9 in 10 Managers expect some of their organizations’ major initiatives to fail for lack of resources. Your workforce needs a solution that sets them up for success.

EDITOR’S NOTE A bold future awaits us all The future of HR is now – and technology is a massive force propelling HR leaders to expand the scope and impact of everything they do. Technology is driving change across the spectrum of HR processes, and many progressive employers are utilising the early mover’s advantage to redesign traditional job functions to lift the value they provide.
The unique aspect is our interactive format, where you can look forward to roundtable discussions taking place throughout the day in between lively on-stage panel sessions. Each table will have a moderator and be allotted adequate time to share their views, ensuring you get the most out of the event by engaging in valuable two-way discussions.
Take for example, the hotly debated performance appraisal. While the annual review isn’t quite a permanent fixture of the past, a number of prominent companies have already taken steps to implement strategic, real-time, conversationfocused performance management models rather than lengthy appraisal processes which take months to complete.
No matter what end of the HR technology spectrum you find your company at, today’s session will help you find solutions and generate the kind of conversations you’re looking for.
In a recent conversation, Genevieve Godwin, regional HR director at J. Walter Thompson Asia Pacific, anticipated the future of HR witnessing employee participation increasing in HR processes – backed by technology.
As you settle in today, we in the Human Resources team look forward to meeting all of you. Please keep sharing your feedback with us, or leave us a comment on Twitter using #HRTI2016, where we will be posting live updates throughout. Enjoy the conference.
“Real-time feedback will become the norm with social media being used in 360-degree feedback models and employees will need to manage their careers resulting in a significant cultural shift from the manager/employee approach,” she told us. And those are among the practices we aim to discuss today at HR Tech Interactive 2016. Now in its fourth year in Singapore, and second year in both Malaysia and Hong Kong, our team is dedicated to pool together the most relevant and contemporary views up for discussion.
Aditi Sharma Kalra
Regional editor Human Resources aditis@humanresourcesonline.net
Over the course of today, you can expect to ideate on best practices in HR technology, driven by an agenda that features case studies, keynote presentations, and intimate networking opportunities.

INTERACTIVE SESSION TOPIC 1. Big data talent analytics Workforce analytics is becoming rapidly prevalent as a key business and HR tool and major component to strategic decision-making. However, gathering and interpreting data is not without its pitfalls and the approach is still, for many, in the assessment stage. This discussion will be your chance to hear from and question experts on how they met the challenges of using workforce data and how they succeeded in bringing about greater efficiencies and decision-making as a result. Discussion Hosts: A - Yaj Malik, executive vice president and managing director, Sage Asia B - Kamini Kanagasingam, head of service delivery, HR, Digi
2. Mobile HR Mobile technology and applications are changing the way everybody works – from your workforce to your own function. Increased productivity through the use of the right mobile applications is undeniable, but how can the HR function leverage on similar tech to advance the way it operates? In this discussion, you’ll find out how. Discussion Hosts: A - Monir Azzouzi, head of performance and development, Maxis B - Chandralakshmi Thiruchelvam, director, Asia, compensation and benefits, Western Digital
3. HR cloud Major benefits such as a lower TCO, increased flexibility, scalability and any-place-any-time access have seen more and more organisations moving HRIS onto the cloud. But with a large increase in solutions providers going in the same direction, knowing what the right fit is for your organisation, amid a plethora of different options, is a challenge in itself. Discuss your challenges, concerns and organisational requirements at the HR cloud table and uncover the information that matters to you. Discussion Hosts: A - Alok Kumar, CEO, cloud services, Excelity Global Solutions B - Lisa Wong, HR and administration director, Land Pacific Development
4. Social media and collaboration Social media has come to be known as the disruptive form of communication, in many cases becoming the norm by which many individuals communicate – so getting it right in the workplace has become crucial. Many now report that social media, when done right, delivers increased employee engagement, internal collaboration and idea and knowledge exchange and greater job satisfaction. This discussion is your opportunity to find out how practitioners are getting this right and what could work best for you. Discussion Hosts: A - David Holloway, corporate sales director, AVADO B - Hari Nair, head-business partnership and continuous improvement, BASF PETRONAS Chemicals
5. Next generation recruitment tools Operating in a candidate driven market means you need to get off on the right foot with those that could make a difference to your business. Showing your forward thinking approach and the tech savvy way in which you open a dialogue with external candidates is becoming a must for market leading companies. This is your forum for discussing evolving best practices and learning the tips and techniques that will make a difference to you. Discussion Hosts: A - Sharma KSK Lachu, CEO, Accendo B - Dr Henry Yeoh, deputy president, Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management
