Interactive Session Format

Workforce Mobility Interactive 2017 takes the best bits from a traditional content-driven conference and combines those elements with the advantages of a roundtable discussion, but on a larger scale. Attending Workforce Mobility won’t just endow you with insights from leading practitioners and experts, it will facilitate valuable two-way discussions for all who attend. In the course of a day, every attendee will be involved in four themed round table discussions with a perfectly sized group of

new and exciting peers. Each discussion will be led by handpicked experts who will draw the group members into the discussion and create an open and conducive environment for a valuable debate. How involved you get is left entirely up to you! Wilsen Isuwaran is an accomplished human resources head with an extensive and proven track record of working with business leaders in a variety of industries to build winning cultures, leadership and HR systems and practices that drive performance and business results. He has led a full spectrum of HR functions to enable the achievement of the business strategy. A special area of his expertise is manpower planning, learning and development and employee relations. His experiences and success as an operational HR, leadership coach and business strategist helps him provide the practical insight and operational wisdom to help executive leadership teams meet business challenges. With decades of progressive internal business experience, he has served on the leadership teams of large and small companies such as Diary Farm International (Malaysia) before becoming the head of HR at Bata.

With nearly 20 years of experience in designing customised mobility solutions for various industries, Richard Willeter possesses a wealth of insight into the mobility challenges faced by industry today. His work centres around developing practical solutions for optimising a multinational workforce while striking the right balance between cost reduction and talent strategies. He joined Crown in France in 2009 and transferred to Hong Kong in 2012 while managing projects spanning operations, consulting and implementation. With a passion for driving innovation, strategy and managing change, he is a member of the group’s senior leadership team, Crown World Mobility’s steering committee, Crown’s talent review board and an active member of AmCham’s human capital committee.

As the regional HR lead for Dell Malaysia, Andy M drives human resources strategies that support the company’s vision, transformation and continued growth. He has extensive experience in marketing communications, customer care, learning and development, in addition to HR generalist and specialist functions in the electronics and telecommunications industries. Under his leadership, both Dell Malaysia and Singapore have won numerous Employer of Choice and HR Innovation awards. He obtained his master’s in business administration from Federation University, Australia; master’s in arts from University Science Malaysia and a post graduate degree in management from Cranfield University, UK. He sits on the talent corporation diversity and inclusion committee and strongly advocates women in leadership excellence initiatives in the northern region of Malaysia.

Encik Muhammad Rizal Md Zain is the head of group human capital at DRB-HICOM. He has a master’s in business administration from RMIT, Australia, and a bachelor of electrical and engineering from the University of Brighton, United Kingdom. He has more than 23 years of working experience and started his career as an engineer and project manager. His interest in human capital has steered him into specialising in this function, focusing in the strategic HR areas of training development, talent and succession management. His experience in human capital management spans not only building HR infrastructures in local companies of diverse sectors, but also includes overseas stints in the areas of competency design and development. At DRBHICOM, he is a member of the board of management.

Heineken Having trained as a teacher in the United Kingdom, James Wellings has had 15 years of teaching experience in four different countries. He has been a senior leader in international schools for six years in both Dubai and Malaysia. For much of that time he has focused his energy on innovative strategies to improve students’ learning and experiences. Since arriving at Garden International School, he has led the development of the school’s large scale enquiry programme which has become both an Apple Distinguished Programme and the winner of the 21st Century Learning Global Innovation award 2016. In addition, he is leading a team to develop a unique and genuine method of evaluating student progression as aligned to the school’s “Learner Skills” (often referred to as 21st century competencies although he is not a big fan of this name!).

Chandralakshmi Thiruchelvam was responsible for strategising and managing compensation and benefits for the different Asia factories of WD. Her remit included attracting and retaining the right type of talent while ensuring all C&B programmes are market competitive and in line with the overall objectives of WD for both local and expatriate employees. This span of coverage includes 40,000 employees across Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. Before WD, she was with HSBC Group, playing a similar role which included ensuring HSBC’s ability to attract and retain the right type of talent while ensuring all C&B programmes were market competitive for about 38,000 employees across Malaysia, China, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka and Poland. Examples of some of the projects she has managed include compensation package design, incentive plan design and benefits package audit and design.

Sow Chat Gan is the Asia Pacific benefits director for Honeywell covering 16 countries in AP. He has held various leadership positions in his illustrious career in rewards, within high-tech, semiconductor, telecommunications and FMCG industries. He has a total of 21 years of HR experience, specialising in the full spectrum of compensation and benefits. In his current role, he has worked extensively on benefits management in delivering strategic plan design reviews, cost containment models, supplier management, data analytics business decisions and corporate governance across the countries in the AP region.

