ASM has been providing clients with customized sales and marketing solutions in the grocery channel. One of their grocery clients is Meijer. Meijer believes that producing and preparing good food is an art form, at the Test Kitchen, it is also a science. Chefs and food scientists spend their days here at the Test Kitchen, using just about every kitchen gizmo and gadget imaginable to test foods’ viscosity, texture, temperature and, of course, taste, to make sure the food is healthier, safer and tastier.

Cylance’s new headquarters present an open-plan workplace with exclusive collaboration spaces. The spacial breakroom, located at the center of the space, is dedicated for social activities and professional seminars.

ASPEN MEDICAL PRODUCTS

EXITING STUDY The new proposed layout will meet the code required exiting requirements. PARKING The new proposed layout increases the overall office square footage by 1,224 usf. An additional 4 - 5 parking stalls would need to be added if the office expansion followed this new plan. Per previous parking study, the office space expansion minimum before having to add parking is 600 usf. TITLE 24 REQUIREMENTS Per the City of Irvine plan checker, this level of alternation does not meet the 10% minimum for Title 24. The new build-out will require new LED light fixtures, or the existing light fixtures will need to be retrofit to become dimmable fixtures. In addition, new controlled power outlets will need to be added. If adding new workstations in these two areas only (no private offices) and keeping the existing ceiling as is, then we would just need to add the new controlled power outlets.

Companies selected span across creative marketing, co-working, and design professions to help support the local businesses that would be their potential clientele in the Phoenix community.

PIVOT

CONCEPT PIVOT encourages face-to-face interaction that reconnects us through the process of discovering the environment and creating joyful memories. Interaction and communication become mutual and instant. PIVOT eliminates the invisible social barrier brought by digital devices and allows us to feel the genuine social atmosphere. The spaces are defined between the movable screen, the glass box, the terrace, and the service room in plan; and by the accessible roof, the ceiling and the terrace in section. They allow a series of thresholds that defines private and public spaces. GOALS • A space that adapt to contexts • Leave something behind as seeds of social catalyst • Promote face-to-face interaction • Responds and transforms with users • provide the opportunity for growth with the exhibition • Social interaction through exploration and transformation

RESEARCH “Technology celebrates connectedness, but encourages retreat.” Studies show that we have become more distracted to humanity with new advancements in technology. Technology makes it easier to avoid the emotional work of face-to-face social interaction. An accurate emotional connection relies on various elements. These elements include facial expression, voice tone, body language, and the sharing of metaphysical energy. Sometimes it is hard to read emotions even with face-toface interaction. Yet the level of difficulty multiplies when trying to decode emotion through technology. Scientists say multi-tasking can change the way people think and behave. It clouds the brain with bursts of information making the ability to focus more difficult. “Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy.” Current research is beginning to prove that a smile can be contagious. When you smile, your body releases neuropeptides, chemical signals that liberate hormones into the brain to fight off stress and depression. The orbitofrontal cortex region of the brain is activated upon seeing an attractive smiling face, and make you feel rewarded.

PIVOT transforms and adapts to context, program, and time by creating “in-between spaces.�

Visitors are encouraged to take pictures of their smiling and happy moments at the photo booth. They can share these memories with their friends and other visitors.
