about me I’m an IT professional based in Bangalore and also the brand mentor for Nisi and Vanguard India. When I’m not busy writing software, I’m out - riding, travelling and making images, almost obsessively. A self taught photographer since 10 years, my passion is creating fine art nature and travel imagery especially urbanscapes and seascapes. You’ll find most of my compositions with minimal human element which is my creative calling - exploring and establishing the often untold visual relationships between the inanimate elements of a scene. My vision is to create travel and landscape images that not just inspire the travel hunger in its audience but also to educate and sensitize them towards their own travel and photographic journey. My work has been accepted, awarded and exhibited in multiple salons and galleries across cities in India and abroad. This is in addition to Silver prizes in internationally acclaimed TIFA Awards’20 and Rise Awards’20 and multiple Special Mentions in yearly editions of the esteemed “Monochrome Photography Awards”. My images have also featured in various online and print magazines including “Smart Photography”, a leading Indian monthly which also featured my work as cover photo of the issue and “B&W Minimalism”, an acclaimed magazine featuring minimalist work of photographers across globe. I currently own a Canon 5D Mk4 body alongside the array of lenses - Canon 24-70 F2.8, Canon 16-35 F4 (wide angle), Tamron 70-200 F2.8 (telephoto), Rokinon 12mm F2.8 (fisheye). I extensively deploy Nisi V6 Filter Kit and a Sirui W-series Tripod for my long exposure work. I also use Move Shoot Move Star Tracker Kit for astro landscapes. My photography workflow is a simple 3 step process of Vision, Execution and Processing with is preceded by adequate planning for the shoot (in most cases). This might vary a bit as per subject matter but common theme is always finding a story telling composition and choosing the “creatively correct” focal length and exposure for the story though I always prefer to impart some dynamic element into the frame and hence end up shooting long exposures a lot. I always shoot in RAW format with end look in mind and deploy techniques like exposure/focus bracketing as needed. My post processing is about pretty much sticking to the fundamentals - enhancing contrast, color (or monochrome), sharpening and impact. I use Lightroom and Photoshop for the same, along sides Nik plugins on need basis (like monochrome conversion, noise reduction etc). 3

Galaxy over Parashar

From one magical lonely light over the scared Parashar lake in Mandi outskirts. Just waited for the moment when clouds cleared up and the milkyway core lined up above the lake and the temple complex. Himachal. 4

Singapore Days
© Puneet Verma
From a busy day in the downtown Singapore area as the Marina bay cityscape basks in the sun and clouds march over. Choice of slow shutter and monochrome conversion was almost onbious to me as I sought to capture the essence of the ciy in a unique manner. Singapore. 5

Curves of Nature One of the most beautiful sunsets that I have ever witnessed. The iconic lighthouse beach of Kovalam as it recieved the ethereal last light of the day and as the clouds and receding waves mirrored each other in curve like shape. God’s own country, Kerala.

Lotus, lights up

The icon of Delhi - Lotus temple in the afterhours as the tourist rush subsides and lighting comes up. Blue hour and yellow lit architecture are a match made in heaven. Perfect warm vs cold tonal contrast. Hence this image. Delhi. 7

Sun and Key The majestic Key monastery from Spiti valley. I always had this frame in mind even if this has been shot many times.Hence, I deliberately chose to hike up in later afternoon when the sun lined up with the monastery. Now to render the sun as diffraction spikes (aka the sun star) was my attempt to render the scene uniquely. Himachal.

Lovers A typical monsoon morning scene from the Konkan coastline as the rocks turn even more photogenic with the moss growth. Spotted this couple, almost as if in each
other’s
arms,
witnessing
the
rains in far. Hence the title - Lovers. Karnataka. 9

Devotees Spotted this duo of Nandis (bulls) looking straight into the iconic Veerapaksha temple of Hampi, lit in golden light. Almost like two pious devotees. Choice of monochrome was deliberate as I wanted to emphasize on the tonal relations between the natural and man made elements in the scene. Karnataka.

Master and Disciples The majestic Kaup lighthouse from the canara coastline on a moody monsoon evening. A cloudy windy evening that it was, lent itself to the choice of slow shutter. And as I spotted this bunch of rocks leading to the structure, I knew the frame was in the making. 11
