most beautiful snow-covered mountain and one of the most attractive peaks surrounded by forest, to a beautiful reef and a centennial lighthouse on the magnificent coasts that surround our peninsula. When it comes to the Milky Way, which is what I usually practice, Spain is an exceptional place, but for colleagues who are dedicated to other, deeper disciplines, I have to say that we have very important observatories on the peninsula and the Canary Islands. . As for the best locations, they are many and varied throughout the Spanish geography but it is always essential to look for the most suitable area on pollution maps. Depending on the composition that we want to offer in that specific photograph, we can choose between sea, mountain, lake, etc. First of all, good planning before taking the photograph, a good orientation and documentation of the area is always very important. The equipment also influences, we are working with our cameras at very high sensitivities and with long exposure and noise is the main enemy, therefore, good sensors that support this situation really have an influence. My equipment is simple and sufficient to work at night, my Sony A 7III gives me enough quality to take the night panoramas with stars that I need. And the variety of lenses that I usually use in different situations as well. I count among others to take this type of photographs with the Laowa 15mm F 2, Sanyang 35mm F 1.4, Sony 16.35 G master F 2.8, Sony 55 mm F 1.4 and that I sometimes alternate with the Sigma 50 mm Serire ART F 1,4…. And lately my Star Adventurer Skywatcher mount, increasingly inseparable. As for the difficulty, it is very convenient to have documented a little and of course the practice makes each time the achievements come more and better. The first times are somewhat laborious photographs and a certain skill is required both at the time of execution and later in their development. Of course, to take the first photo you have to try to choose an area on the map with little light pollution, with that you already have almost 50% of the success of the photograph. You have to try to put into practice all the training that you have been able to acquire and try to follow an order in the shots of sky and ground in case you want to do them separately ... and above all, a lot of patience. 3

As a Quetzal bird you can see this rock in El torcal de Antequera, a simulation of a bird and a snake as the ancient pre-Columbian civilizations of Mesoamerica called it, that’s how I see this rocky shape, like a divine bird . 6