Sainursalwa Sani has a bachelor degree in human sciences (Hons) majoring in sociology and anthropology and attended executive education on strategic human capital management at the National University of Singapore, subsequently pursuing her specialisation at INSEAD. She holds a MBA degree (merit) from the Cardiff Metropolitan University. She built her capabilities and expertise in human resources, strategic planning and programme management through her exposure with various industries. She also had a short stint as a consultant focusing on human capital management for various nonprofit organisations. In 2012, she was invited by the Prime Minister’s Office to assist on the drafting of the government transformation programme and was involved as a lab member leading the education transformation.

Alison Hampshire is originally from the UK and brings a wealth of experience as a school leader in various roles in both the UK and internationally. She has worked in Africa and Asia, with eight years at South Island, an ESF school, in Hong Kong. While at South Island, she was instrumental in the introduction of the IB diploma programme and the introduction of 1:1 connectivity for 1,400 students using MacBooks. She is well known for her passion for teaching and learning, in particular for her innovative approach to curriculum and organisational structures. She trained as a learning support teacher and was awarded advanced skills teacher status in Cambridgeshire where she was an English and drama teacher. She has also taught and developed PSHE curricula and has delivered TOK as part of the IB diploma programme. She believes that school leadership is about empowering people to be the best they can, both teachers and students.

Phing Phing is a director with PwC International Assignment Services with more than 20 years of experience in providing tax and business advisory services to a wide range of Malaysian and multinational clients. Since 2000, she now concentrates on the area of global mobility and provides support to clients in managing tax and compliance implications of international assignments. Her experience includes reviewing remuneration packages and crossborder secondment arrangements and policies for tax efficiency, advising on visa and compliance issues that affect short-term business travellers into Malaysia, payroll due diligence and providing individual tax compliance services.

Amit Saxena is a passionate human resources practitioner. After completing his bachelor’s in electronics engineering he preferred to work in the human resources field. In his 15-plus years of experience with multinational companies such as HCL, Honeywell, Schneider Electric and Solvay he has been at the fulcrum of all activities. Currently, he heads the human resources and management services division at Recron Malaysia. He has led change management, departmental revamps, process and efficiency building, mergers and acquisitions, communication and corporate social responsibility initiatives. He has worked across geographies such as India, China, Thailand and now Malaysia. He is a certified coach from the International Coach Federation specialising in life and executive coaching. He is a life member of NHRD India and the Malaysian Association of Certified Coaches.

Robert Day (Bob) is the acting head of global immigration at Santa Fe Relocation Services and has had a long career in large multinational companies, having a background in finance and operations before taking a mobility focus. His experience has included the management of an end-to-end mobility programme in the UK for a large blue-chip company; leadership of an immigration practice in the Nordics; global co-ordination for a large global pharmaceutical company; along with leading the co-ordination of European immigration in a Big 4 environment. At present, he is leading all aspects of the global immigration capability for Santa Fe.

As the senior vice-president and global chief information officer for SIRVA, Matthew Dickerson is responsible for technology and innovation projects that serve its corporate clients, transferees, supply chain and internal associates. In addition, he interfaces with the sales, marketing and IT teams on all new product initiatives and the development of customer technology, and leads SIRVA’s enterprise-wide global CRM strategy and heads its sustainability programme. In 2014, he was named Crain’s CIO of the Year which recognises the talents who assume duties beyond the operation of their company’s technology. He joined SIRVA in 1995 and in 2007, spent two years as chief innovation officer at another corporate relocation services provider. In 2009 he returned to SIRVA in his current role as senior vice-president and global chief information officer.

Michelle is the head of group human resources and head of group employee relations and organisational development at Tan Chong Group. She is a trained industrial organisational psychologist and HR practitioner with more than 18 years of experience in education, pharmaceutical, automotive and other diversified industries. Her area of expertise is facilitating business goals with in-depth knowledge on behavioural and cultural assessments to provide effective human capital solutions. Her background includes employee relations, counselling, coaching, talent management, change management, project planning, auditing, risk management, sales and customer relations. Her passion is to provide and develop leadership expertise to strategically plan, develop and manage human capital functions and projects by applying industrialorganisational psychology methodologies into sustainable business management practices, policies and strategies.

Adam Abdullah has been the HR director for Weir Minerals Malaysia since January 2015. He has about 25 years of human resources management working experience.
