EDITOR’S NOTE Despite HR professionals being in the front line of the ongoing talent war, not all teams are armed with the same weaponry. Old legacy systems and outdated technology still being used in many organisations to manage talent is the modern-day equivalent of going into battle empty handed. HR teams can no longer afford to overlook the benefits of technology. So how can you ensure you’re making the right decisions to boost your human capital strategy and stay competitive?
The conference is set apart by its interactive format, where you can look forward to round table discussions taking place throughout the day in between lively on-stage panel sessions. Each table will have a moderator and be allotted adequate time to share their views, ensuring you get the most out of the event by engaging in valuable two-way discussions. No matter what end of the HR technology spectrum you find your company at, today’s session will help you find solutions and generate the kind of conversations you’re looking for. As you settle in today, we in the Human Resources team look forward to meeting all of you. Do enjoy the conference. As always, we look forward to your feedback.
This is where HR Tech Interactive steps in. Because technology and analytics play such a large role in employee engagement, compensation and benefits and other people decisions, we’re bringing back this conference for a third consecutive year to help you quantify your HR technology decisions. Today, you can expect a jam-packed day of insights from leading HR generals already fighting the talent battle, as well as the weapon suppliers themselves. You can expect intense debates and discussion over how much customisation is really required in your software package, and whether you are doing enough with the data you now have available at your fingertips.

INTERACTIVE SESSION TOPICS 1. BIG DATA TALENT ANALYTICS Workforce analytics is becoming rapidly prevalent as a key business and HR tool and a major component to strategic decision-making. However, gathering and interpreting data is not without its pitfalls and the approach is still, for many, in the assessment stage. This discussion will be your chance to hear from and question experts on how they met the challenges of using workforce data and how they succeeded in bringing about greater efficiencies and decisionmaking as a result. Round table hosts: A – Clarine Quek, product manager, SaaS, CareerBuilder B – Ng Kok Eng, director, human resources, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School
2. MOBILE HR Mobile technology and applications are changing the way everybody works – from your workforce to your own function. Increased productivity through the use of the right mobile applications is undeniable, but how can the HR function leverage on similar tech to advance the way it operates? In this discussion, you’ll find out how. Round table hosts: A – Lucy Tan, chief human resources officer, NatSteel Holdings B – Bhavana Chauhan, center of excellence, HR transformation and workforce planning, Mercer
3. HR CLOUD Major benefits such as lower TCO, increased flexibility, scalability and any place any time access have seen more and more organisations moving HRIS onto the cloud. But with a large increase in solutions providers going in the same direction, knowing what the right is fit for your organisation amid a plethora of differing options is a challenge in itself. Discuss your challenges, concerns and organisational requirements at the HR cloud table and uncover the information that matters to you. Round table hosts: A – Richard YK Lee, director, human capital management strategy, Oracle Corporation B – Joni Pulido-Ferrier, value advisor expert, HR line of business value engineering, Asia Pacific and Japan, SuccessFactors, an SAP Company
4. SOCIAL MEDIA AND COLLABORATION Social media has come to be known as the disruptive form of communication, in many cases becoming the norm by which many individuals communicate – so getting it right in the workplace has become crucial. Many now report that social media, when done right, delivers increased employee engagement, internal collaboration and ideas and knowledge exchange and greater job satisfaction. This discussion is your opportunity to find out how practitioners are getting this right and what could work best for you. Round table hosts: A – Anna Tan, senior associate, Wentworth People B – Sharon Pock, HR director, APAC, Bruker Corporation
5. NEXT-GENERATION RECRUITMENT TOOLS Operating in a candidate-driven market means you need to get off on the right foot with those that could make a difference to your business. Showing your forward-thinking approach and the tech-savvy way in which you open a dialogue with external candidates is becoming a must for market-leading companies. This is your forum for discussing evolving best practices and learning the tips and techniques that will make a difference to you. Round table hosts: A – Srikanth Chandrashekhar, head of talent management, APAC, Pall Corporation B – Makarand Tare, regional talent director, Asia Pacific, McCann Health
