EDITOR’S NOTE Feeling bullish on talent For years, HR professionals have been trying to break down the walls separating them from the rest of the business. The ones who have successfully done so have one thing in common – they have been able to seamlessly integrate each of their talent management functions in a way that makes processes relevant across business units. After all, managing talent is an imperative that requires both HR and business leaders to collaborate on matters that go beyond routine policy decisions. Strategic issues such as talent attraction, engagement, development and retention are all owned by the HR team, yet the stakeholders of these lie throughout the organisation in the form of line managers, divisional heads and employees themselves. Each of you may be at different stages of the talent management journey. You may be working to build foundational HR support for your organisation or working towards launching a revised learning framework.

Some of the smartest minds in Asia, and the world, will serve up practical advice on talent management strategy – offering a rare opportunity for the HR community to hear from both global talent management gurus and APAC senior industry leaders on one platform. This is where you, and your fellow conference delegates, can share tips and tricks about what works and what doesn’t, as you unearth valuable intelligence that you can apply to your organisation right away. Companies in Malaysia have come far in their journey across the talent management spectrum, but there is a long way ahead in developing bestpractices that can be scaled globally and replicated with context. This conference is your opportunity to work with global management experts and your peers to address today’s most compelling HR issues and shape the future of talent management. We hope you enjoy the event, and we look forward to hearing your feedback.

Others may be working on garnering company wide buy-in for a new leadership development programme or rolling up your sleeves to identify the next big agenda to exponentially increase HR’s contribution to the business. Wherever you stand, this is the conference that will get you thinking on ideas to better manage talent in the region. For the past two years, Talent Management Asia, Human Resources’ premier conference on human capital strategy, has offered solutions to issues that keep HR directors awake at night. In its third year, we are proud to bring Talent Management Asia to Kuala Lumpur to offer the region’s HR leaders a platform to share their insights and case study experiences with fellow HR professionals. The theme of the annual conference this year is, “Aligning HR objectives with business goals”, and we have a power-packed agenda lined up for our delegates, bringing together heads of HR and talent management from the region’s leading organisations. In these two days, you can look forward to more than 20 sessions in the form of keynote presentations and real-life pan-Asian case studies.
